I've been listening to this song today driving back to home town from my cell phone. I stopped outside my house and I could not get out of the car before it finished again. I went to bed and I played the video and I need to play it again.
Not a dry eye in the house--including mine. This was simply one of the best groups of the 80's!!The energy, musical fire, and pure joy of this band has rarely been matched.Thanx much for posting!!
Something for everyone here. Crowd pleasing swing and energy with a celebratory tone, along with the rough edges of the avante garde. Astounding playing here.
One of the songs that made me fall in love with the avant-garde when I was 16. Still thrilling today. Didn't catch who the bass player and drummer are.
Definitely thank you very much. All the clips of George, Don, Dannie and Cameron from the Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival are simply fantastic. If you also have the clip of "What a Wonderful World" from that set could you please upload it. It was on RUclips for a long time but they pulled it this summer for the usual b.s. reasons. Reposting it and all the other concert clips of this group will help keep the musical genius of George, Don and Dannie alive.
Yes, and not to take away from this in any way, but they unfortunately had lost Danny Richmond the year before and he really was a driving force in their greatness. Alll these guys died so young it's tragic.
I'm not generally a fan of atonal jazz. But like Mingus, Pullen skates on the edge of melody - and it works. Mingus usually has a few fingers on the rail, Pullen at least a fingernail...
Don Pullen 凄まじい🎹
クラシックピアニストに観せたら、ビックリしてました。
ジャズピアニスト🎹アッパレ🎉
唯一無二のDonさん😢
ありがとうございました。🙏😢
When heard Fon Pullen play for the first time he became my hero.what a tight group. Michael Harris
