Hey Ang & Cody another great video. I am starting my 5th year in my 337 reflection. I like you have not had any structional issues at all. And all my trim mouldings are perfect. The skylight had a crack from a screw that was to tight. Warranty replaced it. The fridge had to be replaced after 7 months. Warranty again. But the water heater developed pin hole leaks in the aluminum. Even after i flushed it twice a year. Missed the warranty period. PITA to replace. A few minor things replaced. KNOCK ON WOOD! Ang is awesome. From the second time she did the knock on wood until the end she just cracks me up. You guys are so good for each other. She's a keeper! Take care, Mike B

After pulling my wagon around since I was 3 and now 73. I have learned a few tricks. The one thang that will screw up your trailer is to let your trailer tires go unbalanced. The vibration will cause all kinds of problems. Ice box open, screws from some where found on the floor, faucets leak, cabinet doors opened, leaf springs hangers break, and the lists just gets longer the more I type. Can you balance your trailer tires NO you can not. The best upgrade for that is a set of centromatic wheel balancers. This will greatly improve your tire life. All the screws, nut, bolt, and cheap glue will thank you for giving them a smother ride. The cost is small compared the damage of a unbalanced tire. When was the last time you had your tires balanced???
Centromatic wheel balancers will balance your tires every time you hit the road. Its worth looking into. Love you channel

Thank you! Discount Tire used the stick on weights for ours when we got them earlier this year. We've been really lucky inside the trailer. Other than our fridge door which pops open some times (pretty common with the Furion fridge) & a drawer popping open here and there we've been in pretty good shape (knock on wood)

Cody thank you for this video you are right things do go wrong and break. We have been weekend warriors for over 20 years have had three different brands of RVs. And have issues with each one but we over came and repaired them. We are planing a trip out west after watching y’all’s videos and we are making upgrades and repairs to our fifth wheel. Also I have been a Chevy man all my life but after looking into the different truck and what they offer I got a 2019 Ram 3500 with the Cummins engine. From all my homework this truck stood out the best. So thank y’all for another great video.

    • @RVUntethered

Ram definitely has a big advantage. They're still high but much more cost effective than the other two. They're slick trucks! I used to be a Chevy guy prior to Ford but never anything in the heavy duty category. If I had to buy one today it would be the Ford or a Ram I think. They're all good trucks. Issue is, the manufacturers know it and price accordingly haha

So very well said Cody. Glad your RV has only provided you with the common issues that every brand provides to everyone. Our Grande Design Momentum has been a very good rig for us too, even though we had Frame Failure - which I found a TX Welding & RV Repair shop to do for me (cost me $6000) but I’m of the opinion that ownership of ANYTHING comes with risk. If you don’t want problems, then don’t own anything. Like you guys, we’ve also just marked our 2 year full time experience and if we weren’t doing this we’d be sitting at a sticks n bricks not seeing all the great places this continent has to offer and not meeting all the great folks along the way. Problems are to be expected in this life style of traveling. Can you imagine the problems and adventures all them folks had travelling the Oregon trail ? Today’s travellers are dealing with a lot less problems than they did.

Excellent video. We have had similar issues with our 2022 Solitude in two years of full timing. We agree completely with your statements in this video. Very well said. Our only difference is right after we bought our rig we failed to use our checklist when unhitching. Like you, we pulled the 7-pin cord off. But unfortunately, it started a small electrical fire in the front compartment. It fried all kinds or wiring and a few hydraulic lines. Over $14k mistake (thanks for insurance). But you learn from your mistakes and we religiously use our checklists. Biggest upgrade we did was the MoRyde independent suspension with disc brakes. Expensive but well worth it. Please keep up the great videos!

Thank you! I'm so jealous of that independent rear suspension /disc brake combo. I hear great things about that setup. I had a Grand Design tech tell me a story similar to yours with the light cable so that was the first thing I checked. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have thought of it. I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! I wish they would make a breakaway cable of some sort that doesn't impact the trailer.

Thank you for this video! The wife and I are 14 months away from retirement and we plan on hitting the road. But in the past year I have ingested a lot of negativity especially with Grand Design. Up until now GD has been off the list. We are spending our vacation in Deadwood SD, and on the drive out we were noticing all the different RV’s and there is a lot of GD’s out there so there must be a lot of folks that are weathering the RV life just fine. Maybe I will reconsider GD as we look for our RV. We are very excited for our next chapter and most timing in our RV. I did blow up the 12 volt system hooking the camper to my F150 Powerboost 7200 watt onboard generator. The sad part was I had the reducer plug 4 prong to 3 prong laying next to the truck bed outlet but forgot to use. I replaced the 12 volt panel myself, what a job that was. Good video - does your bedroom slide have rollers under it - our Solitude was built without rollers - I added them myself recently - slide is much smoother and faster now. Also, all of the GD Reflections, Solitudes and Momentums were built with not all of the upper deck frame holes willed with lag screws, and the screws were 3/8” instead of 1/2” (size frame holes were drilled). Highly recommend adding the missing lag screws and replacing the 3/8” ones with 1/2” ones. GD has a TSB on this as well. This will strengthen the sidewall to upper deck frame connections and prevent future issues (we had issues on our 2021 with this caused by the smaller lag screws - noticed rub marks on bedroom furniture caused by failing connection - was missing 6 out of 14 total lag screws …)

Hey Mark thanks for the recommendation on the lag screws. That’s a big topic right now. We do have small slide rollers on the Schwintech slide in the bedroom. Knock on wood we’ve had good luck with that slide so far.

Thank you! I think we’re good for now, but I used Rock Auto a few times and you’re right! They are pretty great!

Not sure about other states but here, every rig on the lot has stickers “Not for full time living. Recreational use only.”
I would think that would be a dead giveaway that these things are not going hold up.

Great positive video. What e-bike lock are you using? We just bought 2 e-bikes. Researching what bike locks people like.
    Thanks

Thank you! Embarrassingly enough, we use cheap cable locks from Walmart. When they're on the rack the Swagman locks them down

Any pointers on replacing the seat heater? Mine went bad and GD sent me a new element. Thanks.

BIKE RACK? Hi what size is your hitch on trailer, ours is only 1 1/4” and we have the same bikes as you. We are trying to figure out what to get or if we need to do
Something with the hitch? Just started out this April! Patti and Robin from Canada

Interesting! Ours is a 2” receiver hitch. I suspect that there are adapters, but I would see what weight you are rated for first. There may be a reason that it is smaller?? Our weight requirement was on a sticker on the hitch, or maybe it is in the owners manual.
With our smaller bikes, we got a smaller-weighted Swagman rack, so it works. But check that receiver FIRST!
      Good luck!! 👍

Could you tell me where you stayed while in the UP of Michigan??

We stayed at Newberry Campground in Newberry, MI. Ot was a decent little campground . It has been a couple of years but I remember the sites were a little unlevel. Staff was nice.
We were still new to the full time rv travel piece of it. We stayed there three weeks and drove everywhere and everything is so far away! I would do it differently next time. I would move more and travel less distances.
Our friends FairWinds RV just got done traveling the UP and they found some boondocking and state parks that looked great!

@RVUntethered I thought so. We stayed there a couple of years ago. Nice, quiet place.
