@Andrew Harper he used his custom stratocaster with twin humbuckers and a single coil in the middle, for the guitar tone of that song i'd strongly reccomend a marshall amp with a fuzz pedal and a flanger/chorus like the EHX Electric Mistress which is both a flanger/chorus
@widowmaker5544 I roadied for Eric once. He played through my Marshall JMP 50 watt combo and told me the humbuckers are actually just covers and hide single coil pick ups. I got to play the Strat and it was worn completely smooth on the body and back of the neck. Eric is a phenomenal player.

@matt'n'bea : yay. Good to see you back. My old DSL 401 (predecessor to the dsl40) has the FX loop volume on the front. If you jump the FX loop plugs with a jack in the back, the knob works as a presence. I'm guessing it's a happy accident of the design, and I can't remember if it's because the FX loop is parallel or in series. Whichever it is, that's why the FX vol works like that.

@@Simeon_Harris Haha trust me, it has confused me more than once as well! The way he used it a lot of times makes it sound like a Phaser in the mix oddly enough - however, both Brian and Phil did use phasers every once in a while
I was in London for 2 days last week and made the trek out to Guildford to check out Andertons and Rabea and Matt were filming this (I think) episode. Was great seeing the store and seeing how they film. In case anyone was wondering: Rabea's hair is actually enormous - it's awesome. You should test out whether some setups which were made for one style are suitable for others, e.g. a thrash metal setup for blues. I wonder how much the style of playing or the music comes into play with the sound. Obviously the amp and pedal settings will have to be tweaked a lot.
I've got the flu and I gotta blanket on me head cause I felt like shit...until Bea and Matt started playing Thin Lizzy.Im up and jammin to ya.Thanks dudes and its good tosee the boys r back\m/
Great to have you back lads! I swear. Take a Les Paul, plug it into a good Marshal, and you instantly have decent tone. It’s like they were made for each other.
Seen Thin Lizzy live a million times, with Robertson or Moore or Snowy White and you guys nailed it, except for the bloopers at the end, then you sound like me. Regards from Melbourne.
Brian Robertson and Scott Gorham both used Les Paul Deluxe's from '74 to '76 as that was the only LP's a gigging band could afford. After changing the mini pups to full size humbuckers on his Deluxe, (nowadays his main guitar) Brian got a LP Custom in '77 changing the plastic hardware to white so it looked like a Standard (go figure), a different, slightly warmer, sound as the Custom was all mahogany back then. Gorham loved the thicker sound and bought a '59 in Boston for £1200 in '78, everyone in the band thought he was mad at the time, I reckon it was a brilliant investment! As everyone knows, Gary Moore used his '59 Standard, Once owned by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, Now by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, in his stints in the band ;0)
Great sound guys this one of my favourite sound likes🤘 been a massive fan of lizzy since I picked up a guitar. I got a boss GE-7 in lock down when I had a peddle melt down n went from 2 pedals to 12 in about a week, 😂 its probably the only pedal you need for that classic rock tone tbh. 👍🤘🎸

*You need the EQ pedals with Marshall's because Lizzy used Hiwatt/Laney mostly which have totally different low mids* Brian Robertson - Refinished Les Paul Custom -> Hiwatt (Wah needed) Scott Gorham - Les Paul Deluxe -> Laney Literally buy any vintage OD for either and that's Thin Lizzy. A Laney AOR will do great for either, avoid Marshall's they don't get the right low mids for Lizzy.

Agreed. I'd love to hear something from Disintegration....Fascination Street maybe?
Need to do it but need the bass sound from disintegration as well (the song)... classic
Man, it sounds so good and yet it also feels like something's been torn away from it without the bass.
Sound like 70s KISS!! Please!!! You guys are awesome!
Sound like Def Leppard? Great to have you guys back!

Yep, a Strat into a treble booster into an AC30
Just get a decent strat, a vox ac30 and an eq pedal. Leave the eq pedal flat except for the treble frequencies.
don't forget years of acidic sweat to strip the paint off your strat and leave it in the Dublin mountains for a while to cure ... and get the tone
Don't know how they haven't done this yet.

As far as getting the tone.. Nailed it! absolutely bang on.
Great that the boys are back in town!!! Suggestions: Rival Sons, 1000mods, Clutch, Gary Clark Jr., Kirk Fletcher, Josh Smith
1000mods are bad ass!!!
Absolute classic rock sounds, that was a real treat! More 70’s rock please. (Disappointed there was no Whiskey in the Jar lick though, how could you?)
