Josei is the most underappreciated demographic genre, everyone is all about shonen, seinen and even shoujo but with josei people act like it barely exists 🥺
Kuragehime was my first manga (and anime!) back in the 2010's! It's still probably my favorite manga of all time. I'm so glad to see josei getting some love, and it's especially great to see another guy who loves josei just like I do!
Im a simple girl. I see Rakugo Shinjuu I click. Thanks for giving it the attention it so desperately deserves. It makes me sad that I can't even tell people it's my fav without them being like what is that?
I feel like this video is a sign that I need to finally watch/read "Life Lessons with Uramichi Oniisan". I was also surprised to see that Osomatsu-San was a Josei ahaha. Thanks for the recs. I've read or watched a few of these series, but I've haven't heard of a good chunk of them Edit: I unfortunately remember Loveless. Also, Chihayafuru is great. My sister and I loved watching all 3 seasons of the anime together
My TBR is already teetering dangerously but I guess we're adding stuff. Your little section on "Princess Jellyfish" is making me want to reread it so badly. Great vid! ^_^
Yoo Osomatsu-san mention! Big vouch for that one on the comedy section. Thank you for putting together this catalog of recommendations! I can't wait to check more of these out! The ones you've mentioned that I have read/seen before were so influential for me, so I'm excited to check out the others!
bless you for making this video omg 😭🙏 i’ve been borrowing princess jellyfish volumes from my local library the past couple months and i’ve actually been obsessed, i NEED to explore the genre
Actually, Nana was published in Cookie, a shojo magazine 💜 but Nana is a series that confuses people😅. Love this video!!! It is amazing and full of great recommendations! I took notes of some series. Thank you thank youuuuu💜💜💜
Pet Shop of Horrors I think was the first official Josei anime series from 1999 1999 - 2013 2014 - 2028 1999 - 2014 2015 - 2030 By a 15 and 16 year margin, all Josei anime generations
Oh shit i didn’t even know The Gokusen was a Josei series. I only watched the anime, got kinda creeped out by the hinting at a thing between Shin and Yankumi but i enjoyed it overall. I think those feelings stem from the fact that I liked Shin and had a crush on him, plus the power dynamics didn’t sit well with me. I’ll have to contend with those feelings if I ever decide to read the manga. But this was a pretty informative video and I appreciate that! (especially now that I’m actually in the josei age demographic.)
Thanks for the recommendations! BTW there's also a live action drama for Tramps Like Us streaming on Retrocrush (titled with the more direct translation "You're My Pet"). It's short and some of the story gets left out but I really enjoyed. The male lead is also aged up to 20 which, personally, I appreciated for a live action.
I definitely was first exposed to josei thru jdramas. I was surprised to learn that most jdramas I watched were adaptations of josei and Shouto mangas lol I used to wonder why there weren’t as many animes🎉being made for this genre only to realize it’s because they get live action adaptations instead.
Me screaming because not only did you mention My androgynous boyfriend BUT SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH US??? That manga had me on chokehold and is my favorite thing ever actually😭😭😭

Literally this!!! Every anime con I go to almost always has just shounen merch and I WISH we could just have some shoujo and josei merch for once
Josei is the underdog category, IK I’m technically the demographic, but there’s so much about the works to love.
Thank you for this! I’m 30 now and I’m been looking for anime/manga that is not in high school but also doesn’t have sexualised characters.

Loved Princess Jellyfish growing up, watched the anime first but read the manga after those episodes.

I wish more people gave Neighborhood Story/Gokinjo Monogatari it's flowers - it's my favorite of Ai's works
literallyyyyyyyy

Descending Stories has a full anime adaptation and it's gorgeous!! 10/10 recommend!!

I was not expecting Osomatsu-san to be a josei 😭
I literally jumped when I saw Osomatsu San 😂 I thought about the story and it makes sense why it’s in the catalog!
PRINCESS JELLYFISH MENTION AAAAAAAH
20:40 Bunny drop anime is so good. I watched it ignoring the manga. I just wish....ugh. UGH Im cryihg

Yea, I did mention that Nana ran in Cookie which was later turned into a josei magazine. So it’s actually more of a hybrid tbh.
@@itsbasicboi totally agree ahahah
As someone who has wanted to REALLY get into this demographic more, you have done me a wonderful service Basic Boi. Thank you! 😄

I'm gonna need part 2
The dumpster fire that burned you from the inside out - lol you got me laughing its so true im still so sad about bunny drop 😭😭
Lol so true - definitely a josei anime to josei manga pipeline
I loved “idol dreams” and “kechonpa”. Both are not finished, or maybe not translates in English completely.
I love Josei manga so much it hurts 🥰🫠
loved this video!! def gonna check out some of these :)
I have never read manga, but I love hearing people talk about it. Thanks for sharing your favorites with us!
Me screaming because not only did you mention My androgynous boyfriend BUT SOMETHINGS WRONG WITH US??? That manga had me on chokehold and is my favorite thing ever actually😭😭😭
Princess Jellyfish was my Josei introduction too! I still haven’t finished the manga, but someday!
Yayyy!!! Princess Jellyfish love 💕 (btw i loveee your videos you’re lowkey inspiring me to come back myself xo)
Hapi Mari was my personal favorite!
*vigorously taking notes while simultaneously buying everything online* Well I know what I'll be doing for the next week.
LIFE LESSONS WITH URAMICHI ONIISAN MENTIONED, LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Unpopular Opinion: Josei > Shouji
Is there a segment about Eden of the East? That's my favorite Josei anime.
I haven't read any of these, BUT i thought "Everyone's Getting Married" and "Kimi wa Petto" were cute :)
bunny drop more like bunny fell off
.😂.😂.😂.😂, more like Bunny Flop.
yours was better
👍🏾
Let's goooooo
Most women are too busy dating or watching live action dramas, that's why Josei is unpopular
congrats on graduating!!
