I'm suddenly dealing with all of this. Especially the depression and suicidal thoughts. I used to be a different person and I hate who I am now. I want old me back. I just want my mind back. My drive and my will to do ANYTHING. I turn 49 in a week and I can't imagine feeling this way from now on. Being a woman is so hard and it's so unfair
We hear you! Just when we should be at our best, with all the knowledge and experience, we get knocked down by debilitating mental and physical symptoms. These symptoms literally change us as a person, and we no longer recognize who we are. Please talk to your doctor, as there is help out there. HRT has helped many women feel like themselves again.❤
@herstasishealth I'm gonna make an appointment and ask about it. I'm on antidepressants with a booster as well and it helps very little but it's probably kept me alive at this point. I am grateful for your video. Thanks
Thank you for helping me feel like I'm not alone. I'm 51, postmenopausal and have been miserable for 10 years. Every week to month I have new symptom. Depression is normal for but the debilitating anxiety has been too much. I too have heard it will level out but I haven't seen it yet. So far ive tried everything out there and there's been no change.
" Very pissed off at the healthcare system" ....me too! The mental health system is really failing women, not just medical. Thank you for posting this video and sharing your story. I will say low level HRT was a life changer for me.
I had to go out of my healthcare plan (Kaiser) and paid out of pocket. It was not that expensive as once you get started on right dose you can see that person every few months. Definitely get more opinions until you find someone who will listen and work with you. @@kristiedcox1971
Hi Jen thanx for sharing , I was 43 I was always working out an I just realised I was watching the clock at class . I just didn’t want to be there , I didn’t want to be around people . 2 weeks later o got up an couldn’t eat I was shouting at my kids goin to Skool . I went to work an just broke down I couldn’t work an walked out never phoned my hubby just got on a bus an went missing for 15 hours . Sat drinking in a bar alone an cried . Went gp next day he sed I had a mental breakdown an prescription for anti depressants. Five years later I was on the highest meds having tried so many different medications and under a psychiatrist. Weight gain brain fog , itchy skin , mood swings , deep depression, suicidal attempts, just haterd my body my life . Even my kids an hubby annoyed me . But no doctor or psychiatrist sed to me maybe it’s the menopause! I figured it out for myself by doin my research. Am 7 Alf years in now peri menopause. Am not the person I used to be confidentence stripped , self esteem gone . Can’t even work because my brain fog is so bad. Incontinence I have to wear proper huge pads just to walk around . Am now on HRT it’s helped with my sleep an a little mental health but not 100 💯. Am a shell of the person I used to be . But am not as sucicidal . I have lost 4 stone of the 6 stone I gained . I did drink to hide my pain a lot back then but cut down a lot nowadays but I still like a drink specially when am feeling like totally shite . Tonight is one them days . Been feeling really low past week tried staying eating healthy an even forced myself on a walk yday but couldn’t wait to get home as I was so exhausted. Waking up feeling exhausted when I’ve had 12-14 hours sleep is crap . Women who don’t suffer with severe symptoms think this is all in are head . And believe me it ain’t it’s excruciating pain to not have ur brain functioning or bones aching even though ur active ( or try to be ) . Not being able to work , when u have worked ur whole life is shit !
Hi Paula! Menopause can be such a game-changer, and most women aren't prepared for it. I'm really sorry to hear that it's had such a negative impact on your life. It can really turn everything upside down and make things so much harder. I totally understand your frustration and what you're going through. Our advice is to find a doctor who really gets menopause and can help manage the symptoms. It sounds like you're on the right track with HRT (hormone replacement therapy). For many women, it's an absolute lifesaver. It might take some time, but eventually, you'll start feeling the effects of HRT and won't need drinking as a coping mechanism anymore. Thanks for sharing your detailed menopause story with us. We really appreciate you taking the time. We hope you'll start feeling better soon and maybe even get back to working if that's what you want to do. Hang in there!
I'm 45 and I feel just the same like you do. I was very active happy person whole my life. Doing sports every day. It's already 2 long painful years I don't recognize myself. In 2 weeks I go to gynecologist to ask for HRT and I pray it will help me. I really hope she will give me testosterone as well.
I'm sorry to hear that you've been struggling for two years and not feeling like yourself. Hopefully, your gynecologist can help you feel much better by prescribing HRT. Please send us an update and let us know if you are taking HRT and feeling better. Thank you for tuning in and leaving your comment.❤
Thank you for sharing your story, I'm 48 and I've been in Perimenopaus for about+- 3 years. I have anxiety, chronic fatigue and joint pain in my knees and my hips and Pelvis. I've put on 17kg in 18 months. I have no energy at all to do simple things at home. I get tired easily and I just feel like I'm dying slowly 😢. And no one seems to understand the severity of what we as women go through during this time 😢
It can be incredibly difficult when, just as you think life is about to get easier with age and experience. Along comes menopause and makes us feel completely out of control. I hope you feel better soon.
I am now in full menopause at 50 and that's when things got really bad mentally. I am so tired and on meds to help with the really strong desire to just not be here anymore but those thoughts are still there, just more diluted. Life is far from fun right now.
I am 51 I am not experiencing any of these symptoms, I have five children, I don't drink caffeine, but I did feel few weeks of sadness, throughout my life even breakdown depression anxiety suicidal thoughts but at 51 I am completely healed, hold on don't give up, there's light end of the tunnel. 😢😢😊😊
We appreciate your feedback Mari! It's truly inspiring to hear that women can feel great again after going through menopause. It's crucial to share stories of hope and success with those who may be struggling through this journey at the moment.
I was the same but when I reach 53 it hit me hard, of course it didn’t helped that my husband and I moved to another state and we left everyone we knew. I went on HRT and it was the best decision I made.
You're one of the lucky ones whose menopause didn't affect her. Many of us have symptoms that crippled us. We're not crazy nor drama queens. You're not doing so but many women whose menopause didn't affect them as much tend to make comments like if it was not that bad for everyone, to just get over it. They don't know how good they got it and lucky they are.
I feel your story, very similar here. Body and mind suddenly out of control. Accidentally learned the mind issues were hormone related - so thankful for HRT as it has been helping. But I spiraled so long the anxiety and depression are a work in progress. Was at the top of my profession and almost quit, thankfully they offered me a leave instead. I’m hoping I can get myself back to good and return …myself again (as much as possible). We have seen many great women ahead of us so I’m keeping the hope alive and seeking all the help and trying all the strategies I can to find things that may work for me. Thanks for sharing. We’ve got this.
I hope Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) continues to improve your well-being, helping you return to your normal self. It is so tough when you have no motivation at work, especially when you are at the top of your profession and have so much to contribute with your experience and knowledge. We appreciate your valuable input! Our videos aim to be relatable and help women feel less alone in their struggles with midlife health. Thank you!
HRT IS SO GOOD I am on estrogen patch can’t tolerate pills plus hysterectomy as progesterone intolerant plus AndroFeme on leg small amount Alcohol and caffeine had to go I’m on decaf even that’s no good need to eat clean in menopause years exercise not easy at all so much love to all post 50 you can do it keep going go to bed early too
Thank you for sharing your story. I thought i was going crazy. Doctors are absolutely NO help. Its ridiculous, im dealing with joint pain and swollen feet. This prevents me from exercising the way i want to because of the swelling and pain. I look forward to this being over sooner than later. I hope every woman has a pain-free perimenopause/menopause experience. ❤😊
Thank you, Tracy, for sharing your personal experiences with perimenopause and menopause. Each woman's symptoms vary greatly, making it challenging for doctors to diagnose and treat. I hope you find a healthcare provider who can offer you some relief from your symptoms. Take care and all the best to you!
Me too Tracey mental health an brain fog has been really deliberately for me . Itchy skin mood swings , fatigue an exhaustion, weight gain eye sight , ear ringing migraines, hair loss , and incontinence is really embarrassing for me . I have had so many symptoms. Every time am ill now I just blame the menopause. I have attempted suicide many times been put in a mental hospital many times . Menopause is hell for some of us an others just sail through it x
@paulawilkinson6341 Agreed Paula, it is embarrassing and demoralizing. As I read your response, I was reminded of the other stuff. What I mentioned has been the most bothersome. Unfortunately, I have experienced itching (Bio oil helps) as well as the bladder situation. I'm hoping this stops soon it has been a lot. I truly hope things get better for you ❤️😊🙏🏽
Had it not been for my best friend who noticed my manic change in behavior, it would have taken much longer to begin the process of addressing perimenopause. I took a demotion just to lower the stress. Had I not read that outer body experiences where possible under perimenopause, I might have been really scared. So knowledge is the key. The more you know about what can happen the less you feel overwhelmed by it all. I came to understand that the new me would have to be enough for me and for others. May I recommend a book called: So This is Perimenopause. 20 years ago, it helped me understand and accept what was happening. Better than The Silent Passage. I'm sure there are even better books out there now.
Perimenopause symptoms can come as a shock to many women, leaving them feeling confused and unsure. It's not uncommon to feel like a different person entirely. I appreciate your empowering statement "the new me would have to be enough for me and for others" Thank you for recommending the book and sharing your feedback - you're not only helping us, but also other women navigating this stage of life.
"I came to understand that the new me would have to be enough for me and for others." Thank you SO much for this. I needed to read this today. It helps. Thank you.
Thank you for being so open about this and sharing. Turn 53 in a few days and I am on the edge of my sanity. Just had my first appointment to see about HRT, if it’s a viable option for me. If not, I’ve no idea what to do. Sadly, my understanding is that menopause doesn’t necessarily end, and we don’t go back to being “ourselves” because our bodies essentially don’t let us. I hope you’ve found relief. I hope all of you do. Please understand that none of us are crazy. It’s hard to believe most days, I know. You deserve to feel better. We all do.
Thank you for sharing this story, it helps so much to know I’m not alone. Anxiety is terrible some days and the feeling of hopelessness. Putting a brave face on professionally when really wanting to just drive away and not come back. Really not enjoying any of this time as a woman with so many relying on me, when I just feel numb.
❤ Thank you for sharing so openly. I'm a pissed off 43 year old at the medical system (U.S) too that this is so dismissed. I have actual labwork to validate my symptoms after being dismissed for being too young, and even still I'm having trouble getting the right mix of therapies. If it wasn't for telehealth specialists from another state, I don't think I'd be able to start trying to put the puzzle together.
Many women your age are struggling to get a proper diagnosis for perimenopause. It can be so frustrating to be dismissed by doctors. ‘Puzzle’ is a great way to describe the physical and mental challenges that women are faced with. Self education is really the best option. Thanks for your insightful comment!💕
I’m going through so many of the same issues the ceo is speaking of! I’m so depressed and this anxiety the pain and all!! I need my life back I want my life back
I could see the desperation in your face when you tried not to cry and I cried with you. everything you said you said so perfectly. I've been trying to find those exact words to describe where I am at with my thoughts and my mental breakdown. I myself have started a youtube channel documenting my menopause journey (just started this month) and if it helps to make woman who are going through menopause know that they are not alone then my channel will be a success no matter how many subs or watch hours. thank you for being vulnerable and open i know how hard it is but again thank you from the bottom of my heart x
Many women experience a variety of mental and physical symptoms, and it's important to remember that you are not alone in this. Each person's symptoms are unique and can vary greatly.
I hate to see her hurt so bad 😢 but it’s also comforting to know that i am not alone. This is so tough. I am at the end of peri… going into menopause…will be 50 in a couple of weeks & I still feel so lost.
I can relate to her story. I used to be Miss ambitious and multitasker and able to do all and more. Now at 53 I am like I dont want to do alot and I if I do I do it really slow now. I have no energy and stamina anymore and I have major anxiety and don't handle stress well either I feel overwhelmed most of the time and my sense of smell of everything is extremely annoying when before this BS I loved the face that my nose was not this sensitive. I lost my appetite and lost weight and I have the body when I was a teenager. Together we woman can change the world and stigma. Thank you for being yourself in this video. WE GOT THIS!!!
Thank you for sharing. Im at the beginning of my perimenopause and just went through an episode of crying for hours and not sleeping, and being scared that my body and my mind are failing me. Now i'm just looking for solutions, for ways of staving off these symptoms. I think being aware first of wall that we entered this stage of perimenopause is extremely important bc not knowing what is happening and why is happening all of a sudden is very scary. Second step is taking it serious and make the necessary lifestyle changes like in my case lose weight and quit or decrease a lot the sugar intake, and continue with my work out routine, improve my work out routine, and introduce myself to yoga and meditation and habits that improve my sleep and calm me down. It seems a lot, but every day is a step forward. I hope next month to be better preppared for it and face it better. Thanks again for sharing your story. Stay strong.
You're absolutely right! Awareness is key when it comes to perimenopause. Many women are caught off guard by the sudden onset of symptoms and may feel like they're the only ones experiencing them. However, by adopting a healthy lifestyle, you can certainly minimize the severity of these symptoms. In some cases, the only source of relief may be Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which has been found to improve the quality of life for many women. The key is to educate yourself and work closely with a doctor who can support you in feeling better sooner. Thank you for watching and commenting! We sincerely wish you all the very best on your midlife health journey!❤
I'm glad you found Jennifer's story helpful. I'm sorry that you're also struggling with similar symptoms. I hope you're getting the medical support you need. BIG HUG!
Thank you for having the courage to share with us I know exactly how it feels bc I am also going through it for the past almost 3 years. Don’t remember when the last time I smiled always feeling sad depressing anxiety can cry many times a day. The only person I can talk to daily is my God, I am praying God to heal and bless me strength and courage to continue To overcome this illness, my husband is very understanding and supporting and that helps a lot. I also pray for all the women who are going through this horrible times to fine peace love and courage to stay strong and overcome this tough time.
We appreciate your feedback, and we're so happy to hear that your husband is supportive and understanding. We know that many women struggle during this challenging time, but taking care of your health and addressing symptoms is crucial for being proactive. Don't hesitate to see a doctor and take the steps necessary to feel healthy and strong again.
Thank you for sharing.. I my self is searching why am like this now ..the problem also is during this kind of period for us woman we don’t have a support from our husband and family because for them it’s our problem that we are like this
It's crucial to educate yourself about perimenopause and menopause. The more knowledge you have, the better prepared you'll be to have informed discussions with your doctor without being dismissed. You can find plenty of evidence-based information on www.herstasis.com. Additionally, joining menopause-related Facebook groups can provide you with valuable information and support from women who are going through similar experiences. I'm sorry to hear that your family doesn't understand and sympathize with your struggles.❤
Thank you so much Jennifer for this one of my first perimenopause symptoms was heavy periods and rages not mood swings. It is very painful with joint pain and headaches and yes alot of tears when trying to explain to my doctor I don't feel right. I did start swimming and it helped my mental health hugs to all of us going through this.
Thank you for sharing your many symptoms. 💗Have you found ways to effectively manage your symptoms? We're eager to hear all about it! By sharing your tips and insights, we can all learn and benefit from each other's experiences.
I have been going to the doctor and had my blood test last week as I am nearly 2 weeks late with my period so hopefully they find something. I take supplements regularly vitamin D turmeric tablets magnesium ok which has all the essential b vitamins for womens and evening primrose oil with starflower oil and perfectil for my hair loss. I also try and limit my stress levels don't do everything all the time because I do feel unwell and it can cause burnout.
I'm 42 and this is exactly how I've been feeling and wondering why I'm in this constant see-saw of emotions. Thank you so much for sharing your story here. I know its tough to share your struggle and vulnerability, but you doing this has made me realize I'm not alone in this journey.... That does provide a measure of comfort to me! Thank you once again! ❤❤ I wish and pray the best for you. Take care.
I’m post menopausal 60 years old and my symptoms restarted about a year ago. I am writing that awful emotional roller coaster again of depression and anxiety. I don’t know why this came back but I know that it can and does for many women. God bless you all.
I'm so sorry you are going through all of this! It truly helps not feeling so alone. Its so hard to feel like no one understands and you're just silently struggling inside. Praying we can ALl feel that peace we do long for REALLY REALLY SOON ❤
I feel like your speaking about me… I’m 47… the last few years have been bad. But this last February it became brutal, and almost unbearable. Crippling anxiety and depression keep me in bed for days at a time. I’m a shell of who I used to be. I too am pissed the healthcare system, it’s absolute bullshit that this isn’t looked into more.
We're so sorry to hear that you're facing some major struggles. There are good doctors out there; you just have to find them. We wish you all the best and hope you receive the support you need to feel normal again. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.💕
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you feel better now. As for me, im 52 going 53 end of the year and i feel like ive been falling apart too this year. Havent had a perimonthr 7 months now.
Thank you Jeana for your interesting comments on menopause! We also want to express our appreciation for subscribing. Thank you for your support and please continue watching!
I'm 72 and still having breast pain, pain, migraine and anxiety. Got worse after my hysterectomy 3 Years ago... Does it ever stop My Dr said it can last for decades.!.. My Mum was the same 😢x
Dr. Lisa Mosconi has some phenomenal research on women’s brains changing in menopause. We were designed to go through a “shift” during menopause and our brains undergo a type of metamorphosis. Her research is fascinating.
Hi, everyone. I'm 49 and had a partial hysterectomy at 43 due to fibroids. So i have NO clue where in the hell I am in this "journey ". I've had my estrogen checked with one bloodtest and everything was normal (at the time) but as we know thats one one moment in time. Ive had muscle twitching back and joint pain, the anxiety is HORRIBLE, night sweats a few times a month, dry mouth, a memory that is a fog, heart palpations and cry almost daily because I feel like im going crazy and have either MS, Cancer or whatever Dr. Google diagnosed me with 😱 Does anyone else have this? 🥴🥺
Typically, the symptoms you're describing are associated with perimenopause or menopause. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in managing these symptoms. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can be an effective method to regain your sense of self. For comprehensive and accurate information on menopause symptoms and their management, you can visit: www.herstasis.com/ Thank you for sharing your situation. ❤
Yes I am going through the same thing I am 55 it just started been in the hospital emergency room four times in the last month for heart palpitations they did test and can find nothing wrong had to wear heart monitor for 2 weeks it came back negative you are not alone.
@@brendafountain2856 It seems like you're receiving good medical care. It's interesting that they haven't found anything. Perimenopause or menopause can often bring about mysterious symptoms.
We're thrilled that Jennifer's story has struck a chord with you, making you feel less alone in your menopause journey. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and leave a comment. Your support means a lot to us!💕
So I won't be 46 this September my whole 30s I experienced PMDD in 2020 I started taking calcium magnesium vitamin e and vitamin B6 everyday and oh my goodness my pmdd stopped I was amazed and wanted to shout it from the rooftops. June 2023 what is my last normal period I am perimenopausal I have been tracking my periods I typically get one and then don't get one for 2 months I had a schedule appointment with a gynecologist but the day before I started my period. I have felt so depressed. I have dealt with anxiety my whole life however it has gotten so much worse The Hot flashes are just awful. Thank you for this video and your channel. Last week was so bad the depression the isolation the loneliness I literally didn't think I was going to snap out of it it's so scary. Sending healing vibes to all of you beautiful women.
We are so sorry to hear about your perimenopause issues, it sounds like they have hit you so hard. Sometimes it seems like you are all alone in the world with these symptoms. Sending healing vibes right back to you. Hugs from Herstasis.
For what it’s worth acupuncture helped me a lot. It didn’t work immediately and might not be a permanent fix, but so worth it for the higher quality of life..
Thank you for your feedback! We're really glad that the story has had such a profound impact. We're truly sorry to hear that you're going through this stage in your life alone. Please take care! Lots of ❤
Sharing is caring; more importantly, Jennifer has committed to acting for women who will or are going through menopausal (per-mid-post) life challenges! A platform that identifies the issue screens the information, grants easy access and allows sharing, recording, tracking, and interaction. As one of the subscribers, I see the value of the platform! Worthy of trying it!
Thanks for subscribing Sharon! We will be posting new menopause stories on a regular basis that will be helpful to women who are experiencing perimenopause or menopause symptoms.
Jeniffer is truly inspiring - she's taking on the brave and huge task of educating others about menopause. It takes a special person to bring more awareness to such an important subject.
I am right there with you. Thank you for sharing your story. You are not alone. I cannot tell you how many doctors I've seen that have given me no answers and no help. Praying that God continues to see you through this.
Thanks for your comment Vanessa! You're absolutely right - many health practitioners aren't well-versed in perimenopause and menopause symptoms. It can be frustrating when they can't offer the guidance and solutions we need. I hope you've been able to find someone who really knows their stuff and has been helpful to you. Thanks for supporting our channel - we appreciate you watching our videos and leaving a comment!
Your clips are giving me reassurance that a strong woman like you cries because of menopause anxiety too. Thank you for your tears and your vulnerability.
Thanks for sharing. I too am going through this. I just started a new job that I am hoping is less stressful. It has been very difficult going through the mental and physical changes and working in very stressful toxic work environments. Many times I felt like I was losing it. I'm thankful to still be here. I am back on antidepressants after being off for 3 years. I'm praying to control the weight gain. I feel like every year I get a new symptom to deal with. I'm just trying to stay strong until I can retire.
Thank you so much for telling your story, a lot of what you say resonates with me. My perimenopause was manageable but in post meno I began to suffer many physical and emotional symptoms. The mood changes, anxiety and depression have been relentless. I also use HRT and an SSRI but I am still struggling with what 'The Change' has done to me! Wishing you well and sending hugs from the UK.
We're thrilled to see that our videos are making a connection with our audience even as far as the UK! Thank you Helen for sharing your personal experience. Menopause is a transformative journey that greatly affects our life. We appreciate your support by watching and leaving a comment. 💕All the best to you!
I love you for being so brave and sharing your story ❤ I got hit with all of this right before my 40th birthday. The anxiety is debilitating at times I get scared I’m going to go crazy 😢 I have hashimotos on top of it so my hormones are all out of control. I hope and pray you’re feeling better.
Jennifer here - looking back I think all my symptoms started at around the same time as you, 40th birthday. Then steadily got worse over the span of 12 years. I am 55 now and feeling MUCH BETTER thanks to HRT plus an SSRI for depression plus therapy every 3 weeks without fail. Sadly few women can afford or access this type of healthcare - thank you Canada - and they have to do without. It torments me to think about. We have a huge free website that might help with at least some self-education at www.herstasis.com. - Hugs to you. x
We appreciate your comment! Many women find perimenopause and menopause symptoms to be quite puzzling and overwhelming. It's great to hear that you're gaining a better understanding of your changing body through these shared experiences. Knowing that our videos are helping you makes all of our efforts worthwhile. Thank you!❤️🌸❤️
Sending hugs....your story and the pain you're experiencing is heartbreaking 💔 Are you taking HRT? It's all about hormones, HRT has given me MYSELF back....wishing you all the best, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, hang in there and keep trying ....
Thank you! Yes to the HRT (estrogen patch and progesterone pill because I am still having a period) as well as an SSRI (Ciprolex) seem to be really helping.
Thank you for being so candid & open. I’m diabetic and have other medical conditions & I hate being perimenopausal’ the hot flash with anxiety is the worse.
Wow! This is me at 50! The healthcare system will make you feel like you really are not experiencing these things! That's the part that is depressing for me and add all the other life issues to that and you do have a perfect storm of mental health decline. Thanks for sharing your story!
For some reasons I'm on my son's account and im notsure how to change it, but I really wanted to say this: THANK YOU!! Thank you for making me feel like I'm not alone! I felt every words you said! I'm 42, 4 kids and i cry every day! I feel like I'm just ruining their lives and they'd be better off without me 😔 Medical system 🤣 They're a joke! Mentionned to my Dr that I felt I was in perimenopause and she completely brushed me off, saying I was way too young for that 😞 I'm so tired ... Bless you for you're courage in sharing!! I hope you're doing good 🩷
I feel like you're telling my story. It's been 4 years now of punishment. All those different things hitting me from all direction and they just sticking there like a team doing everything to destroy me. Having Covid 2 times, dengue took everything I was dealing with to a next level..what bothers me most is the generalized body aches and pain. My knees and hips are the worse ..Have anyone experience eyefloaters?. This health issue because of our hormone changes is something doctors put a blind eyes and death ear to. The refuse to understand that such is a life threatening issue..I wish all those being pressed down by this mental/ physical monster to be strong ❤
Oh dear, you are really up against it. We see you and we believe you. Yes, self-advocacy is the only way, and to do that you have to self-educate and not get sucked in by the pseudo-cures. You are doing the best you can. - Hugs from Herstasis.
Wow…. With tears in my eyes I want to thank you, Jennifer, for being the voice I could not find within me…. I’m 46. Perimenopause is hitting me hard with everything you have described here BUT the suicidal thoughts. Those I had before, many times during my regular cycle. After many years of silently wondering what was so wrong with me, I discovered that what I was experiencing had a name: PMDD: Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder… Learning I wasn’t just crazy and knowing it was something more transitory than fatal helped me get over the suicidal thoughts. But now while experiencing perimenopause everything is exponentially worse! I don’t have suicidal thoughts, but so many other negative thoughts instead! I’m very short fuse, get easily angry all the time, and… I just can’t understand or even stand myself. But to hear you put into words this secret hell I’m living makes me feel more human and maybe even more normal than I thought…. Still a long way to go in terms of helping myself doing the my own research bc as you very well said, doctors seem too clueless and careless to shed any light in all these! So again, just… TYSM for being so brave and vulnerable in sharing this, and by doing so, throwing a lifesaver that I’m sure has helped many of us stay afloat. 🥺🙏🏻
Jennifer here - thanks so much for watching and we are really glad we can help women feel seen during this difficult time in their lives. I am now 54 and probably had my last period in June, although it was a tiny bit of spotting not a regular period. I am hopefully "in Menopause" now but I won't know for another 10 months. Since I filmed this video my life has changed considerably and I have also come through this terrible period into something much nicer. I am treating my mental health symptoms effectively with an SSRI plus the standard of care for perimenopause symptoms: an estrogen patch and a progesterone pill. I feel balanced now and hopeful. We have some materials on our website that might be helpful: www.herstasis.com/menopause-depression/ www.herstasis.com/menopause-anxiety/ PMDD is an entirely different animal from what I experienced, however, and I am sad to hear you have this. There are likely hormonal treatments that can help you if you have access to a healthcare provider. - Hugs from Herstasis x
@@herstasishealth TYSM for your thorough and thoughtful reply. I can see I have a long journey ahead of me… I am glad to hear your are doing much better, not only because of your own painful journey but also because it gives me hope. Also TY for the resources! 🙏🏻❤️🩹 🫂
Is so good to see that you are not alone, that you are not crazy, that what happed it's kind of 'normal' (that is a reaction of your body). Thank you for beeing onest and for the fact that you share us your feeling!!
I'm going through anxiety hell at 49. I am turning down a major promotion because I feel suicidal and terrified all the time. I can't bear this anymore. I used to be so competent and brave. My mind is not my own. God help me - will this ever end? I work out daily and eat healthy. Just don't understand. Thanks for posting this so I dont feel alone ❤
Thank you so much I have been feeling everything you have spoken about it's such a hard time I am now on hrt patches hoping they will help early days talking is so important x
Hi Lisa, congratulations on getting on HRT patches! I sincerely hope they make you feel better soon. Thanks for supporting our videos and giving us valuable feedback!
Good luck to all of us! my journey started at 38 I saw a lot of gynecologist and all said Im too young for perimenopause, now I am 44 and the joint pain is just there it does go way after menses but not this month I just been crying because the blues or anxiety didn't go away either.
Almost like me. I don't have much physical pains or I can say they are tolerable. I get migrains before my period. Thy psychological Chaos is the one that burdens me a lot. I consider myself active but not as before and I get easily overwhelmed now. I pray that we all get back to our old lives.
I really sympathize with you. I feel like I'm not controll of my body and emotions. Aches and pains keep me from exercising regularly which at one time I loved. Now I cry at the drop of dime. I told my doctor during my check up with NO solution at all. So now I research to find ways to cope. I tell myself daily this too shall pass.
To have a productive conversation with your doctor, it's important to get educated on all the perimenopause and menopause symptoms. Free evidence-based information can be found at www.herstasis.com/. Thanks for tuning in and leaving your comment!
Jennifer here - Oh dear sweetie, you are really up against it aren't you? We are here and we have survived to tell the tale. Suicidal thoughts are super important to discuss with someone, anyone around you. I still get them but they are more like weird impulses that are merely thoughts now rather than days-long crying. I hope you have a healthcare provider. I managed to finally find an SSRI (Ciprolex) that really helps with my depression spirals that also come with fatigue, plus an Estradiol patch and micronized progesterone pill which helps with lots of other symptoms including sleep. - Hugs from all of us, we see you. xo
I cried so hard when I saw your video. I feel the same way but the medical field says you should be through hot flashes and night sweats. I'm not and I'm 60 this year and there are a lot more symptoms than just 2 but I get brushed off about it. Thank God for my family and videos like yours. I just want to feel stable again. And I have a woman Doctor to boot. She should be ashamed of herself.
I can relate to everything you have said in this video. It makes you feel very alone and crazy and so unstable. I saw my gynecologist a year ago and she was dismissive about my symptoms. I’m grateful I have an understanding partner. I’m just at the end of my rope.
I am going through the same things and am not good at coping often. Add that I have PTSD after leaving a highly abusive marriage. My mind gets so weird with extreme forgetfulness. My body gets shaky, and i can hardly hold a conversation without wanting to cry. Insomnia makes me zombielike. Its sad when you think about how ending your life would be better.😢
It's important not to lose hope! It's crucial to keep exploring ways to improve your well-being. One helpful step is to have a caring doctor who can discuss options to manage your symptoms. Have you thought about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)? Many women have found it beneficial in regaining a sense of normalcy. Thanks for watching and commenting! ❤
I'm sorry to hear that the HRT is not working as well as expected. Maybe it would be beneficial to have it adjusted and for the doctor to try different dosages. It can take time to find the perfect dosage and for the body to adjust.❤
@@herstasishealth I was thinking it was the dose. It gives me restless leg syndrome when I take it. Trade in one cause of sleepless nights for the other. I’ll figure it out but your story is so helpful on so many levels . Thank you again
There are many different forms of HRT around (quite a complicated topic and unfortunately some doctors are not well-informed enough or even try to make a profit by selling more expensive "individualized" combi pills that mostly don't get the same effect as modern (cheaper) HRT. See the websites & podcasts by the beautiful Dr. LOUISE NEWSON & her excellent RUclips channel! She is a UK-based doctor (who suffered from peri-menopausal symptoms herself) whose goal is to help as many women as possible get access to free online info and the most modern and cheap, insurance-covered HRT treatment. You will get your life back and help hundreds of women if you spread the word... Best wishes from Germany💁♀️❤
I had to figure out how to relieve my perimenopause myself. At 50 it hit fast and furious and I had over 65 symptoms. After 17 specialists I am on Thyroid meds, HRT patch, SSRNI, and several vitamins. Cleveland Clinic really helped me, and I am lucky to be able to live close enough to travel to all of my doctors there. I still have slight depression and a tendency to just want to be alone, but I am able to manage it (I got a dog and have 3 wonderful children and husband) and hope these feelings will subside. I was able to keep my full time job and work a second part time job and starting a business when just 7 years ago I thought I would have to give it all up and lay on the couch all day. Most people think you are crazy and wish there was a support group or system for women who suffer silently during the transition. It's a battle I fight every day and had to mourn the loss of my old self. I wish everyone the best and don't give up on yourself.
Thank you for sharing your intense menopause story. It's amazing what you've been able to accomplish workwise, even with all the symptoms. Yes, if you have no clue about perimenopause and menopause, you might think you're going crazy and that it's happening only to you. Wishing you all the best on your continued journey!❤️
10 years ago when I was 37 I got a severe burn-out. Stress, Anxiety, panic attacks, crying a lot and so on. I got help from psychologists, psychiatrists, ssri, oxazepam, acupuncture, reiki and my laving family. Now, 10 years later, I still suffer all the above… Someone mentioned hormones so I went to See a gynae. 6 weeks ago, I started HRT and the first 4 weeks were like heaven. I used to feel two weeks good and then over a week miserable and now the good feeling lastedfor 4 weeks. I was so happy. Unfortunately, misery hit back hard. For over two weeks I am feeling terrible again. Had an increase in dose (estrogen) after the fall back in week 4 and hope that Will do the trick. Any experiences with set backs, increases etc?
Sounds like you are really struggling, thank you for reaching out and listening to other women's stories, including my own (it's Jennifer here replying today). I have been struggling for 15 years as well and have found that HRT and an SSRI, along with lots of therapy, has helped level me for the most part. But it's really up and down until your system gets used to the medication and you are able to use the therapy tools you learn. You may even need to try a different SSRI/SERM but your primary care provider would be the one to discuss that with. - Hugs from Herstasis x
I am 48 this year. My symptoms pretty much started when I hit early 40s. Everyone brushed it off saying it's not possible; too early. You will only feel the impact when you hit 50 or 55... anyway my face broke out super bad with rosacea. I didn't know what happened but it got worst during covid. I went to doctors, specialists and dermatologists and tried so many types of medication. And I was kinda bloated with water retention. And the biggest downfall was I took some contraceptive Diane 35 supposedly to help my acne. Unfortunately everything went south. Face got worse plus I had very bad side effects like mood swings, my sleep badly affected, my muscle cramps even when i was lying down doing nothing. Its crazy... i felt lost. I think the added contraceptive got my hormones even more messed up. I had to stop after being on it 5 months. All these symptoms were stripping me of any hope, and my esteem was sooo low. I didn't go to work or out much. Fast forward. I found out I am really suffering from premenopause. Started taking a number of supplements that I believe help me tremendously. I took • life extension inositol and • started shaklee menopause complex • Suntory Sesamin Ex. I felt so much better and finally able to sleep. My energy slowly return. I was lucky to get these sorted out in time cz in early 2023 my mom stayed with me throughout her cancer stage 3 treatments and my teenage daughter was diagnosed with anxiety disorder and subsequently depression. It was so overwhelming and I am sure if I am still suffering badly from my premenopause symptoms. I would probably drown. I am not totally out of the woods yet cz I do get the flush and moody moments. But I keep reminding myself to count any small lil blessings that comes along. I sometimes wonder how the women of the past handle all these without knowing much about premenopause. They are really amazing.
I wish I still had my periods or that at least I had them until a little later. You're right. The great majority of us enter menopause in total ignorance. I started to have symptoms of perimenopause in my mid forties and my cycles stopped at 50. In my peri-menopausal stage i started to have joint pain (shoulders and feet), floaters, I started to gain weight. And I started to have vivid and terrifying nightmares. That's what i remember. After 50 is when the real fun started. The hot flashes were brutal, the insomnia was relentless, the constant need tongo to the bathroom at night. I had a frozen shoulder that finally needed surgery, right now and even before (this pain comes and goes) is foot pain. There was a time when my foot pain was so bad that i couldn't take walks at all. Then i started HRT and so many things started to get better. It's not perfect and I've been having the need to periodically increase my estrogen dose. I had a dexa scan and theu found out I have osteopenia so I need to check my esteogen levels to have them high enough not just to get rid of symptoms but to protect my bones, my heart and my brain.
HRT & prozac has saved my life Total manic breakdown along with physical symptoms. No docs would believe me I had to go private to get the HRT. HRT is the answer!
Jennifer here - yes the breakdowns and the physical symptoms were just too much to bear at times. I did end up with a private doctor (much to the disgust of the Canadian medical system which is fighting tooth and nail to stop, but yet they give us no alternative) and got onto Estradiol patches 100 mcg, micronized progesterone pills, and Ciprolex SSRI. Note there is no "bioidentical" mention here, or "compounding". Just straight up Rx from the pharmacy. Over time I have reduced the patch strength to 50 mcg and upped the SSRI daily dosage with my doctors agreement. - Hugs from me and Herstasis xo
I have never ever wanted to work in healthcare. Never wanted to be a doctor or nurse, but now, if I could start all over again I would have become a doctor for one reason only: to help women going through perimenopause and menopause. I am going through hell. I don't want this.
Jennifer here - I hear you! I do feel like I missed my calling sometimes. Ironically, instead we have to steer Far Away from any type of medical advice, make sure the conversation is kind of contained to stories, and yet keep the community running as a little non-profit from the "Left Coast", Vancouver, without selling women out with quack science "advice", unproven / unsafe products, or your super squee private data out from under you. When we were a tech startup, investors told me "there's no money in women's health" and, unfortunately, they may be right - IF you are doing it with integrity, transparency and honesty for women, and playing within the regulatory rules that include accuracy, reproducibility, efficacy and safety. At Herstasis Health Foundation, we are not Health Care Providers, but that doesn't mean we can't also publicly commit to "First, Do No Harm". That’s the most amazing interview. Thank you so much for your honesty. I finally got a blood test yesterday and have anemia and that explains the fatigue etc. I thought I was getting arthritis in my knees too, so that could be connected. I’m lying in bed about to go to work and it’s so amazing to hear that this is normal, it effects all areas of life (I just want to leave my job and sleep all day…performance review tomorrow yikes). It may explain also why I can’t stand the sight of my colleagues…or maybe that’s normal too haha. Hard to disentangle what is happening between health issues and “real life”. Do I hate my job and my house or do I just need more iron??? What a crazy time this is at 50 years old. 2 weeks ago I got Covid and since then have had a period so heavy I’ve been wearing incontinence pads. Feeling down and can’t get stuff done at work. Yelling at the family and feeling like a psycho…
Yes, changes in your hormone levels can cause various perimenopause and menopause symptoms, both physical and mental, that many women are not prepared for. It seems like you're facing a lot of challenges related to this, and I'm happy to hear that our story has helped you realize that you're not alone. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave your comment!
Please do two things. First become familiar with all the symptoms of perimenopause and list all that you have. Second get a referral for a menopause specialist and see them. Iron isn’t doing to fix all this but HRT can and does very quickly solve the hundreds of issues that comes from menopause. It can prevent inflammatory issues like joint pain and arthritis, bone loss, heart disease, dementia, cancer and elevate mood increase confidence and help you feel like yourself again. It’s now advised for almost all women since it’s use has been completely reversed. You don’t have to suffer or have your life fall apart any more. Be clear about what is happening so you can communicate effectively to a specialist. No one will take you seriously if you aren’t sure of yourself and organized but sadly untreated hormone deficiency makes many women unsure and disorganized.
@@r8chlletters This is excellent information! ❤ It's crucial for women to receive the necessary medical support for their well-being. I am having mood swings, insomnia and fatigue as well as hot flashes and sweating sometimes. I had to dig deep at work yesterday as I felt like telling everyone chatting to shut up!
@@lonaisaacs-09z We completely understand the challenges of working while feeling exhausted and not at your best. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences.
Thank you for sharing your story, I'm going through all that, plus I don't have a Thyroid anymore and sometimes I feel I'm going crazy, but I as yourself look forward to the end of all these symptoms. I'm so sorry for all women going through this, but let's just think that this is temporary and with God's help we will be ok.
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with feelings of going crazy. Dealing with perimenopause or menopause without a thyroid adds an extra layer of complexity. I hope you start feeling better soon. Thank you for watching and sharing your feedback.
Yes, there are so many symptoms, and each woman experiences them differently. You can discover a wealth of evidence-based information at: www.herstasis.com You’ll have a much healthier journey if you’re well informed on the symptoms and treatment options. 💕
When you look at the HRT meds, they tell you they're not meant to treat joint pain, prevent heart disease, etc. Your obgyn is trained only to treat the symptoms of menopause, most likely hot flashes, vaginal atrophy etc. So when you see an obgyn, tell them those symptoms and they will give you HRT, preferably the bioidentical micronized estradiol and micronized progesterone capsule. Then they start you off with the lowest dosage, but you can always increase it if symptoms persists.
Thank you for your view on HRT. Hormone replacement therapy works differently for every woman. Because of the vast variety of menopause symptoms, there really isn’t one solution that fits everyone. We appreciate your comment!❤️
Feel really drawn to this ladies authenticity. I just don’t feel the joy in the same way I used to and everything feels super hard work. I work full time and don’t have anywhere near the energy I used to. I do take HRT which helps with things a lot but hasn’t resolved the lack of motivation and the spark of enthusiasm. I also have undiagnosed ADHD and the symptoms have been made much worse
Thanks for watching and commenting. We are all struggling here, each with their own symptoms. If we can find people to identify with, maybe we can feel less alone during this crazy time. One of our colleagues was recently diagnosed with ADHD well past menopause, and this has changed her whole perspective on life. Look for more content from us on this topic soon. - Hugs from Herstasis. x
HRT will get you out of the black hole but then the other pillars of health will get you back on track, coming back into the light again needs HRT if you are this bad.
Hello, I've had to do my own research on perimenopause (I didn't know there was such a thing), menopause and post menopause, and I've been taking tumeric, along with other vitamins, every day, and my joint pain has thankfully gone away. I hope everything has gotten better for you, hugs. My doctor was not helpful at all too, so frustrating.
Sorry you are feeling so bad.I can totally see you.Myself I had to go to the Clinic for 5 Months because my Anxiety got really bad,I could not sleep anymore,I had the worsed Depressions with really bad thoughts of ending my Life. I was crying day and night . All this happened after I was already 3 Years Postmenopausal and even know it is a little better now I am still suffering of theses Symptoms. I am almost 5 Years Postmenopausal

Yes low level HRT was really helpful, as was an SSRI (Ciprolex). Really helped to stop the depression spiral and joint pain.
White men running the system, women are objects.
Same same same here. 😢I don’t know where to go, where to go, what to do, hrt isn’t cutting it in serval areas . I feel hopeless and helpless. 😢😢😢

How are you ladies now? I’m almost 43 and actually scared of how I feel mentally 😢
And no one seems to understand the severity of what we as women go through during this time 😢
Only God knows how many time i have cried because of anxiety!

Thank you soo much for sharing Jennifers story. I'm going through this now...its the single biggest challenge of my life...
It can be incredibly difficult when, just as you think life is about to get easier with age and experience. Along comes menopause and makes us feel completely out of control. I hope you feel better soon.
Hang in there and if you need an ear, I am here.
Me too!
Same! I never knew how hard it would be or that it would make me mentally unwell
When did you experience those symptoms? How did you heal? Thanks😊

HRT IS SO GOOD I am on estrogen patch can’t tolerate pills plus hysterectomy as progesterone intolerant plus AndroFeme on leg small amount
Alcohol and caffeine had to go
I’m on decaf even that’s no good need to eat clean in menopause years exercise not easy at all so much love to all post 50 you can do it keep going go to bed early too
Thank you for sharing your story. I thought i was going crazy. Doctors are absolutely NO help. Its ridiculous, im dealing with joint pain and swollen feet.

I appreciate your empowering statement "the new me would have to be enough for me and for others"
Thank you for recommending the book and sharing your feedback - you're not only helping us, but also other women navigating this stage of life.
"I came to understand that the new me would have to be enough for me and for others."
Thank you SO much for this.
We all do.
Sitting here finally feeling understood, crying my eyes out. Every single thing you said touched my heart.
Ditto 😢it’s been challenging for me as well..same scenario.. I wish everyone the best..I would love more healthy option than hrt..that has risks
Thank you for your honesty. You are clearly a good person who is making a difference.
We greatly appreciate your feedback Julie! It encourages us to keep going! Please stay tuned and continue to support this project. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing my story! I feel so alone at times. Blessings.
Thank you for sharing your story. I am 50 and this is also my story... It's been a trial and a half
I hope the story makes you feel less alone knowing that many women struggle during this transformative time in their life. ❤️

Thank you so much Jennifer for this one of my first perimenopause symptoms was heavy periods and rages not mood swings. It is very painful with joint pain and headaches and yes alot of tears when trying to explain to my doctor I don't feel right.

I’m post menopausal 60 years old and my symptoms restarted about a year ago. I am writing that awful emotional roller coaster again of depression and anxiety. I don’t know why this came back but I know that it can and does for many women. God bless you all.

Thank you for being open and sharing about this struggle. It's ok to see that I'm not going crazy and I'm not all alone. Awareness helps.

I'm 72 and still having breast pain, pain, migraine and anxiety. Got worse after my hysterectomy 3 Years ago... Does it ever stop
My Dr said it can last for decades.!.. My Mum was the same 😢x
Omg, me too!
Dr. Lisa Mosconi has some phenomenal research on women’s brains changing in menopause. We were designed to go through a “shift” during menopause and our brains undergo a type of metamorphosis. Her research is fascinating.
I love your honesty. It is so so refreshing on youtube
Google diagnosed me with 😱
Does anyone else have this? 🥴🥺
Typically, the symptoms you're describing are associated with perimenopause or menopause. Hopefully, your doctor can assist in managing these symptoms.

I love you for being so brave and sharing your story ❤ I got hit with all of this right before my 40th birthday. The anxiety is debilitating at times I get scared I’m going to go crazy 😢
I have hashimotos on top of it so my hormones are all out of control.

I can’t do this anymore. The suicidal thoughts and the fatigue.
It's important not to lose hope! It's crucial to keep exploring ways to improve your well-being. One helpful step is to have a caring doctor who can discuss options to manage your symptoms.

I took
• life extension inositol and
• started shaklee menopause complex
• Suntory Sesamin Ex.
Thank you so much for sharing, really interesting!
HRT & prozac has saved my life
Total manic breakdown along with physical symptoms.
Thanks for watching, and check us out at www.herstasis.com.
Proactively educating oneself and advocating for one's health is vital. Women should not have to endure unnecessary suffering. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Your support is truly appreciated!😊
Me too. Thyroidectomy from Graves Disease 2018.
I'm 52,and going through all this.sometimes it really sucks.
I'm just starting my perimenopause I had no idea so many symptoms, who would want to be a woman... life is hard enough. 😢
Yes, there are so many symptoms, and each woman experiences them differently. You can discover a wealth of evidence-based information at: www.herstasis.com
You’ll have a much healthier journey if you’re well informed on the symptoms and treatment options.
- Hugs from Herstasis. x
ugh, can totally relate❤
We appreciate your comment. It's great to know that our videos resonate with you!❤
HRT will get you out of the black hole but then the other pillars of health will get you back on track, coming back into the light again needs HRT if you are this bad.
