Our high school daughters traveled with us to a business meeting in New York City, and we made them promise that they would get out by themselves and find something fun to do. They started very early in the morning and stood in line to get into the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. They got a ticket to return in the afternoon and got to see an incredible show that evening. It was an all-day process, but it is a memory they cherish. Plus, it helped them learn that they could be independent and adventurous. Sounds like you made your own fun, too! John & Bev

Glad you had fun in Melbourne. I love living here. I remember going to watch filming of "Who Dares Wins" in England 25 years ago. Still remember being shocked by Tony Robinson wandering around stark naked for about 20 minutes (part of a sketch).

I have just returned from 6 months of slow travel and whenever I'm away I think I love travel, but when I return to my home country I realise I've just dumped a chunk of money to see, do and eat VERY similar things I have on my doorstep but just in a hotter country. Course it's excting and different because its all new? Just like other people's food ALWAYS looks better than mine even if its the same dish! Travel has become the new "stuff" we're all being fooled into thinking it's the best purchase you can make, it can heal, enlighten and make you some super being... whilst materialistic goals are constantly demonised so people are throwing their money around the world and into the global economy to try and 'buy' this mystical power of travel. You can not beat your OWN comfy bed, your OWN comfy chair, your OWN stuff around you and a bit of solitude in a home you love. Travel is becoming seriously overrated and overhyped. I now think im ready to fall in love with my home country for a bit. As seth Godin said im going to try Create a life i don't need to run away from.

Between the (partial) remodel of our future home-base of West Virginia, and our (current) research into some areas of Mexico to spend our retirement winter months, it's been quite a whirlwind of R&D and data gathering. How do normal humans do this? It's bat-**** crazy! But it is fun to plan and flex to the whims of our passions. Collingwood v Carlton would normally get around 80,000 in for a proper league game, Ikon Park, formerly Princes Park, was Carltons old home ground up until the early 90s. Ive lived in Melbourne for years, originally from Stoke on Trent, still a massive Port Vale fan but love the AFL too. Really enjoying your videos

it’s a storied rivalry collingwood and carlton. more’s a pity you didn’t get to a season proper game between the two, seeing the mcg in all its glory. love that you included bruce doull’s headband. the man was a legend in the 70s and 80s. my team, collingwood is currently top of the ladder. ikon park/princes park is affectionately referred to as pricefixer park by many collingwood supporters. carlton have not been doing so well over the last 30 years due to rorting the salary cap system. anyway, i hope you enjoyed my home town.
Eddie Maguire is great! We watch this show every afternoon in Sydney. And Coles…yep our local grocery shop along with Woolworths which is similar. Glad you’ve enjoyed your time in Australia.
