  • How to make a cactus garden bowl planted design
Ingredients - range of mini cactus and succulents, free-draining soil, a dish or bowl, gravel and stones , decor /garnish ( we used drift wood )
At the start of the year the house can seem a bit empty, so now is a good time to add a few plants. The range is huge, but for an easy to look after option and for a modern look then cactus are the ideal choice.
These little cactus are ideal and just perfect to use in a mini cactus garden. Just be careful of the spikes! Gloves are a good idea, or a cardboard collar to hold them!
Have fun and create a design that suits your space. Just keep them on the cool and very dry side in the winter months, and don’t overwater in the summer, especially if your container has no drainage holes.
Other than that it’s easy to maintain, just keep in good light and enjoy 😊

Lovely. I made a succulent bowl garden a few days ago but now think I may add some driftwood.

Thank you 😊 the commercial ones are quite plain - when you make your own you can really add bits and details to make it special 🌼

Lovely John! I love the amethyst added in for sparkle! I'm not that fond of cacti generally, but you've made it so appealing, I am looking at them differently. I hope you had a bit of rest during your busy holiday. Happy New Year!

Thank you 😊 the cacti can be a bit boring so the other elements take it up a bit 😀 this bit of amethyst I have had since I was a teenager! Yes, all rested now - Happy New Year to you too 🙋🏼‍♂️🌼

I’m passing this on to my granddaughter and niece, they both love cacti and succulents. Thank you for showing an easy and quick way to showcase these little beauties. 🪴🎍🌵

I wish I had access to the materials you have. I will go out and mine my drive though for rocks. ; ) Is that a beautiful new ring I see? Happy New Year!

Thank you 😊 it is worth collecting a mix of stones and gravel to get a bit of variety in something like this.
Yes - I actually managed to get my wedding ring off - it was so tight I feared it would need cut off, but one night it was looser so with a struggle I took it off - now getting resized up four sizes! So this was to so I wasn’t without - and people might really notice that 😀
Happy New Year as well 🌼🙋🏼‍♂️

Lovely garden, John. It makes me wish I liked cacti more than I do! A friend gave me a suculent garden last year, and I'm pleased to say I've got some of it still. Your fine example really shows off the plants well, and I like the driftwood very much. I hope your stay in Scotland wasn't all work, but some fun, too. Nice to see you in front of the camera once again. Have a wonderful week!
