I actually agree with him about what eating meat does to your thought process and your thinking. I stopped eating meat several years ago, and I noticed a HUGE change in my anger/aggression/frustration levels. I used to feel extreme rage. And since I stopped eating meat, anger doesn't overtake me.... this is obviously just a personal anecdote but not eating meat anymore made me so much calmer.
its not you but my younger brother used to eat meat like a LOT, since he stopped eating couple of years back, he has calmed down a lot. In past he used to be angry , pissed off frustrsted all the time for no reason
Syd Lane Wow this makes me realize that maybe eating non-veg is what causing my younger brother to become so aggressive that he recently strangled me and beat me up. He started acting very violent and aggressive in last few years. He was even suspended from college and when he got a job he was kicked from there too. All this happened in last few years since he started eating non-veg.
Now, I need to go make idlis! 😂. I rarely make my Indian dishes anymore, mainly because it’s just me and ALWAYS end up wasting too much. That reminds me though, I need to order some tamarind. I had a craving for tamarind rice last week and realized I’m out. The one thing I DO consume daily? My home made chai. 😁. When I first began visiting the Ganesh Temple in Flushing almost 20 years ago; I talked one of the cooks down in the canteen to teach me how to make some of the dishes they were serving. I became addicted to REAL chai very quickly and still make at least a gallon a day..😂. (Much more when my kids visit. In fact, my youngest loves my spice mix so much, she asks for a large jar for her birthday and uses it for many different recipes besides tea.
@@johnk2106 Can I actually freeze idli? What about rice dishes like biryani and puliogare (tamarind rice). Perhaps I do it incorrectly; but when I attempt to freeze rice dishes, it has a strange texture & sometimes strange taste. Thanks in advance!
@@elaineg60 Yes you can freeze Idli, we buy half of our indian dishes frozen from the Indian store. They sell family pack idlis that we heat up in the microwave, just heat for 1 minute for 2 and 2 minutes for 4, cover with a wet paper towel. Its a easy breakfast on lazy mornings. Any of the curries freeze fine as well for us, id say use it within 2-3 months to avoid freezer burnt taste. I dont freeze rice since its so easy to make and best fresh, but from a lot of the prepackaged frozen indian food ive eaten the rice is half cooked. It finishes cooking when its heated up in the microwave and becomes soft.
So many racist hate comments. If you don't like anything in a particular culture, please keep it to yourself, as you're targeting a whole strata of people. Hate will only increase this way.
Look who's talking about racism. Do you know how racist Indians themselves are towards Africans and towards North East Indians?? Indians are a hypocritical bunch, going off about racism in the West even as a whole host of them still prefers to live on in the West rather than India, yet unabashedly direct racist expletives and pejoratives towards other ethnic groups without any remorse.
@@gaurangkarmakar4046 The video's showing South Indians though, they're not really racist against outsiders which is why most NE Indian migrants are shifting to South Indian cities rather than live in places like Delhi where they're discriminated against.
@@theevilpranksterFirst of all, South Indians, who BTW are a subset of Indians people, are very much racist against other communities. Kannadigas especially, who resent the fact that non Kannadigas have taken over Bangalore, just like Marathis resent the fact that non Marathis have taken over Mumbai. Kannada people especially resent Tamils, their fellow South Indians, god damn it. Don't give me the BS, South Indians are also very much racist, like the rest of India. More so the South Indians of Mumbai, who are even more parochial minded, as they often like to let out or even sell their properties only to fellow South Indians, since they feel only their fellow South Indians are trustworthy and that non Southies will cheat them or something (this my own Telugu friend told me, from Matunga, close to Dadar, which has a massive South Indian population).
@@theevilprankster I know your kind too well. When some great achievement by an Indian and/or some good aspect of India and Indian culture civilization is showcased, then you lot will start owning the achievements of that individual and/or wax eloquent about the GREAT INDIAN CIVILISATION and how you are proud of being Indian and how you stand united with your fellow Indians (even if the Indian achiever in question doesn't belong to your particular community) since then you don't see any particular community. BUT when some ignoble aspect of Indian society is brought forward, you lot start seeing region and community and say that this is only fault of one set of Indians. SPLIT PERSONALITY at it's diabolical worst.
@@gaurangkarmakar4046 Oh look, a western apologist... I'm not a racist so I will complain when I hear racist comment anywhere in the world including India. Should they stay quiet because some of their countrymen are racists. In that case, the whole world should keep quiet because there are racists every where. What a stupid thought .

indian respect family and education for their children at top most priority ...they live with atleast 3 generations at one place sometime family sizes exceed 30-40 members even maternal side families are treated equally if they live nearby...but sometims it is also very hard on kids they cant refuse to obey elders easily like families feed their children even up to the age of 30-40 if he is not earning likewise sons/daughters has to keep parents with them they cant send in to old age ..this is considered bad in society...

thePowerPlant so true, I can't stand those cupcake shows.

Man they are so happy, humble, and satisfied with their life. I hope I can attain this peace. I’m a Jat Sikh and always hungry 😋
I need to eat some Uttapams (satvik foods)
I love Indian food. I had it so many times in Saudi Arabia. I am eager to get it in the USA. These are great honest hard-working people. Good bless.
Wow! What an amazing Family Food dining experience ... I LOVE the emotional intelligence of the owners. I would love to eat here!
Awesome perspective on a culture and food that I don't really know well at all. Heart warming!
Being an Indian and south Indian and being a vegetarian....after seeing your video ...I felt really happy of you being with the pure southindian restaurant in us ....thank you for the video and god bless so that you can spread across us ...
Admit it, we've all probably come back to watch this video every once in a while
....
3rd time already
Feels good
I came back too.
South Indian food is hands down the best! I love what the Iyenger family is doing. This video truly highlights the emphasis Indians place on their families ❤️
I'm from Karnataka! My father hails from Mysore too...
This video just took through a beautiful journey! There's a different feeling watching our people in abroad, doing so good, spreading goodness!
You find a lot of vegetarians here, I'm one too!
People are warm n have zero ego!
We feed people from our hearts, there's a saying here "Athithi devo bhava" meaning "The guest is God"!
This way of treating people with respect is what most of us follow here...
😌
Thanks for the video!
Loads of love
Beautiful.. Really enjoyed it. There concept of Family with the employees is Great..
Something black ppl can learn a lot from
Rhyme905 no need for sayin that, i bet you will see the same secene in all the family run soul food restaurant as well

I had the same experience. I was hard core non vegetarian and it made me aggressive
its not you but my younger brother used to eat meat like a LOT, since he stopped eating couple of years back, he has calmed down a lot.
100% agreed, I noticed some time after changing my diet that I was a lot calmer.
You are absolutely right, that is my experience too. Now, I am a complete vegetarian.
Oh my my..
Speaking of tamarind. It reminded me having a sweet tamarind and chilling with my friend over green meadows of Kerala. Ah childhood memories.
if you have too much food just freeze it. Indian food freezes well, always great for days you dont want to cook.
You seemed to have found the sweetest Indian family owned US business. Good scouting.
Thank you America for accepting

So many racist hate comments. If you don't like anything in a particular culture, please keep it to yourself, as you're targeting a whole strata of people. Hate will only increase this way.
Look who's talking about racism. Do you know how racist Indians themselves are towards Africans and towards North East Indians??
Indians are a hypocritical bunch, going off about racism in the West even as a whole host of them still prefers to live on in the West rather than India, yet unabashedly direct racist expletives and pejoratives towards other ethnic groups without any remorse.
@@gaurangkarmakar4046
The video's showing South Indians though, they're not really racist against outsiders which is why most NE Indian migrants are shifting to South Indian cities rather than live in places like Delhi where they're discriminated against.
Just because some Indians are racists, are good Indians supposed to keep quiet when they hear racist comments about themselves and others? Should they stay quiet because some of their countrymen are racists. In that case, the whole world should keep quiet because there are racists every where. What a stupid thought .
You can only smile and watch in wonder of these simple people ...making indians proud
truly soulful
@Bingo Wingz dint look st them and don't see this video if it affects you so much.
by the way, ugliness is in your mind
Holy ish! I’m like just with that one saying (belief) makes me wanna be vegetarian! I love Indian people.
Trust me you won't regret
Onely bramins are vegetarians
I feel so happy and proud as a Indian after watching this video , these folks are carrying and preserving the traditions of Indian food culture and its values, god bless them😊

I am from Mysore. WoW, South Indian food. " IDLI " Healthiest breakfast in the World.
I've been here a few times. It's as good as it looks. The family is so passionate about what they do, and it shows.
My family is South Indian, and they always trust Swagath to do it best
One of the most humble family that I have ever come across. 😍
He's so passionate about his work. Warms your heart
A very beautiful insight into indian diner-style restaurant world. I found the family aspect of the restaurant towards its workers and customers to be very interesting and heartwarming. Great video.
There is a partial ugly truth about inbreeding but the ugliness is because we focused more on the intelligence than external beauty.
@Bingo Wingz how did you comment from the year 1500?
The smile on that man is so genuine and contagious. What a fantastic family!
I am Maharashtrian & I love Idli & Dosa, It was my breakfast during school days as it so easy to make. These people are giving the authentic food experience to to everyone.
Geniuely great people, this I am not saying as a Indian, but the dedication they have for their work, that is cooking, really fell proud for such kind people! Hats off!

oh hey my town is on munchies! I love indian food, theres a ton of asian food in Edison!
I'm Indian and I went to Edison for the first time last year. Seriously, wtf Indian invasion XD. And I thought Artesia/LA county was the Indian-american centric community. Nope, definitely NJ.
Love this family, keeping ever tradition alive..Even being thousands miles away from their homeland. Keep up the work..
I'll give him a ton of credit. For some who didn't notice something( definitely the non-Indians), the man's a polyglot and well versed in atleast 3 south indian languages. And to find such dedication towards Indian cooking is really rare here in the U.S.
This is beautiful. Indian food is amazing, I personally love it. Highly underrated.
One of my favorite restaurants in the east coast. The owner is so friendly, it felt like home. I just love it
I'm less than 2 minutes into the video and I had to stop and post this: what a nice family. I think the warm 'n fuzzies are creeping up on me! (I'm not an adventurous eater, but I'm digging these people...)
indian respect family and education for their children at top most priority ...they live with atleast 3 generations at one place sometime family sizes exceed 30-40 members even maternal side families are treated equally if they live nearby...but sometims it is also very hard on kids they cant refuse to obey elders easily like families feed their children even up to the age of 30-40 if he is not earning likewise sons/daughters has to keep parents with them they cant send in to old age ..this is considered bad in society...
Hey! The food is actually really healthy so you can try it out and not have a diarrhea at the end of it.
Really heart warming video, makes me want to try south Indian food. :)
+LUESoldat or just flap a burger on a grill and chug some beers to make up for the shot taste.

I'm lucky to be surrounded in other cultures food as authentic as it can get here in the UK. and I think you should deffo try some Indian foods. Dosa's rule. Properly nice people too, unlike some of the other cultures round here at least.
Savisto Home not just South Indian food. I've never ever had an Indian food and got disappointed. They are pure genius in using spices and make an unforgettable food with the simplest cheapest ingredients.
I like their energy. Very positive and optimistic
Why can’t I find the racist comments? I see other comments mentioning the. Dammit
Fake News....everybody wants to be a victim.
😂 same here
maybe they got deleted but people overreact way too much
just switch comments from top first to newest first
I am also 🤣
Love the way they all work as one big family. Indians in general are very hardworking people and they stick together, always. I've always appreciated how strong their bonds are amongst each other.
Thanks :) that's because we have huge families here and community plays an important role
I love south Indian food ! it's light to the stomach, good to taste !
Thank you for this series. Many of these episodes have made me weep. It's just so beautiful the strength, the joy, the hard work these people have. It's so inspiring
america needs a place called dosa hut
Theprophet1990 they have one in this town lol
There's one in Queens, NYC 😂😂😂😂
we have one here lfijfrifqwas
my dad owns it
The one in Edison is handsdown the best
A friend recommended this place and every time we are in NJ/NY area, we never miss going here. Love this place. I still remember, when our kid was all of 3 years and Mr. Sesha got him "bele obbaTTu", which we did not even ask for. He also had a bunch of those packed, without charging us. We believe he just wanted the little one to experience the dessert item. This courteous, generous, hospitality is rarely seen and visiting this place is a homely experience. Never miss their rasam/saaru that they provide as welcome drink. Overall a wonderful experience - food and service, every time.
I used to work in a restaurant where we treated each other like family, we ate together, etc. Needless to say, I never missed a day of work, I worked over time, an no matter how tired I was I loved working there.
I live super near Edison I'd love to try this restaurant!!!!
NarraSae go for it.

Im jealous: )
I’m in New Brunswick if anyone wants to try out this place sometime
I love, love, LOVE this story !! To feel connected in a Business, is to feel part of it.. and TO BE part of it. Food for thought - they are doing something right! 👍😬❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉
This episode made me cry with joy! This is America!!!!! We ARE and need to remember we are a melting pot of culture for a better tomorrow. Thank you for this.
I'd be more than happy to be a vegetarian if I were South Indian.
Awwww the pride this family takes in their food & culture is heart warming, I guess I’m crossing the bridge from NY to NJ soon!
I love Indian food! Some people need to be more open and try all kinds of foods coming from different cultures!
Great job Munchies! More of such videos please
"Thank God you gave me everything what I wanted, I don't miss anything on this earth"
That's how all of us should be in our lives. 🙏
I've eaten here once (back in 2016) and the elderly gentleman (Murali Iyengar sir) himself came and took mine and my friends' orders. Really warm, welcoming, down to earth. Still remember the onion chilli uttappam i had there it's the best i've tasted. Good quality at very reasonable prices. More importantly they serve with love and care. Wish you and your family continued success sir, I look forward to stopping by again soon 🙏🏼
It feels like india not US. This shows how much down to earth they are and preserving our culture even thousands of km away.❤❤
