To overcome the water depth issue, get yourself a pair of stocking foot waist waders and a pair of boots about 3 sizes bigger than you need to allow for the thickness of the neoprene sock. They're great, it's just like wearing a pair of thicker trousers, and you don't need to worry about wet or muddy conditions or over-topping your wellies in slightly deeper water.
Hi John. Really enjoyed this week's video! I was pleased that you were able to get to that little rocky outcrop because your compositions were really special from that viewpoint. Lovely colours once again! ThankYou for sharing
Loved this, John, Super place, you got terrific shots, the Colours are lovely and as I have mentioned a few times before your Processing has really brought out the detail and beautiful Colours. Definitely think you have a few Potential big prints, I will definitely need to have a trip down.
John, I think the first of your videos I watched was at the Devil's Pulpit. Around that time, a lot of your videos involved waterfalls in wooded areas. They had a kind of mysterious quality to them that really drew me in. Today's video is like visiting an old friend! The images are so rich and they have that mysterious, intimate quality that first captured my interest. These are magnificent photos! I also really enjoyed how you shared with us the way you handled the unexpected changes to the scene because of the higher water level. Seeing your thought process as you explored ways to take the shots--and explaining how you used different timing on exposurs for different parts of the shot--was really instructive. At some point, I hope you'll walk us through how you put all that together in post processing. Thank you! I hope someday I'll get to visit Scotland and photograph some of these stunning locations myself.
Thanks Jim! You might be interested to know that my next video will be from the Devil's Pulpit again! Managed to get some mist there for the first time, so look out for that soon. Also, there could be some news in the next Newsletter about post-processing tutorials! ;)
@@JohnMcKennaPhotography after watching your video this morning, I looked at Simon Jerromes'. You were there with him at Devil's Pulpit, so I figured there'd be another from there coming soon! I'll look forward to it.
Another great video John and some absolutely stunning shots.I also watched your previous vlog at this location and my,my what a difference a couple of months makes !! The autumnal colours totally change the atmosphere and vibrancy in your photos. Looking forward to watching your next location.
Some good work here. I like the amount of depth you have captured in these images. Did you merge any of your shots to create one image? I'm not sure if you mentioned that. They only thing I would change, is the melancolly music in your video. Try some ambient Jazz perhaps, instead.
Those images of the S-bend under the bridge are just superb John. They're right up my street. Rather jealous of each of those images if I'm being honest 🙂
Best thing about the location is the variety of shots you can get within a tiny locality. The weather report is for fog on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. I've been a lazy sod this autumn but I guess I'm going to have to make the effort.
Beautiful Images
