As a former referee and player, although its been years since Ive played.....😔 I can assure you 90% of #2's are #1's on most teams, from a coaching and team perspective, id refrian from number systems. But other than that good stuff👍
@@substancexabuse6466 I'm not sure I understand your criticism. 90% of 2's are 1's? Objectively that's false. The primary criticism of this system (which isn't mine and is pretty contemporary among top teams) I find to be valid is that it inadvertently causes people to view their role as ridged, which isn't great. 1's and 2's often alternate responsibility depending on the layout and situation, but you ABSOLUTELY must understand your role before stepping out onto the field. If you haven't read Marcello's book on this subject, I would highly recommend it.
@@SVPPaintball I was just referring to your narration, I was trying to explain to the wife competitive paintball and such and stumble across your videos, good work. I just skimmed breifly, I think most view's you get are new players obviously looking for more than just casual speedball sundays. I understand your POV and the numbers on board and coaching perspective but, I find refering to positions as front mid back more of an ego check and barrier when speaking to teams/players in general. What I meant by most #1vip's on any team are #2 position players(mid) and usually start out as fronts blah blah. Numbers sometimes subconciously go to a player or teams head, creates stress or worse they go rambo and lanes change. Will look into him, its been along time but id like to get back into the sport and hopefully coach a team to keep busy.
As always, incredible content. So much of paintball outside of maybe the last year is saying something without saying it. So nice to see someone just lay it out. My team watches all your videos to try to up our Paintball IQ.
I can’t imagine having information like this when I was growing up in the paintball world. The way you are dissecting the sport is amazing and I hope it gets more people out on the field !!
In the match? I let them fall to the ground. Otherwise after the match, I either grab them (If I’m still alive) or we have a pod runner pick them up. Hope that helps :)
Mid doesn't even really exist as a position as it did before, the way I see it. 7 & 10 man, sure - but 5 man not really. It's almost non-existent. Realistically you're just a fill player.
I think it exists the same way as it has since the NXL become the predominant league. At a high level, it doesn’t exist as rigidly as this video suggests, but this video serves as a foundation for those that don’t have this understanding. Without knowing what your job is as the number two, you often abandon your front player by looking inside the field instead of wrapping when you have control. I see waaaayy to many number two’s who give up control unnecessarily because they took a little heat and decided to look inside the field for the next 5 minutes, which I feel is cause by a lack of understanding your job.
Where my number 2's at??!
