While continuing watching your videos....Every passing day I am finding my Bio-/Pharmaceutical background is blurring and finding myself standing even closer with flexing musical bone and itching to have electronic music workbench.... Thanks to you buddy 😁🙏
If you're drawing anything more complicated than a handful of circles, it might be easier to use a vector drawing tool like Affinity and exporting it to svg and then kicad with svg2shenzhen / gerbolyze.
Indeed. I'll make a video about this as well. I like the constraints of KiCad though. I don't think I'd come with this design on a more full-featured illustration program. The constraints inspire the design.
A stunning visual design! I definitely want to see the SVG / vector drawing process explained in this level of detail. We obviously also need videos on how to get panels to glow beautifully like a Qu-bit Nautalis does!
Ive just discovered your channel. I love what you are doing. I'm struggling to find any clear source to learn synth DIY with Eurorack standards right now. Watch this channel grow big!
Thanks for this, and for doing up the footprints! I've made a few Eurorack module panels in Kicad, mostly by using the libraries and footprints that 4ms put out, but having knob sizes and such available this way is terrific.
PCB boards are transparent, essentially. Each side of the board gets a copper layer (F.Cu and B.Cu) and a solder mask layer (F.Mask and B.Mask). If you leave areas with no copper or mask, on both sides, you’ll get a transparent area. Hope this helps. Join our Discord community to share your result :) I’m curious what you’re working on.
Hello, Oli here from germany. Recently me bought the lovely machine. Now I try to put it in an enclosure. Found a nice box. The problem is to mark the drill holes. Is there a possibility to get the x, y coordinates in mm or cm of the drill holes? Or do you have an other idea how to mark the holes exactly. Measuring the coordinates from the machine by myself seems to be a little bit to prone to errors for me. Thanks a lot.

Interesting you say. I did some designs in illustrator as well. You can get much more detail there. However, there’s something really nice in working with the limitations of a CAD program. It makes you think differently. In illustrator I would make something completely different.
hi there, total newbie in using kicad here... i've tried to follow your instructions for building my own front panel... just a simple one: a few holes and words here and there. for words a used the text function on the front copper layer because you said to add graphics there... since i saw there was text in your design as well, i assumed that you "wrote" those words on the front copper side (using the text function) as you did for circles and lines... i was hoping the soldering mask wouldn't cover the text (as in your design), but i was wrong... how can i make my writings cut through the soldering mask just like in your design?
perfect! next time i’ll try to double up the text perfecly aligned on both the soldering mask and the front copper layer… thank you very much for your tips and your super prompt reply! :) cheers!
Wow! It was never easier to develop and built your own special synth. Thanks to Daisy, Plugdata and Synthux.
Indeed! It’s the evolution from eurorack for music tech nerds :)

Thanks so much, Sanjeev! It means a lot.

Yea, definitely! Will make more videos on the topic. Thanks, Dan.
Can’t express how much I appreciate the work of this channel. Thank you!!
That means a lot. Thanks!
I haven't had a chance to watch the video yet, but thanks for making it! I'm going to refer to this next time I release a panel.
Thanks, Chris! Good luck with Wiggler. Love your work.

Yea, we need more footprint libraries for synth interfaces. Happy you found this useful ❤️
Excellent work Roey and a beautiful design!
Thanks ❤️
Excellent overview , this is so inspiring 👾

@@SynthuxAcademy will do .
Thank you for this tutorial, it looks like a Simple task! 😉
Yea, it's pretty straightforward :) good luck!
Thank you for this great channel! How do you exactly make a transparent section on the panel in kicad so the leds can shine through the panel? Cheers

That´s a very nice design, although drawing this in Illustrator first would probably save some time..

I was struggling with this as well :) you need to have the text on both the mask and copper layers.
with “Borge” you meant “both”, right? cheers!
Whoops 😬 yes.
