🤘😎🤘 in 1997 they came to Houston Texas . They played at an outdoor venue and that it was one of the most craziest shows I ever attended they open the set with slave. It was one of like the most craziest MoshPit and I got a blackeye during their set it was insane.
At the time I was listening to a lot of punk rock and thrash and death metal and I honestly thought the pit was going to be tamed and it was not it was just as hard as a Slayer show.

perspective is a funny thing, back in the day ,myself and lot of fans of heavier stuff didn't take them very seriously thinking they were too pop sounding, didn't have the chops, just kids , grunge wannabe's ect..and now in 2018 I can only hope to find anything that kicks this much ass anywhere on the radio or MM during the rare moments they still play music that is. all the "rock" kids today that are listening to Imagine Dragons and panic at the disco should be tied to a chair and made to listen to this on 10.

Layne had an instantly recognizable voice -as does Daniel-but their 100% nothing alike. Quit fucking comparing Silverchair to every band on the planet. They were unique. They had their own thing and that thing is untouchable to this day. Fuck,no wonder Johns became a recluse.

    2:22 - 2:42 That voice though.
All the nobbers comparing this song to Mad Season 'I don't know anything' I can see a your point, the verses are freakishly similar. But, A, who released their songs first? And B, Daniel Johns is too original to muster such an obvious similarity (on purpose at least) X

+James Gormley Some Silverchair songs in Freak Show were inspired by Seattle bands, it's true. Learn to Hate et Lie To Me looks like some Nirvana songs, Slave's riff is similar to Mad Season's and Suicidal Dream's riff looks like Blled The Freak's riff (from Alice In Chains)
Oh and by the way :
Mad Season - I Don't Know Anything was released as a single in 1995 but was played for the first time in 1994
Silverchair - Slave was released in 1997 in Freak Show but was played for the first time in late 1995-1996

+James Gormley Mad Season's "I Don't know Anything" was from their 1995 eponymous record. "Slave", I believe was off SilverChair's 1996/'97 album "FreakShow".

The song with the similar riff is called "I don't know Anything" ;) It's a great song, if you like Alice In Chains, you'll like this one ^^

Timidium wow I listened to the song, and fuck that sounds so much like AIC I think AIC should be given credit for both songs hahaha

@thenewpollution2 ah shit, i got confused with "shade" and "slave". i was thinkin shade was on freakshow and slave was on frogstomp instead of vice versa, my bad. but my mad season opinion still stands. not that it matters now since i've made an ass of myself.

  • @SkyThreader
    @SkyThreader 13 лет назад

@thenewpollution2 i've already heard it and i just listened to it again per your suggestion, and my opinion about mad season previously stated that it was a bad idea, still stands, and i feel even stronger about it now having listened to that song again. the whole album was just a big miss.

Sky Threader 2018 now. I agree with your Mad Season critique. I did buy it back in the day because of Layne’s presence- that voice right? Other than being a novelty, the record was nearly forgettable. As you pointed out,Jerry Cantrell was the conductor in AIC- producing their their signature sound.
*there is no denying however hearing Layne sing those haunting verses “Wake up....not sure if that’s the title but you know the one I’m talking about.

Freak Show is still one of my favorite albums. But yeah I really only listen to 90s music...I just don't think a lot of the newer bands compare to this shit.

@tlsgs16 bad idea????!!!!!!above was a brilliant album.... this song comes no where near close to the musical capacity as tht album... silverchair now comes a lil closer as far as musical structuring and arrangement.. they've became alot more talented even tho most dont understand thr direction. AIC was cantrell's show... mad season was layne's... get the difference
