    I would have picked the 6.0 iron block if it were me. The aluminum blocks are so prone to pulling head bolt threads and it is expensive to get the kit to repair them. I had to repair a 6.0 aluminum block last fall and it was a major PITA!

      Just guessing, could be a hub/axle bearing. If awd if there is a ripped axle shaft boot could be a cv joint. Does it do it only turns or going straight? If you lightly apply brakes does it go away? Could be a backing plate running, that happened on our rav where it rusted and part of it was rubbing the rotor. Bent it back.

    My 56 Belair had rubber hoses from the factory that popped into place for inside of front and rear windshield that drained down and dripped outside of the body. You could vacuum hose on the bottom of your hose and run it down into the quarter panel and outside.

    • @ShopDogFabrication
      @ShopDogFabrication Месяц назад

      That’s what I’m thinking about doing. I think I also mentioned it in the video as an option. Have to figure out the vac hose routing when it’s close to being done.

    • @juanlanda2441
      @juanlanda2441 Месяц назад

      Sorry I just realized you're draining the window channel . Most drains are at the lower part of the fenders doors and quarters. . hmm . I would have left a small 1)4" channel (half pipe) to allow the water to drain into the quarters on the outside . . I wouldn't want water draining into the trunk . And I also wouldn't want water being trapped in the window channel . That's what creates the rust in the first place. Thanks for getting the ideas rolling

    • @ShopDogFabrication
      @ShopDogFabrication Месяц назад

      That’s also why I can attach a rubber hose and run it down to the panels and let it drain outside as an option. Kinda like an ac drain.

    From an electrical engineering point of view, I would not recommend this as an 18v battery will damage automotive items. Do not try this on anything that has internal power supplies or regulation. I guess if your battery is 12v it's okay, but who uses 12v power tools?

    • @ShopDogFabrication
      @ShopDogFabrication 2 месяца назад

      Not many choices at a junkyard, the whole key is momentary test to make sure a part will work. Not long term. Although I’ve seen guys run their fuel Pumps on 20v to get more out of them at the drag strip for a hero pass.

  • @ddlem2437

    Looking really good. Ou may want to consider adding drains to the bottom corners of the rear glass. My 67 had the the trunk filler panel and inside bottom edge of both sail panels replaced in 08. Both areas have started to bubble again. Water just lays in there and wicks along the pinch weld and starts the rot again. I still pondering how to best do it. There is alot of discussion on the gto and chevelle forums about rear glass channel rot and drains. Also the thickness of the rear glass sealer has alot to do with how the trim lays down

    Just exactly what I needed! Am replacing the rotors and brake pads on my 2005 RAV4. HOWEVER, while the bolts holding the calipers together came out (17mm), the 14mm bolts (the ones in the boots) are frozen in place. No luck getting them off. I don't know if someone severely over-torqued them used Loctite or what, but I'm reassembling the caliper and installing the new pads after that. One question: Any idea what the torque should be on the 17mm bolts? I looked in the maintenance manual and didn't find it; I presume they're not supposed to be removed? Any suggestions you might have would be most welcome! Also, subscribed! Really an excellent video in every way in showing every step with a clear description and camera angle, very, very helpful!

    • @ShopDogFabrication
      @ShopDogFabrication 3 месяца назад

      Hello, sorry missed your comment. I do not know the torque for the 17mm bolts. I will many times use a couple drops of blue locktite. The 14mm you definitely need to get freed up. I normally will use heat and work them free. I saw a product the other day that was interesting and I don’t remember who sells it but it actually is a spray that freezes the fastener and they were able to get a bleeder screw loose.

    • @TysoniusRex
      @TysoniusRex 2 месяца назад

      @@ShopDogFabrication Thank you for the suggestion regarding freezing the part. I don’t have a heat source that could be applied in this situation, but as it turns out I was finally successful in removing the bolts without snapping them. I applied a ridiculous amount of penetrating oil, tightened the bolts, then carefully unscrewed them while periodically tightening them and spraying more oil on them. Worked like a charm, though it did take some time! Thanks again for your video, it was very helpful!

      @ShopDogFabrication 3 месяца назад

      Front or back of the wheel house? If back side behind the quarter panel that is the quarter panel to trunk drop off. They make reproduction ones and I had to do mine when I did the trunk. If in front of the wheel house that’s the lower rocker panel and they make they part as well. Not sure if these are the areas your talking about.

      There is a small channel below the inner sail where the whindow rests and this is the mall channel about 1/2 inch below that area. This area of window meets the roof and runs down to where the pacakge tray meet. That area extends from L quarter to roof to R quarter below where glass sits. Trying to figure what this is and if it is needed, because it is rusted away on the L side.

      Gotcha, the area where rear package tray where glass goes meets the panel underneath is rotted out. Would be easier to see with pics but I get where you’re talking about. Me personally I’d get some 18 ga and repair it from a structural standpoint. It’s an area no one will ever see.

    Where do you get cereal boxes?

      Eating cereal, we have several recycle areas where you can take cardboard, I’m sure you could find similar boxes. Cracker boxes are the same.
