I love the recorder both as a soloist and in consort. It's such a noble instrument! Everything that Telemann and other composers wrote for it is diverse and exquisite.
The music of a baroque master played with wonderful verve and sensitivity. The lovely recorder player makes the recorder sound even better than a flute.I have never heard such purity and complexity from a recorder. Bravo indeed.
@@danawinsor1380 Agree. Fully the equal of Bach or Handel, but got (for some reason) a bad press in the 19th century all the way until the Baroque revival after WW II.

Atemberaubend!
Very accomplished playing! If I ever get to Bremen I would love to see this band of musicians live! They are electric...great presence. Telemann has always had great presence for me too. He is one of those composers whose personality shines through his music. Not something that can be said of every composer! I know he communicated with the French philosophes...and I expect he was an intelligent, imaginative and witty conversationalist! His works indicate as much.
Very nice, indeed. Those damned high F#'s don't lie naturally on the recorder.Hence one needs block off the end and finger the G just above it. So one learns to bend a bit and bring a knee up a little to get it right. For fast passages one needs to have the knee ready to avoid losing a tooth. :)
Thank you for a very educating comment! I’m glad I read it before finishing the video so I could see what you described. Really neat stuff! Thanks again
Bellissimo concerto! Grazie mille grazie grazie
Amazing and bravo Dorothee! Absolutely brilliant. I am using Bremer Barockorchester's Telemann to introduce my classes to this great composer - these are the best performances of these works I've heard. Also the two "Polish" concertos (E minor for trav. and recorder ands A minor for recorder and viola da gamba). Thanks so much! Peter
If I ever get access to a time machine I am going to go to this concert, because every video from it has been utterly magnificent. Thank you for posting them and thus letting me discover Dorothee Oberlinger, who I had somehow not heard of despite being a recorder player for coming on twenty years. Exciting, inspiring, utterly joyful.
Just incredible virtuosity. Is this technique called "(doppelter) Zungenschlag"? It is applied in an astonishingly precise manner. Orchestra produces a surprisingly full, well-balanced and lively sound.

I was going to say! At the tempo they're taking, it feels more like a fiery Vivace or an Allegro than Tempo di Minuetto. Still brilliant, though! This is one of my favorite Early Music ensembles, so I I won't complain! If I were conducting this though, I would take that tempo slower, more like an actual minuet.
Yes that is absolutely a minuet tempo. But telemann deliberately writes much faster notes than you normally see in a minuet, making is sound double speed even though the pulse is a minuet. That's why he calls it "tempo di minuet" not an actual "minuet". If you play a normal baroque minuet at that pulse it would sound normal.
Very nice performance - except for the last movement. "Tempo di Menuetto" means: "To be played in menuet-tempo". Not: "Play the damn thing as fast as possible".
Her recorder embodies the musical aesthetics of Telemann,
She Ìs a modern Alchemist generating impression and comfort and pleasure
I often wonder how the first person to perform this would have been perceived by their peers. What a wonderful idea.
Telemann + Mrs.Oberlinger + BB , a marvelous gift.

How can people dislike this? It's easy to press a button. Instead, make something better than Dorothee. Jealousy is the name...

this performance will make Telemann dance in his grave, with joy!
These videos are gifts for the youtube community! Please keep them coming!
She was so full of witt and spirit, and so was the orchestra, it was sheer joy to sit and attend.
This is so brilliant there are no words. Telemann is smiling down from his Parnass.
Telemann: possibly the most underrated composer ever.

Quelle merveille !

One of the most passionate pieces in Telemann's repertoire. A perfect performance. Thank you.

This is brilliant. Satisfies me musically and spiritually. Wonderful playing. Glad to see that I am not the only who takes the recorder seriously.

All these years with all five recorders and I never heard music like this.
Now FINALLY, there goes someone who took their school recorder classes seriously, played musically, and did NOT sound like a dying cat!
I think that was actually a dying cat.😸
SCHOOL classes??
@@InnaInMusic well tbh I don’t think anyone took school classes seriously

Brava! What recorder playing! And ensemble is excellent too.

The sparkling recorder lady is a great virtuoso. Always a delight to listen to her performances. (Is the last movement really a minuetto?)

How I enjoyed this concert/. Not only the flutist/.

Fantastic performance. A bit rushed for a minuet but still well-played. Most enjoyable.
mic drop!
After 13:32 can't nobody tell her nothin
The recorder is the woodwind instrument with the fastest tongue articulation and that's pretty impressive.
Is that a tenor recorder?
Alto. No need for a tenor as the piece only goes down to the g above middle c
Very nice performance - except for the last movement. "Tempo di Menuetto" means: "To be played in menuet-tempo".
Not: "Play the damn thing as fast as possible".
The poor violins and violas have no camera on them. I would have liked to have seen their faces, too :).
Nah, strings always get all the attention. This time, the beautiful #recorder is the star. 🌟 🎼🎶
