My back pain was so intense that I went to the doctor. (I hardly ever see the doctor) I bent over to pick up my dog and almost couldn't get back up. I ended up buying a leap (and a new desk) and within a month or so I stopped having back pain. It was insane.
We have several Leap and Embody at work where I spend 8 hrs sitting daily with a few breaks here and there . I ended up buying the Embody gaming for myself at home since there is no comparison. I can only sit for 1hr on the leap before it starts to bottom out. In the Embody at home I sit for several hrs with no discomfort whatsoever. I also own a Mirra 2 which I hate. Before buying the Embody I did a 30 day trail of the Haworth Fern which is 90% as good as the Embody, but the seat is the only downside because it gets hot and after 1hr+ it starts to feel hard.
That's exactly how I felt when I had a Leap V2. After about 30-45 minutes, my butt was falling asleep. And no amount of adjustments helped. I wasn't a fan of the back either. Even though I'm 6'2, I didn't feel like my upper back was supported at all. I'm down to the Embody and Gesture now. I'm leaning more towards the Embody since 95% of my time spent in the chair is gaming on my PC. Since I'm a controller user, I recline more than I sit upright, and that's really where the Embody excels. The only thing that's really holding me back is the armrests. The Leap's were phenomenal, and the Gesture's are even better than that!
@csi2448 Leap v2 is well known for being a butt number. My solution was to sit criss cross one leg at a time every hours or so. And alternate which leg goes up
I ordered one of the used Leap chairs from your website and it arrived today! For a 6-7 year old chair, I am super impressed with how it’s held up! There is some light wear with some looseness in the fabric, but it seems cosmetic only so far. The chair is really well built and does not feel cheap like my other $200-300 chairs. I haven’t had a chance yet to sit for any length of time, but feels good so far! I didn’t know about BTOD until these videos started appearing in my feed. I watch a lot of their videos and they seemed to know what they were talking about, especially compared to other reviews and some of those ranked lists. I’m impressed by this chair and I’m looking forward to working from home! Edit: to clarify, I ordered one of the used chairs that was in very good condition and not refurbished. This chair definitely appears to not have needed to be refurbished. Appears in very good condition from unpacking and sitting in it briefly today.
I bought that chair second hand as well for the same reasons, and use it for a month now (resold my leap V1 high back that I used for a long time soon after) And I have been using the leap V2 at the office. I am now so sorry I sold my leap too soon, I absolutely hate everything about the Amia after a month of 8 to 12 hours a day on it. It really seemed softer in the beginning, but apparently just isn't my seat type, cause beside the numbness (and I am really used to thin seat pads) after some time, I'm starting to get back pains again. The back isn't really adjustable and in that way no where near as good, flexible, adjustable, comfortable or supporting as the V1 high back or V2 in my opinion. To me it just has a really pokey lumbar device that sags after some hours of use. I am not the standard user probably since I also prefer just about anything on the leap V1 over the V2, but I'm really in doubt what my next chair must be now (leap V1 are scarce here in NL and they have all had a whole life already) but the Amia will have to go for sure
Lately, I've been doing a lot of research on office chairs because I'm looking to get a good one that is better for my back. Part of the research has been watching a lot of videos from this channel. However, I'm struggling to know what to get because there are a lot of options and good chairs tend to be several hundred to 1,500 dollars and that's a lot of money to spend on a chair that I may not end up liking after sitting in it for a while. I don't want to spend that much unless I can be sure I'll like the chair, but without some kind of trial, I'm not sure how I can do that. Maybe any expensive chair will be better than my $90 Costco office chair, so it will probably be an improvement no matter what, but I want to make sure I make a good choice for me. I'm only 5'5" and weigh somewhere below 150 lbs. I believe Herman Miller has a two week trial period for their chairs, but if I can find something a bit cheaper, I'd like that.
I had so much pain and even headaches sitting in my Aeron for the last decade. Leap V2 has been a game changer for me. Got one with extra thick back/seat padding.
I really wish the Leap chairs had a better headrest option. I like having a headrest on my chairs because I like to lean back when I'm watching RUclips videos, and the Leap headrest doesn't look comfortable at all, lol. If they could put the Gesture headrest on the Leap V2, it would be probably close to perfect. I still have yet to find a Steelcase dealer near me, but I really want to try these chairs out.

Just got the Leap V2 from you guys. I like it alot. I keep messing with the adjustments, and I know it takes a big to get used to. I am not used to 2 different adjustments, 1 for recline tension and another for lumbar force or firmness. It felt grteat on my back, I tried taking the lumbar in and out a few times, and I keep putting it back in. I am in medicine, working remote now, and when I increase the tension all the way on the recline, it feels good and then I am like what do I do with the lumbar, and I am just getting used to it. But it is def a great chair. Researching adjustments and all but I think I just have to get used to it? I like the full support when you recline, even though it doesn't have the rocking I think for work hours it will improve my posture but I have the Colomy Atlas I was going to return, but I might keep that since it has a decent rock. But The leap from you guys is great, just getting used to it and hope the back tension and lumbar force/firmness I can find a good amount

Amia was so disapponting... You sit on it and the cylinder makes two noticeable drops. The lumbar adjustment kept falling down. It would never stay in place. And the seat had a weird wobble only on wide side. Maybe steelcase sent a dud?
I had the embody, hated it. I dont see how people think its comfy. My Lazyboy is way better. I returned it. I dont want to be sitting straight up the entire time. There is essentially no cushion. Not a fan. Its not that good as people say.
The Leap is better than the Amia in every single way. If any Steelcase people are watching, make a Leap with Gesture arms and you will have the top selling chair on the market.
I agree, that would be something really interesting! A Leap with truly movable armrests would be awesome, I don't really like these "4D" things on my Think and Amia (and leap V2 at the office), it's great they move backward and inward, but they don't move outward. That is something I do miss at home where my desk height isn't perfect
@@justintran5963 here 'better' is subjective though; I'm sitting on one as I'm typing this and I prefer the leap V1 seat (that I used for years at home) and V2 seat (that I've used for years at the office) over this Amia (that I'm using for a little over a month) so much so that I'm absolutely reselling this one :)
@@stefandothill I have a V1 Leap and my neighbor across the street has an Amia and I sit in it all the time and don't like it. I don't like the Gesture either, just the arms. The Leap is that magic chair they have that has good arms but needs killer arms like the Gesture. They really should be an upgrade option on the Leaps.
A commentator rightfully pointed that you guys only say this because you sell these chairs in abundance. A case in point will be the relatively poor ratings you give to the Herman Miller Aeron chairs. Leap, Gesture and Aeron are the flagship chairs when one thinks of office chairs. And they're all roughly at par. A Gesture chair isn't going to radically different in comfort than Leap. Aeron is one of a kind with its mesh design which feels like one is suspended in air. Anyway, coming to the point. In your 2024 Tier Listing, which covers about 60 chairs, you gave the Aeron Classic is D tier. Because one dude gave it a C, and the other gave it an F. And what was the reasoning? "Aeron Classic is sooo old, it's 30 years old chair guyssss", "Oh don't buy the Classic it's a ticking timebomb", "Oh that chair sucks because you don't get the Herman Miller warranty". I mean come on dude, get real. You sell and shill Leap and Amia because they're abundant. Gesture, Aerons are not.
If you look up the best office chair on google, or any chiro/reputable site, Leap and Gesture are usually within the top 1-5. The other's you mentioned I agree probably not as bad as they said. But That doesn't mean the Steelcase chairs are not as good or better. I just got a Leap V2, was in between Crandall and them. I am a MD so I like the medicine behind it, and Crandall's stuff was too thick for ergonomics with no waterfall .
Why are you making this comment if you haven’t used the chairs? You read one comment from someone that doesn’t know what they are talking about and formulated this entire opinion from that. We ranked the Leap as our favorite chair long before we ever sold it. And how can you say that the Leap and Amia are more abundant than the Aeron? The Aeron is the most widely available used chair on the market. Leaps and Amias are not nearly as abundant as the Aeron. We choose not to sell the Aeron because we think it is terrible. -Ryan
@@btodtv we're in 2024, good quality chairs for our posture should be cheap asf already... we've had office chairs for DECADES already how tf is it feasible that the most beneficial ones are $500+
I do not understand you. You recently made a video with armchairs for 2024 - the steelcase was the "A TIER" chair and today it is the S tier? You change something every now and then and I don't know what chair I should buy
Sorry for any confusion. I intro'd the video saying both of these chairs have the qualities to hit the coveted S Tier, but the Leap shape of the seat doesn't fit me quite as well so that is A tier for me, with the rest of the chair S. Amia is S tier all day IMO, but that is just me of course :) -Greg
Not true...We didn't sell or have an affiliate partnership with Steelcase for two years while we promoted their brand. The fact is they have good options and others that aren't great. It's easy to ignore our body of work and make a short sighted comment like this, but it isn't the truth -Greg
They should make replaceable or swappable seats so we can get more dense seats for people who are heavier. I can literaly feel the screws under the pad on these.
Crandall Office Furniture sells the Amias with a thicker seat cushion (i think +1/2 inch) they have a video about it on their channel. I think the base price is $519
This is the exact type of seat I wouldn't recommend. Thicker doesn't mean it provides better support and they have a hard edge that cuts circulation at the back of your leg. Chairs should have a waterfall front, per the leading ergonomists in the world. You can feel that pressure in the back of your leg and it is uncomfortable IMO -Greg
Different densities is definitely a step in the right direction for some, but in most cases I would just suggest looking at a different high performance ergonomic chair -Greg
I bought refurb Leap V2 (6 ft 2 and 325 lbs). After about 16 months the gas cylinder began failing. I ended up going on Amazon and buying a brand new Leap V2 Plus (Amazon even offered no interest financing over 6 months so I used that even though I hadn’t initially planned to do that). I got the cylinder fixed with an OEM replacement cylinder and it is a spare office chair now because once I sat in the leap V2 Plus it was so much more comfortable. The seat didn’t feel bottomed out, it more than supported me when I sat in it, which I then realized I wasn’t supported nearly as well in the Leap V2 as I had thought. I have plenty of space on my sides and can move positions more comfortably. It was the best purchase I made during Covid.
I'm sure very few will believe me, especially on a channel of this nature.... But lower back pain (and chronic pain in general) is psychosomatic 95% of the time. I won't go off and write a giant essay here, but reading some books by "John E. Sarno" might help you INFINITELY more than an expensive chair. The people who have no understanding of this will feel attacked and think I'm a complete nutjob for suggesting it, but the people that have gone through intense bouts of chronic pain and recovered from it will know what I am talking about and they will never ever unsee it for the rest of their life. I have spent a significant portion of my life studying these topics in extreme depth. I don't think sitting all day is good for you either way, but the root cause of chronic pain is not what people think it is. Lower back pain is the #1 chronic pain btw.
@@btodtv The pain is real its just not because of structure abnormalities, or problems with your back.. in the vaaast majority of cases. Anyways, I appreciate the respectful response even if you don't agree with me, and I understand how outlandish my statements may seem compared to the common consensus. I definitely still think ergonomics is very important at the same time, and having a good chair is incredibly important. I like your channel a lot, keep up the good work. 😎
I'm sorry, the softness of the Amia is not even in the same Galaxy as the Leap and both of them suffer from the same Steelcase stupidity of having a bit of a hole towards the end of your butt, especially if the seat is all the way forward. If you're a skinnier dude you will always feel that hole at the back of your ass, which defeats the whole purpose of buying any of the 2 chairs.
+1, these guys don't sell the Aeron Classic/Remastered so they're not S tier. In a previous listing, these dudes gave the Aeron Classic a C tier because it's old 😂
Oops, it's worse than I thought. These shills gave the Aeron Classic a D, because one dude gave it a C and the other an F. Reasoning? It's a 30 year old chair and you don't get the Herman Miller warranty. And some fearmongering that it's "a ticking timebomb" because of its age. Source: 3:45 minute mark at the 2024 BTOD tier list video which covers 60 chairs. Pathetic dudebros who've excelled in the niche of marketing their high profit margin chairs to unsuspecting nerds👌
We did sell Aeron classic, and we stopped because it isn't a great chair. Like Robert said, we sell these two because we believe they are a good fit for a large percentage of people. We ranked the Leap v2 as our #1 chair for years prior to selling them -Greg
Speaking from my experience: the Aeron is a great chair ONLY IF it fits you. I believe that there are a lot of people (like me) that don’t fit perfectly on any aeron size, which is a big problem if you are going to sell chairs online. In my case the backrest of the B is too small but the seat on the C is too big and it hurts my legs. So in summary, I completely get why they stoped selling the aeron and don’t put the chair on S-Tier. I’ll be returning mine and see if the Leap works for me. Let’s see if it’s really an S-Tier chair :)

I had the embody, hated it. I dont see how people think its comfy. My Lazyboy is way better. I returned it. I dont want to be sitting straight up the entire time. There is essentially no cushion. Not a fan. Its not that good as people say.
Do you deliver to europe or only us?
Only the USA for now -Greg
@@btodtv I have been interested in the eurotech vera but there is no EU store. As you are in the industry do you know if I am missing anything in EU?
Great question. I can reach out to Eurotech to see -Greg
Saw the Lamia coming from 0:30
S tier is leap v2 and a purple seat cushion (for me). The super plush one. added a headrest.
Nice comparation, could be nice if you compare the amia and the amia air 3D
The Leap is better than the Amia in every single way. If any Steelcase people are watching, make a Leap with Gesture arms and you will have the top selling chair on the market.
I agree, that would be something really interesting!
A Leap with truly movable armrests would be awesome, I don't really like these "4D" things on my Think and Amia (and leap V2 at the office), it's great they move backward and inward, but they don't move outward. That is something I do miss at home where my desk height isn't perfect
I’d argue the Amia’s seat is better than the Leap’s. Everything else yeah.
@@venom5809 I completely agree
They need headrests.
The office chair comfort ranked guide just hangs up when I enter in my information. What do.
It's fixed! It's great!
C tier for me
A commentator rightfully pointed that you guys only say this because you sell these chairs in abundance.
-Ryan
@josephperlman6599 I remove the lumbar and then turn the knob to the lowest setting. -Ryan
I meant the seat back tension, but its all good. It's just a chair, I have to stay busy. It's pretty amazing. @@btodtv
Ah yes, let me pay 1000+ for a chair that definitely does not cost even close to that.
How much do you think it should cost?
@@btodtv Do you think ergohuman gen 2 is much worse than amia or leap?
Okay pero my budget is $300 and I'm plus sized.... Please help
Amia refurbished is the only great chair that's remotely close to that price range
good vid
People sleeping on lifeform executive office chairs. Leap and amia doesnt even come close to the quality of life form.
as long as you guys discount and partnership have means steelcase S tier
I think you are right that very few people are going to believe that their chronic back pain is just in their head. Wild take imo. -Ryan
Morning!
Lmao morning!
Good morning! -Greg
Good night!
You guys only say this because you sell these chairs in abundance. The reality is that neither of these chairs are S tier for the majority of people
Or are these the chairs we choose to sell because we think they are S-Tier? 😁 - RG
