    Great video Henry as always! I'm just going into my second year of Architecture school. Doing the first year given the circumstances was... interestingly challenging, especially when it came to doing models at home, cause the workshop with closed most of the year.
    Already I can relate with the professors intentionally/unintentionally affecting my design process. I found I would have many "unusual designs" at the beginning of every project and every time I finished speaking with a professor I found myself arguing with myself and always designing more to the design concepts they left, instead of trusting my own (cause they've got the experience). I'm going to take a different approach come to this years coming projects. Thanks for the advice!!

      Hi Kris, kudos to you for getting through the first year during Covid and not quitting! I remember 1/3 of my undergrad classmates dropped out after 1st year. It only gets more fun I promise.
      As you progress through your semesters I think you will develop better instinct on what to do with feedback. Honestly my 2 years of architecture school felt like a fog. Without proper guidance from professors, my projects would have been a mess.

    Thanks bro. It's 3:45am where I'm at watching this. Says alot about my bad sleeping habits. And yes just recently, I tried getting some vitamin D. For business tips I totally agree that professional practice was a joke. But I bought Eric Reinholt's (30x40) course - Architectural Entrepreneurship Toolkit. And it's the best thing ever. Since then quit my job and freelancing here and there. Hated a 9-5 job, and now I work 6 days a week, 24hrs a day. Lols... Anyways keep Em video coming 🙌

      Oh wow Timothy, where are you watching this from? I see you are still on architecture school schedule lol. Eric's stuff is awesome! Some of the best investment I made. Have you checked out this Teachable course? It's expensive but totally worth it. In the future, I think you should totally chime in on life after quitting the 9-5, but really it's more like 9-7, isn't it!?

      @@HenryGao yes bro. Funny thing. Got married last year and used part of the wedding loan on buying the teachable course. Hehehe, either way, it was a win win for me.

    Hey Henry! I’ve been really enjoying your content lately, I’d love to hear about how you managed to travel to 30 countries. That sounds like an absolute dream for me as an arch student

      Oh yes! that needs to be on a video some day. But the quick and dirty answer is a combination of backpacking, hostel life, gaming airline points, and being savvy with where you go.

    Hi Henry, great video! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am about to go to architecture undergrad at the University of Manchester (I was originally going to Cambridge, however I failed to meet my conditions due to cancelled exams in Shanghai because of Covid 🥲 long story…) I have a few questions in mind tho. How much do the rankings of the architecture school(s) you graduated from matter? And are you considering to get licensed? I actually have a ton of questions about the professional architecture career (such as getting licensed) so it would be great if you can make a video on that!

    • @HenryGao

      Where you went to school doesn't matter as much as you think (maybe in china where reputation is more valued). Yes, in the process of getting licensed. Check out Demi Lee's channel for architecture content.

    thanks for the great tips! Im in first semester of architecture school and even thought I love it, my assignments are out of control! We have to design three models in Rihno and it takes me hours to make some lines. I watch tutorials but that takes time as well. Do you have any tip to learn the program faster?

    • @HenryGao
      @HenryGao  2 года назад +1

      Hi, a good advice that as served me well in school is ONLY model what’s in the view for presentation or rendering. There’s no shortcut in learning how to use a particular software like Rhino, the more time you invest in learning the software, the faster you will get to do what you want it to do.

    HI Henry! I’m also located in San Francisco and I’m in my second year of college. I haven’t taken any architectural classes yet bc I’m not sure where I’m supposed to start? Am I supposed to go to a school that’s all architecture or do I go to CCSF and take architecture classes there? Can you make a video of classes needed for it? I’ve had trouble with guidance and I feel like my councilor doesn’t understand on what I need to take for architecture
