My sister in-law was given heparin before going into heart surgery she had diabetes and shortly after receiving the heparin her hands and feet began to turn black with gangrene the doctors were late in catching the bad reaction and both her hands and feet had to be removed is this a common thing to happen?

not at all, prior to surgery all patients should be removed from 'blood thinners' and heparin being one of them. They should be put on blood thinners following the surgery to prevent clotting.

I had a hit as well. Came off vent after CABG something wasn't right. Passed out next day when they got me out of bed. Went back on vent for another 5 days. Developed necrosis on right leg, leg clot, and a pulmonary embolism. All I remember is fighting the vent on day 4 and coming off the vent day 5.
