    how the heck is that stanton hr #1? u had balls going into the third deck and stantons went down the line into the second deck

    • @thegreg5941
      @thegreg5941 3 года назад

      Stanton's was a line drive so it wouldve went further if there wasn't a stadium in his way

      This was a big misconception back in the 90s and it's why you saw so many supposed 500 ft home runs. The upper deck really isn't that much farther away from where the lower balls are hitting. Just because the ball hit me upper Deck doesn't mean it was continuing to move outward. Just a quick example, I was playing on a softball field where just passed the fence there were three sets of power lines. One of them was about 60 feet off the ground one was about 50 feet off the ground the next was about 40 feet off the ground. I hit a ball over the top power line, but it only landed about 30 ft past the fence. I hit one under the bottom power line that went about 40 ft past that. Had there been a stadium in the way the first one would have hit the upper deck the second one wouldn't have come close to the upper deck even though it went farther. Just because of balls getting hit in the third deck doesn't mean that ball was continuing to rise. It was likely on its way down. It's all about the angle and speed off the bat mixed with the weather conditions.
