Southbank is the absolute jewel in the crown. Walk a couple of hundred metres to the west of there to Musgrave Park and there is a homeless encampment full of junkies and criminals.

Interesting. This comes back to how people perceive where they live. I would say that on balance everywhere we saw in Brisbane was gorgeous. There are other locations globally that were less attractive. We aren't a channel that is about going deep into the locations we visit but equally if we don't like a place we will say so or just not cover it (as was the case with about 3 hours of footage that we took earlier this year). We honestly loved Australia all over.

@@intellectualgladiatayeah but in general Brisbane is a lot better than a lot of cities. I'm afraid their are homeless and junkies in a lot of cities. Some through no choice of their own. Some because they don't want to follow some rules.

Great video…and so very true that when we live somewhere we no longer see it through the same eyes as visitors do. In some ways that’s a shame, because as a resident you stop seeking out new places or experience that are right there on your doorstep. Look forward to your next adventure and observations!

Love that you are in my home country OZ - your road trip will be amazing - I grew up in the Blue Mountains, and it is an absolute must for you both to experience. The train network is amazing out of Sydney Central Station - 1.5 hrs to Katoomba (you have to see the 3 sisters) a short walk 2km or cheap taxi from Katoomba station to 3 sisters location. Chilly temps this time of year, but if there is no fog you will be impressed. 2 days is all you need - Enjoy the iconic harbour bridge and Opera House out of Sydney CBD - the ferries across to Manly beach or Taronga Zoo are a great cheap way to see the harbour - Opera House and Harbour Bridge icons. The best road trip by far is the Great Ocean Road out of Melbourne (which is where you started your OZ adventure) for the 12 apostles if you are headed back south. OZ is an expensive country - however, enjoy all that it has to offer. PS - I really hope you get to Cairns and further North to the Great Barrier Reef - it is off peak season and the cheapest time to go out of Port Douglas. Enjoy Australia and keep up the great video posts ❤️

In fact the plans are so uncannily similar, right down to the spreadsheets. I do a weekly delivery run to the very street you were staying in... Just missed ya! You guys would be absolutely loving the weather here the last week or so and forecast the next 10 days. Humidity gone, perfectly clear blue skies and maximum 22-24. Travel safe guys.

Great to see you in my town. I totally concur with the friend that you met. We live about 10 minutes from where you stayed in Brisbane and my wife and I are leaving Australia forever at the end of the year. Australia is probably wonderful for tourists but when you scratch a little below the surface it has become a very authoritarian society with rules for everything. Couple this high cost of living and high taxation and any visual appeal loses it's luster.
Look forward to seeing your next videos traveling down to NSW coast to Sydney.

Yeah its hot in summer and the traffic is just getting worse because its the fastest growing part of the country. Taxes and fuel are expensive but the quality of the food, air and water is probably the best in the world. I love QLD and moved from Sydney after 50 plus years down there. The area just north of Brisbane is very similar to Florid.

Great tour Beautiful city and I'm amazed by the lagoon. I wonder what all the rules are that people complain about. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed Hamilton. I was curious, as a Brit, how it would be received by you and I wonder if Sarah enjoyed it too. I loved it and thought Lin-Manuel Miranda is a genius putting a gazillion words together for the lyrics. King George III's part is a huge laugh in the States. Really enjoying all of your recent videos and looking forward to your road trip. Thank you.

Enjoy everyone of your videos Neal but, I have to say this new format does not complete your natural, genuine style. I can't forget your glow when you were combining the travel topic with the finances aspect. That was great fun...educational and entertaining. Just my two cents....I realize all videos require lot of effort and I really appreciate all your posts. When you have a slow topic day, can you elaborate on how you guys find short/long term lodging? What sites do you use? Good luck.

Right now our entire community has been evacuated due to wildfires in Alberta, Canada and we are put up in a hotel. I just don't have time to watch the whole thing right now. I know I said I wanted this type of video and I'll make an effort to watch it again later but unfortunately right now we have too much going on. So I am skipping ahead to the end chatter. xxx PS New camera ;)

Can I suggest you get a new camera and film the sites and then add in the commentary.
Also, walking around at dusk you missed a lot of the South Bank highlights as your camera is not very good.
I now base myself in Brisbane although have been an expat for 35 years.
I think Brisbane is one of the most liveable cities - everywhere could be better but Brisbane is about as good as you will get in a city of over 2 million people.

Maybe one of these days Britain will declare itself independent of the monarchy--a sort of "Monarxit". Then there will be a play by the name of one of the people who led the push, and we could come up with The Independence Games together.
