Sorry for my ignorance at 36:47 onward, Mr Rule states that "if you buy the sector you will lose money" what exactly is meant buy this statement. Does he mean if you purchase say an etf with a basket of miners ? is that bad ?

    • @jrcrash4644

I think he means that a lot of mining companies are dogs that never make money for their investors. So instead of buying an index that includes said miners, it's better to pick individual companies that have better fundamentals and can deliver big returns if the price of gold moons.

In the 80s with one gold bar, you could buy an apartment in the center of Antwerp in Belgium. A decent apartment today in the centre of Antwerp costs at least 400 000usd. In the 80s the Chinese were still doing agriculture and demand from China was not as big as today. Viewing the intrinsic value of gold based on that example. Gold should move up x 5. That is excluding the effect of the increased demand for (physical) gold. Banks have been selling 'digital gold' 100 x more than the physical. If you add all these up together with the excessive money printing, the sky is the limit for gold. The one million dollar question is WHEN will gold break out to its real intrinsic value... my 2cts

Sanctions aren't about immediate effects, they are about long term effects, thinking they are for the short term is a somewhat unsophisticated view of what they are and how they are meant to work. If you think they don't work, compare North Korea to South Korea (THE prime example of the long term effects of sanctions) and then get back to me. Oil was never meant to be affected by the sanctions too much other then to place some sort of price cap out there but the powers that be don't want to stop the flow of oil and they understand that it will find a market to be sold regardless.
