In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

@@funk3nst3in This first aired in August of 2023. It was shared around on Tiktok, which is where I first saw it. In fact, I want to say it was the first Taskmaster related thing I ever saw.

It seems like even Bubbah herself is frequently surprised by what she can suddenly say to get a laugh
She is glorious in every way
Every time I'm like "Ray's my favorite contestant" Bubbah does something hilarious, and then I'm like "Bubbah's my favorite contestant." Then Dai says something hilarious and I'm like "Dai's my favorite contestant." Then Karen does something outrageous and I'm like "Karen's my favorite contestant." Then Mel does something stupidly funny and I'm like "Mel's my favorite contestant." It's like we got 5 very different types of humor all brilliantly put on display with this cast.
Agreed this cast of contestants was perfect! So far my only criticism for the TM-NZ is Jeremy 😐 (This is the first TM-NZ series I've watched in full) Finding out he was a news presenter isn't surprising now, because that's basically how he acts (assuming it was very boring serious news presenting) 😒 THE Taskmaster should not be equivalent to news so boring, dull, bland, and un-emotional that it could he could be presenting bteaking news about an alien invasion or nuclear exchange on a public area/waiting room television and NO ONE would even notice! I'm not sure if this is his first season? If so (or either way) hopefully he'll eventually grow into a better example of THE Taskmaster... I'm not saying copy Greg, just like exactly copying Alex is unnecessary and impossible... Just don't literally be a boring news anchor sitting in the Taskmaster set, while delivering minor lines that seem more like insults because of lack of natural comedic thinking or timing... 🤷♂️ Thank God NZ did better with casting the TM's assistant or it may have turned me away from this particular national version of Taskmaster. 🤔
@@berryreading4809 no, he's been pretty bad for the 4 seasons so far. He's got slightly better as he started pulling a start-of-episode joke since season 2, but he still has a LOT of deprogramming to do in order to become a true Taskmaster Host.

In all fairness, it seems to be some kind of Mandela effect, the number of people who believe Dai Henwood to have Japanese ancestry.

Dai just pleading like "PLEASE I NEED TO MAKE IT CLEAR I HAVEN'T SAID I AM ANYTHING BUT WHITE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO CANCEL ME" but people kept talking over him.

This was a perfect cast! Dai and Bubbah were real standouts the whole season. In the middle of reading Dai's memoir, really crazy to think he had been secretly battling cancer for 3 years at the time of this.
Bubba getting a tattoo of the other contestants is both wholesome and badass at the same time.
Poor Bubbah! In my family we call that Finders' Blindness. 😂

The glitter task was amazingly made, even without Bubbah.
I predicted that the bowl didn't contain glitter, but I was not expecting it to be glued up. Or for the bowl to be right by the fridge.
The Bubbah made it an all time great. Best moment was when she waskes Paul to describe it.

So, two are learned from the episode:
1) Confirming that getting a tattoo will get you five points.
2) Bubbah isn't the brightest color in the coloring box, but I'm here for it if it continues. X-D
If I had a nickel for every time someone won 5 points on Taskmaster’s prize task for getting a tattoo, I would have 2 nickels!

The Taskmaster is required to test the permanence of the tattoo with saliva.

I've been watching some of the early British TM and need to thank you: the audio of the studio audience is on the right volume. On the UK TM it way too loud.

She's the tallest woman on any English-speaking version of the show I believe, at 6'1. Jessica Knappett (5'10) and Rose Matafeo (5'9? IDK) are the two tallest in the UK

Yeah, was thinking the same thing, very uncomfortable and disturbing.
This makes me uncomfortable about TM in general, they always harass the assistants. Joking is one thing, but when they kiss them or touch them and it has nothing to do with the task it's so weird. There was absolutely no reason for her to kiss him again.
this is the series that got me into the taskmaster universe! i had to pirate it lmao but it introduced me to the amazing world of taskmaster.

Lungs fill the balloon - therefor lungs used to blow out the candle
We saw Paul's lungs used to inflate the balloons.
Technically all the contestants did use their lungs during the task, which was a good thing, but they didn't use them to blow out the candle, which was the point.
Sitting there in the studio, it seems like this was filmed in black & white and they colorized all of it except Ray.
Watching this and now I want toast 😅

I absolutely hate the team tasks where the team of 2 get absolutely nothing to compensate for being down a member, and it's a task that is EXCEPTIONALLY easier the more people you have!
At least with the tasks that are easier with less people the group of 3 can still outplay or outsmart the group of 2, but there is literally nothing you can do for the ones with 3 different roles needed.
Mate, you should really try to not take things in life so serious. It's a comedy panel show, not a game competition :) enjoy and have a great time

Is Bubbah a nickname? And, if so, is it similar to (or the same as) Bubba as is commonly used in America (a diminutive form of brother that is used as a term of endearment and is typically, but not always masculine)?
Sorry, snuffing out a candle is not the same thing as blowing it out. Dai should have been disqualified.

Depends how he's feeling, he let Lee Mack off for breaking plates after completing the task, but not Steve Pemberton for breaking his egg or Joe Lycett for eating chocolate.
Karen clearly used her lungs to blow up those balloons... Should have been disqualified.
They only show Paul blowing up the balloons, not Karen.
Everyone used their lungs to power the rest of their bodily functions so nobody should get any points

The dude's just an absolute sucking void of charisma, he actively makes everyone else on the stage worse. I don't get why he wasn't canned after the first season.
@ haha yeah. He must be friends with Alex Horne or something. He’s the opposite of an engaging and witty host that feeds into the comedy (of which there is very little in the NZ version anyway) I literally can’t watch anymore mostly because of him
to each their own, but i like him. he seems happy to set the others up for jokes and play the straight man, and i think he gives the NZ version a relaxed/understated feel that's a nice contrast to the other versions

That tattoo was obviously fake. You could see them seam on her skin.
Someone said it’s a thing called “second skin” which is a protective cover which helps tattoos heal. I remember when someone I knew got a tattoo they wore that. It keeps bacteria and stuff out
