    I'm so glad I found this channel! Now I can rekindle my old "hobby" if I had one to begin with. My "collection" mainly(or wholly!) consisted of just buying already potted cacti and arranging them. Now, with you, I have a channel I can depend on to guide me through the entire cultivation process. Much thanks for creating this channel. It's a great source.

      Where's "here?"

    • @joanneacevedo8201
      @joanneacevedo8201 6 лет назад

      Debra Lee Baldwin in my home in the tropics

    • @QueenofSucculents
      @QueenofSucculents  6 лет назад

      The reason for the pumice is to aerate the soil and absorb excess moisture. My concern is that your native rocks might introduce pathogens or not have the same water-absorbing properties as pumice mined from North America. But succulents are highly adaptable, and after all they didn't originate anywhere near those pumice mines (so it's not "natural" for them), so I'd say give it a try.

    • @joanneacevedo8201
      @joanneacevedo8201 6 лет назад

      Debra Lee Baldwin, my volcanic rocks are from USA and I do use these with orchids. I understand that the pumice is also a form of volcanic. Thank you for your though.

      No, euphorbias may look like cacti, but they're from South Africa, have very different flowers and spines, and are characterized by milky sap.
