  • Hey Everyone, I am ripping apart the GTO shell body to see what all I have to do and need to do, this is gonna take a whole lot of saw saw blades and drill bits, spot weld cutters, and patience.
While I used harbor fright spot weld cutters amazon has a way better deal and I'm gonna order some and try some, same with some 1/8" drill bits to drill out some of the smaller welds or at least pilot holes.
    Spot weld cutter: amzn.to/43GYYN7
Another version that I'd like to try: amzn.to/3OfFaL6
    Drill bits bulk pack: amzn.to/44HxmZC

It’s definitely a lot of work, I just wanna have a fun car, not a restoration, as David Freiburger says just get the junk running, I’m retiring in 5-7 months so have plenty of time to work on it.

I am confused. What was wrong with the tubs and cage?

The cage was cobbled together, cut and the 2 pieces didn’t align. Booger welds. No way safe, the tubs were not done correctly and after seeing the frame I decided to go another direction.

@@ShopDogFabrication Ah ok Are you going to use the stock floor and wheel tubs from other car then?

@@zap_racing24 I am, as much of the floor as I can and the wheel tubs need some repair. Will need new truck pans and the drop offs. Then the fun part, the roof swap.

@@ShopDogFabrication would you have been better using the scrap body and adding quarters LOL

@@zap_racing24 I don’t want to get caught up in vin swapping. The shell body didn’t come with a vin or title. Let’s me test my metal skills, and hackery I meant ingenuity.
