Very rare to see a kill screen that: -Is practically free of typos/grammatical errors -Doesn't use cheap scare tactics -Stays true to the console fonts/screens/etc -Follows a logical series of events (here, the console was failing to read the Memory Cards' data due to corrupted components and BIOS, and it clearly showed that story, even with the attempted bootups by the user which took more than 5 attempts before recovery mode came up - recovery mode tends to show up way too early in a lot of such videos) And a good ending to boot! this is a breath of fresh air for fans of these kinds of videos. some of them aren't accurate to the time it was made, let alone any kind of TV technology. what i like is that this isn't mimicking a VHS screen when most do ??? (they don't even take discs) along with having period accurate technology (mentioning booklets). it's a breath of fresh air.
Finally, an actually good killscreen video. Out of all killscreens this is certainly the best and most realistic, the others were ridiculous (for example, a now deleted Mac OS X Jaguar Killscreen somehow causes your iMac to explode in such a way that causes winter... in the middle of June).
I like the little touches to this video that make it feel like an actual person is experiencing this firsthand. The multiple restarts, and even the (presumably) removal and re-insertion of the memory card twice at 2:29 before resetting the system again. The boot into recovery mode is also a nice addition.
This is probably one of the most interesting and actually decent kill screens ever! It's got realistic scenarios and correct font. It almost looks real! The captions kind of seem a little bit janky at times but overall still amazing!
This is amazing. No "FATAL ERROR" jumpscare, no weird filters, straightforward, has a good ending, looks legitimate, and my favourite part of it all, the way you've done the CCs. I'd give it a 9/10 with the only think keeping it from a perfect 10 being the sentence "suffering from serious malfunction" Overall, this is easily my favourite kill screen on youtube. Nice job 👍
This is the most impressive PS2 killscreen I've seen. It doesn't overuse the RSoD you'd get if the disc wasn't a PS1/PS2 game. Other PS2 killscreens basically overuse the RSoD on every single message to the point where it ruins the creepiness of the RSoD and makes it more boring.
i like how realistic this feels to be fair i mean i dobut it would too hard to remake the system's style of ui because of the system's basic font and ui in general but there is no jumpsacres or loud scary noises and still has enough to make it feel unselting also i like the whole tv look to it, with the no singal and av text boxes and the composite picture effect is good, it feels realistic from a console using av but still worn down, its better than alot of these videos that just find some horrible green screen vhs effect on youtube and call it a day. and its refereshing to see it end on a happy ending instead of a red flashing screen saying "FATAL ERROR" or something good video allround
this is very cool! i usually see killscreens that are lazy, kinemaster watermark, arial font no effects. this is the first good one i've seen (of course it's unrealistic, if it was real they probably wouldn't make it so creepy lol) EDIT: The recovery system check is literally just ripped straight out of windows 10.... haha, Still cool!
I still like to come back to this video sometimes mostly because it's well-produced, realistic, well-thought out and sometimes scary (despite the fact that it doesn't feel like it's trying to, for me at least.) There are other PS2 killscreens but most of them (including pap) are basically unrealistic compared to this one.
heres a fun fact, originally i planned to start working on this during the same time as my N64 kill screen from feb '21. there was also a deleted scene which was the RSOD completely glitched out (using the A/V output effect, not RTC because it didn't work for me), but i think you might know the reason why i decided to not add that part
You NAILED the atmosphere of this, and its overall pretty convincing, but there is one huge thing from making this perfect, and thats the wording of a lot of this. Maybe I just mess around with too many consoles to be the only one to notice this, but a lot of the wording isn't formal enough for Sony to use. Especially on the BIOS repair option where an option says "I'll repair is myself" or something when it would be "Manual repair" or something similar. I'm just nitpicking cause i have a bit of an eye for these things, but this is the best one I've ever seen! Hope you make some more! Would love to see it.
yeah i see what you mean by the whole "recovery mode" segment, it just feels different looking back at it now i do miss producing kill screen videos but it'll take a pretty while to regain my interest in this trend like how I discovered it back in 2019
practically the kids' killscreens: "therer has benn erorr shut ur device" *doesn't do it* "therer has benn bigger erorr shut ur device" *doesn't do it* "errorr to big enter ercoverye moed" *enters recovery* after 1 millisecond of scan... "FATAL ERRor! this thing is bricked go touch grass" and then flash red screen thats all
This is very great! Its sad you wont make anymore kill screens, but it takes alot of time, so thats fine! Here are some things i liked about this video. 1 : 「Accuracy 」 - The fonts which tell you stuff abt the console is so accurate, And an even shocking thing is, its Helvetica. The editing is amazing too! It looks extremely similar. 2 : 「Video」 - This video is very decent from all of the PS2 kill screens, Most of them have the kinemaster logo, different font, and childish stuff, and at the end, theres an fatal error. While your video has no logo, accurate fonts, no fatal error at the end, and its normal after the automatic repair!:D 3: 「Captions」 - This makes the video more interesting! 4: 「Rating」 I would give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) to this video!
@@skexofiner.nsystemz ok hope you get that motivation! i'm also not that active in terms of creating content, though I'm starting a VGM preservation project and an ARG

this was something that had been stuck on me for a little while now, but i figured i should talk about the unofficial kill-screen genre, how i had stumbled upon it, and where i think it's heading nowadays. I first stumbled upon this trend back in late september 2019 when i had just noticed a video titled "Windows 10's scariest kill screen" show up in my recommendation feed during that time *this was ruclips.net/video/U5a3SLS9n9k/видео.html *. being as someone who had taken an interest for creepypastas, this video really did appeal to me and I wanted to find very similar-looking stuff, which also gave me the inspiration to make a "fake kill screen" video. after just a good few hours of making my own, i decided to post it and expected it to perform in the same way that the video I stumbled upon did. *ruclips.net/video/1KV8GkswH8Y/видео.html * later on while I didn't really catch up with the genre, i posted a TON of shitty kill screens that are still out there for you to look at - i have a playlist on my channel called "Un-official Kill Screens" that stores every kill-screen video i had produced from '19 to '22. so now, what is the kill-screen genre becoming nowadays? not really healthy. for a very long time now, i had just been trying to find a kill-screen video that was really well made, but that appears really hard to find nowadays, and thus why I decided to quit making kill-screen videos ever since. all there is since this video caused a *massive* impact on this genre (it apparently got more people's attention and I did not expect that to happen though), a lot of these so-called "creators" just didn't learn from flaws that are just pretty obvious. i.e., fonts that don't match with the system font, cheap jumpscares, fake VHS filters that kill it for me honestly, and even screens that just say some weird shit, like: "YOUR KONSOLE IS GONNA BE DIED IF U JUST KEEP ON TURNING IT ON PLS TURN OFF UR KONSOLE NOW". will I ever return to producing kill-screen videos? it's most definitely a maybe. on the inside, I think of how this video opened up people's eyes about what a "realistic" kill-screen video should be (despite the fact that some of you actually pointed out certain flaws in this but that's mostly just what you think), how it actually helped revive my channel from dying. not only did this video push the limits of realism of the genre to a higher level, but on the very inside of me I actually somewhat miss making these videos. so on that note, maybe i'll most likely make a return, but don't expect me to. so, to summarize, only time will tell. anyway, about the video blowing in popularity. in around february of 2023, this video had around ~30.000 views and my channel sat at ~1.2k subscribers, but as the month started progressing, I saw this channel growing at a rate that left me shocked, surprised and happy. and with that, I'd like to thank you all for making this my most viewed video so far, with a good amount of ~400.000 views and 8.600+ likes, and that it helped revive my channel which was dying and was just performing pretty poorly.
There's a good difference between Kill Screens that are just generic cheap tricks that have the console becoming sentient and/or degrading the user, and actual GENUINE kill screens that are the result of faulty hardware and the console attempting to deal with said faults. Of course, almost ALL of them follow the same route of, "Machine keeps failing to start, use safe mode/repair mode/recovery mode (or other similar words) to fix it, attempts to fix it and goes horribly wrong", along with all the other generic scare tactics that exist (I don't mean to call you out FANSONIC, but I know you use this same repetitive structure a LOT). Your kill screen videos feel genuine, and even though this one did follow the same trend of the machine failing to boot over and over and having to go into "repair mode", yours actually ended with it having succeeded in fixing any faults it originally had. We could all do with a little more of that and none of these cheap jumpscare tricks that people seem to be SO heavily into at this point.
Out of all of the kill screens I've seen, this one takes the cake, instead of having the system insulting the heck and yelling at you before it reaches 0 HP and become history, this kill screen actually tells that there's something wrong with the console and helps solving the problem so that the PS2 can start working again Also, you're cool for having Need For Speed Carbon and Gran Turismo 4
No matter how good the killscreen is, (Beautiful work btw, this is a killscreen done RIGHT,) They all have one thing in common.... *The creator will always push the piece of tech to its absolute limits, no matter how many warnings come up.*
‘Oh? It says the console is seriously malfunctioning and may be a fire hazard if allowed to be on for any longer? *Well let’s just turn it off and on again to fix it* ‘
@@Zoey_767To be fair, a lot of people would do the same. If brute forcing something in order to fix it is an option, then it's an option a lot of people are going to want to go for.
Best one i've seen so far lmao most of them followed like a 3 step process, "Your system is malfunction please turn it off" "You didn't turn it off!! Please turn it off!!!" "critical error!!!!" still some technical inaccuracies (bios performance?) but at least it's not basic garbage
holy fuck its a kill screen that is made with quality in mind, has no dumbass jumpscares and is successful! (for once) it really looks like something you'd legit see on a ps2, good job man
yeah this video unexpectedly took off in february 2023 which is what i was not actually expecting to happen, prior to that event it had like around ~30k views
@@skexofiner.nsystemz and it took off for a good reason - you didn't make some crappy video that has cartoon characters that arent related with the system or shitty jumpscares that no software developer will add or barely even trying - you put in effort and time in order to produce something that stands out. something that is made with quality and love.
Fun fact about the PS2: a type of “kill screen” in the actual ps2 is if the swirly dots in the bios stop spinning. This is because the swirly dots are spinning because of the CMOS battery, and when the battery dies, the dots stop because the dots spin based on the CMOS battery working, so it is quite literally a result of the battery breaking visibly without looking inside the hardware
Experienced a genuine "kill screen"? (Or I suppose, what would be as close to such a thing as one could expect) Repaired my original 77001 with a new power button/lid switch assembly (yeah I already had a used 79001 at this point but hey it was my original I got new back in 07 or so) Green light was a good sign, started the boot sequence and.. fully froze within 5 seconds of reaching the main menu. Didn't power down just, locked. Wouldn't power on after that though. Disconnected new ribbon cable and no power that time either, tried with my 79001 power supply and, still dead. Did not attempt the original power supply on the new system just in case it was dead, quick probe with a multimeter showed a dead PSU. Thing sat for about 3-4 years at that stage, didn't like being brought back apparently lol.
What??? This is not even a real kill screen??? No way. Man, this edit is cool as hell. It looks so real, so i belived in this. Even when I have a real ps2
The first one with just the buttons showing on screen is caused by the hardware acceleration being too fast, because I did this on an emulator and it showed that result.
Very interesting stuff. I downloaded PCSX2 around last night, started messing with the settings and got the same thing. Maybe it's because of presets being set to "Mostly harmful."
what gets my is that those "Kill Screens" if they actually happen they would most likely be informative of how to manage the error and stuff, sure it can be scary because of the ambience or the fear of losing the console itself, but when kids try to force the horror thing it really ruins it and becomes boring y'know. But this one manages to have an interesting concept

this is a breath of fresh air for fans of these kinds of videos. some of them aren't accurate to the time it was made, let alone any kind of TV technology. what i like is that this isn't mimicking a VHS screen when most do ??? (they don't even take discs) along with having period accurate technology (mentioning booklets). it's a breath of fresh air.
Finally, an actually good killscreen video. Out of all killscreens this is certainly the best and most realistic, the others were ridiculous (for example, a now deleted Mac OS X Jaguar Killscreen somehow causes your iMac to explode in such a way that causes winter... in the middle of June).
I regret making a Mac OS X Puma Cold kill screen. Worst one i did
Also so was the old tiger gamecom thing. I feel like remastering one of them tbh
@Josh A why would you come up with the idea of a nuclear football
I like the little touches to this video that make it feel like an actual person is experiencing this firsthand. The multiple restarts, and even the (presumably) removal and re-insertion of the memory card twice at 2:29 before resetting the system again. The boot into recovery mode is also a nice addition.
check the subtitles
This is probably one of the most interesting and actually decent kill screens ever! It's got realistic scenarios and correct font. It almost looks real! The captions kind of seem a little bit janky at times but overall still amazing!
This is amazing! Great work! It looks so legit and it actually has a good ending! Amazing work on this!
This is the only kill screen video I saw that has a good ending. Nice job!
This is amazing. No "FATAL ERROR" jumpscare, no weird filters, straightforward, has a good ending, looks legitimate, and my favourite part of it all, the way you've done the CCs.
I'd give it a 9/10 with the only think keeping it from a perfect 10 being the sentence "suffering from serious malfunction"
Overall, this is easily my favourite kill screen on youtube. Nice job 👍
A Kill screen with a good ending. Neat.
yes
This is the most impressive PS2 killscreen I've seen. It doesn't overuse the RSoD you'd get if the disc wasn't a PS1/PS2 game. Other PS2 killscreens basically overuse the RSoD on every single message to the point where it ruins the creepiness of the RSoD and makes it more boring.
yeah I don't see why people just take the "RSOD with no text" thing and then just slam some text there
i like how realistic this feels
to be fair i mean i dobut it would too hard to remake the system's style of ui because of the system's basic font and ui in general but there is no jumpsacres or loud scary noises and still has enough to make it feel unselting
also i like the whole tv look to it, with the no singal and av text boxes and the composite picture effect is good, it feels realistic from a console using av but still worn down, its better than alot of these videos that just find some horrible green screen vhs effect on youtube and call it a day.
and its refereshing to see it end on a happy ending instead of a red flashing screen saying "FATAL ERROR" or something
good video allround
This Kill Screen video should be the best one I have seen because no jumpscare, looks real, good ending, actually not boring
I am not into killscreens but these ones are very good! I also love the subtitles.
this is very cool! i usually see killscreens that are lazy, kinemaster watermark, arial font no effects. this is the first good one i've seen (of course it's unrealistic, if it was real they probably wouldn't make it so creepy lol)
EDIT: The recovery system check is literally just ripped straight out of windows 10.... haha, Still cool!
i think that "creepiness" nowadays is one of the fundamentals of fake-killscreens.
anyway, ty, i appreciate it!
@@skexofiner.nsystemz defo enjoyed watching it!
this is the best ps2 corruption thing ever
THIS is a killscreen. Excellent job
I still like to come back to this video sometimes mostly because it's well-produced, realistic, well-thought out and sometimes scary (despite the fact that it doesn't feel like it's trying to, for me at least.)
There are other PS2 killscreens but most of them (including pap) are basically unrealistic compared to this one.
heres a fun fact, originally i planned to start working on this during the same time as my N64 kill screen from feb '21.
there was also a deleted scene which was the RSOD completely glitched out (using the A/V output effect, not RTC because it didn't work for me), but i think you might know the reason why i decided to not add that part
Would love to see it.
yeah i see what you mean by the whole "recovery mode" segment, it just feels different looking back at it now
i do miss producing kill screen videos but it'll take a pretty while to regain my interest in this trend like how I discovered it back in 2019
Finally a proper kill screen video. Unlike others. No horror elements, actually look like it really happens and ends with the console being fixed.
practically the kids' killscreens:
"therer has benn erorr shut ur device"
*doesn't do it*
"therer has benn bigger erorr shut ur device"
*doesn't do it*
"errorr to big enter ercoverye moed"
*enters recovery*
after 1 millisecond of scan...
"FATAL ERRor! this thing is bricked go touch grass"
and then flash red screen
thats all
This is very great!
While your video has no logo, accurate fonts, no fatal error at the end, and its normal after the automatic repair!:D
3: 「Captions」 - This makes the video more interesting!
4: 「Rating」 I would give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) to this video!
okay miku
The most underrated killscreen I've ever seen. Why doesn't this have more views?
yeah i agree
thankfully though it kinda helped with the already-dying state of my channel
@@skexofiner.nsystemz didn't think you'd reply here lol, anyways what's up? you haven't uploaded much in a while

one of the best killscreens i've ever seen!!! you have my whole respect, and just gained a sub!
thanks although i don't really enjoy killscreens anymore
This kill screen is pretty authentic and could have been a real set if the PS2 treated itself more like an OS. Great work.
They actually released linux for the PS2
This is a work of art. This is the only great killscreen i've seen (also the only one i've seen in my life). Great job.
*moving console to a different area and rethinks life decisions*
Caught me off guard
I'm getting a BIOS corruptions vibe from this in the best way possible, bravo
yeah some of the parts look very familiar
also hey scares fan less goo
3:21 was just 1 layer of the ps2 startup😂😂😂
If I ever got this as a kid I would've been scared as hell. Lmaooo Nice job.
This is the kill screen ever
Yea it's the most kill screen ever!
Definitely the most kill screen ever
I approve this killscreen. It looks realistic and Recovery mode actually resolved the issue!
2 things
1. really awesome kill screen, looks very realistic.
2. based devil may cry saves
This feels like something I would actually see if my PS2 ever malfunctions. Everything about it is amazing and accurate to how it would look on console.
thanks lol, I still remember when this video exploded in february of 2023 which was not what i expected
@@skexofiner.nsystemzyeah, that’s some good editing skills. It really stands out to those other videos.
this was something that had been stuck on me for a little while now, but i figured i should talk about the unofficial kill-screen genre, how i had stumbled upon it, and where i think it's heading nowadays.
Congrats on this masterpiece getting 400K views, much better than all the generic garbage kill screens there is now.

MvC 2 and NFS underground were one of the first games i've ever played, i still remember getting them and my first PS2 in christmas of 2003!
May i ask another question? What fonts you using and is it match for PS2 menu bios?
@@CodEmTee the font I used is "helvetica" as it was the closest i could get.
Many thanks, you've earned a sub from me for a quality contents.
Out of all of the kill screens I've seen, this one takes the cake, instead of having the system insulting the heck and yelling at you before it reaches 0 HP and become history, this kill screen actually tells that there's something wrong with the console and helps solving the problem so that the PS2 can start working again
Also, you're cool for having Need For Speed Carbon and Gran Turismo 4

They all have one thing in common....
*The creator will always push the piece of tech to its absolute limits, no matter how many warnings come up.*
‘Oh? It says the console is seriously malfunctioning and may be a fire hazard if allowed to be on for any longer? *Well let’s just turn it off and on again to fix it* ‘

Best one i've seen so far lmao
most of them followed like a 3 step process, "Your system is malfunction please turn it off" "You didn't turn it off!! Please turn it off!!!" "critical error!!!!"
still some technical inaccuracies (bios performance?) but at least it's not basic garbage
Take notes kids, this is how you make a kill screen.

I always play this before I go to sleep
Absolute masterpiece
This is a realistic kill screen and there are no jumpscares
This is the best "console killscreen" I have ever seen, it's just perfect!
this is the first kill screen video ive seen where the console actually works at the end
Love how the PS2's screen gradually gets more distorted with it's blended colours and interlacing, adds to the entire thing honestly.
that was just an inner detail i put in
i love the shitty bicubic filters all tvs insist on doing to analog video, its a nice touch
holy fuck its a kill screen that is made with quality in mind, has no dumbass jumpscares and is successful! (for once)
it really looks like something you'd legit see on a ps2, good job man
yeah this video unexpectedly took off in february 2023 which is what i was not actually expecting to happen, prior to that event it had like around ~30k views
@@skexofiner.nsystemz and it took off for a good reason - you didn't make some crappy video that has cartoon characters that arent related with the system or shitty jumpscares that no software developer will add or barely even trying - you put in effort and time in order to produce something that stands out. something that is made with quality and love.
THIS IS PERFECTION I LOVE IT!
Pretty good, though a corrupted BIOS would render the system a paperweight immediately.

UNBELIEVABLE! I DIDN'T FIND A SINGLE GRAMMATICAL ERROR! Dude, congrats.
This is cool! Turn on subtitiles for more exiprence
Fun fact about the PS2: a type of “kill screen” in the actual ps2 is if the swirly dots in the bios stop spinning. This is because the swirly dots are spinning because of the CMOS battery, and when the battery dies, the dots stop because the dots spin based on the CMOS battery working, so it is quite literally a result of the battery breaking visibly without looking inside the hardware
that happened to me once, but hell I actually knew this and it isn't so hard to repair.
Experienced a genuine "kill screen"? (Or I suppose, what would be as close to such a thing as one could expect)
Repaired my original 77001 with a new power button/lid switch assembly (yeah I already had a used 79001 at this point but hey it was my original I got new back in 07 or so)
Green light was a good sign, started the boot sequence and.. fully froze within 5 seconds of reaching the main menu.
Thing sat for about 3-4 years at that stage, didn't like being brought back apparently lol.
the perfect killscreen
What??? This is not even a real kill screen??? No way. Man, this edit is cool as hell. It looks so real, so i belived in this. Even when I have a real ps2
lol
Idk why but ps2 loading screen and stuff gives me chills
Good ending are always good to watch instead of watching our consoles dying
yeah, and it just screws me up about "good" endings being underlooked and neglected by this community
this is looks so good and interesting, you were kicking it
The first one with just the buttons showing on screen is caused by the hardware acceleration being too fast, because I did this on an emulator and it showed that result.
I like that it has real corruption as apart of it, it’s a nice detail
Very interesting stuff. I downloaded PCSX2 around last night, started messing with the settings and got the same thing.
Maybe it's because of presets being set to "Mostly harmful."
This was one of the first ones I ever saw.
Im so spoiled by this one that almost all the other ones on youtube feel.. So bad
6:43 (w/captions) >_:say "please" 9000t
The captions make this video more alive and interesting
what gets my is that those "Kill Screens" if they actually happen they would most likely be informative of how to manage the error and stuff, sure it can be scary because of the ambience or the fear of losing the console itself, but when kids try to force the horror thing it really ruins it and becomes boring y'know. But this one manages to have an interesting concept
ngl this was the good one i've seen. It does look like an actual error but still, it really is impressive.
Yo this looks so realistic
