    ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO:
    How Can I Treat My Dogs Ear Mites at Home?
    Once your dog has ear mites, you'll want to get rid of them quickly as they can spread to other animals in the household. The natural home remedies for ear mites in dogs described in the video are effective, they work! These are far kinder to your dog than the vet prescribed steroidal treatments, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications.
    Dogs and cats can damage their hearing, their ears and become terrible companions if they are left to suffer with ear mites and not treated. During the mite’s three week life cycle a lot of miserableness can be borne.
    How to Get Rid of Ear Mites in Dogs
    Whether the infestation affects the internal or external ear canal the irritation, itching and resulting inflammation can lead to infection. So if your dog's scratching at the ears or head shaking, be sure to check for mites and treat with a gentle but effective dog ear mite home remedy as described in the video.
    I'll describe how I use my 3 favorite natural dog ear mite home remedy treatments:
    • LAVENDER is antifungal, antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It will clean and accelerate healing while being great for soothing and relaxing your dog at the same time. Get pure lavender oil, mix 10 drops into a cereal sized bowl of warm water, dampen a cloth in the bowl, wring out so it's not dripping wet and clean out infected ears of grease, oil, particles and mites.
    • COLLOIDAL SILVER is an effective antibiotic, antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral so great for yeasty ear infections. You can apply as an ear wash to clean out the ears, then deliver half a dropper into the ear canal to kill an ear infection quickly, your dog will shake out the excess and infections have been resolved within 24hrs There's also a spray available for easy administration, links in the description below.
    • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR mixed with pure water in equal proportions - A natural anti-inflammatory and antiseptic and a champion in dog ear infection remedies. Cleaning instructions are the same as for lavender.
    Once you’ve cleaned the ears then apply the dog ear mites home remdy treatment of choice. It will likely take about a month or so to be sure the treatment has had time to completely cure your dogs ear mites.
    Though this routine may take a little longer than medications, it’s a lot healthier for your pet in the long run. Also, be sure to treat both ears because if ear mites are in one they are likely to show up in the other if not treated.

      Often enough to keep them clean and clear of mites. If it's mites, clean with neem oil on cotton swab: amzn.to/3iV0Igq
      If there's any infection, clean first and then spray with silver (antibiotic): amzn.to/3gJ16i3

    HI Dan! Long time no see! I hope you're doing well. I have a question: I just recently saw that my dog must have ear mites due to the coffee ground discharge. I cleaned his ears with diluted oregano oil ( learned a lot from your other videos) and his ears stayed clean for a few days until the discharge came back. I wasn't aware at that time that it might be mites. Just yesterday I then realized that his hearing is impaired and that he does not react to low frequency or noises that are not really loud like a clap. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations what to do or try. Unfortunately, I don't have a holistic vet close by.

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  5 месяцев назад

      Hey, great to hear from you. Whats causing the mites? Are you feeding a fresh food based diet? Any yeast issues, scratching, chewing, bronzed nails/tow hair?

    • @keinohrtini
      @keinohrtini 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@DanScott1 yes, he has been eating raw for approximately 5 years and although he had the occasional itchy ear because he does have a lot of food sensitivities, we have that pretty much under control. No chewing, no biting. I don’t now what could have caused them other than maybe from playing with the neighbors dog. He also gets the soil based probiotic you recommended once a day. I have been putting 3-4 drops of castor oil in his ears for the past 4 days to get rid of the mites. I am just more worried that he can’t hear me when I come in, etc

      @@keinohrtini Yes, maybe from next doors dog. If friendly with the neighbors, have them check and treat their dog.
      When it clears the hearing will improve.
      For the ears, coat/skin and next doors dog use Neem oil: amzn.to/3iV0Igq at 1 paert neem oil to 3 parts carrier oil, mix and apply to affected ares or wipe out the ears.
      Can mix down with Witch Hazel (organic) - (relieves itch, swelling, paws & broken skin) amzn.to/48ZERhi
      1 drop neem oil to 10 drops witch hazel, mix and 3-4 drops into ear once daily for a few days.

      @@DanScott1 Thank you so much Dan! I appreciate you so much! I was wondering how the debris from the inner ears clears? I understand that the oil suffocates the mites but what about debris in the horizontal ear canal? How does it get out? By itself due to the treatment or is vet intervention necessary?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@keinohrtini The first thing a vet will do is investigate, clean where possible and first suggest liquids to move everything out via a dog shaking it out over 1-2 weeks and if does not work, the dog may well need sedation and manual cleaning.
      So, start with something like this: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=2049047&u=728265&m=15347&urllink=&afftrack=
      and see if the problem can be cleared by your dogs actions.

      It's good for cleaning out the ears too and has moderate anti biotic and anti viral abilities.

      Simply spray into the ear after cleaning with coconut oil.

      @@rainbow-er4py The coconut oil is ok to use. Use the hydrogen peroxide as 1.5% for cleaning/drops. Add fresh food to the diet like raw eggs, veggies (part cooked and blended), canned sardines and some meats/organs. And give low carbs, no sugars or drugs/vaccs etc
      If feeding dry food take out 30% and replace with the above to stop yeast and ear infections over time. Also any edible herbs you can add to meals is also good such as dandelion leaves.

    Can ear mites cause problems to humans ? And if the dog lays around the house , like couches and kids beds should we be concerned ? How often should we change dog bedding ?

    • @DanScott1
      @DanScott1  3 года назад +3

      Ear mites like dirty places with food available and generally want to stay in the ear to survive. Keep the ears cleaned out weekly.
      If things like bedding are washed and some vacuuming done routinely, say weekly, there's no problem.
