This is a very capable neo retro sample based workstation. The Polyend Tracker reminds me of my Amiga 2000 which was 16 Bit Studio Monster. Anyway, it's full circle for this still active 90s UK Jungle Producer, back to Rosebud. We produced many, many great Dubplates using Octamed Soundstudio. Honestly my favourite period of Producing was using Trackers for easy manipulation of samples and MIDI. I'm really surprised how good the PT can sound, very clean and full when at 16 Bit. Funny thing is that to many people the PT is a gimmick, perhaps a toy but this is how it began for many UK underground genres back in the 90s. Not everybody could afford the Atari Falcon running Steinberg/Cubase with a paper round. The Amiga 500,600 and 1200 running Trackers helped to shape the underground UK Jungle, Drum & Bass scene from the fringes to main stage. I owe a 30 year career as a underground Producer to the Tracker work flow. Roll those beats fam. ♥️❤️♥️

More power to you guys who can make music with a digital abacus😂. I have tried. I need either a DAW or a traditional sequencer or a 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other mix of the two.
Make a pattern, hit Rec, select what you want to Resample, hit Shift and select Render Selection (Save). Load the Sample into an empty slot et voila...Resampling. So now you have the individual samples say on pattern #1, and the whole mix-sample on pattern #2. Go to Perform, you can select different patterns and tracks, select the effect, set the amounts for the effects (Rec must be on) and hit the 8 black unlabled buttons to activate and deactivate the effect. This machine is very fun and easy to use, but remember : there is a limit of 99 samples, and 99 projects within a map on the sd-card. But you can make maps within a map when you put the sd-card in your computer when putting your samples from the computer onto the SD-card, or dragging the songs into Ableton Live. :)
I was very surprised at how slim this device is when you unboxed it and this fill function looks like it is very productive. It looks like a fun box to work on!
I really like the look of trackers. I'm waiting on the m8 to go back up for pre order. Very tempted to pick up a 2nd hand polyend in the meantime though.
Great vid mate, good to see the differences between the polyend compared to the M8. You need to try to get hold of a M8 for review to see how you like the two styles. 👍
Instead of filling on every single step to make sure you cover all the notes, you can also have it fill only on those steps with notes. Depending on which effects you are sequencing and on how long a sample your instrument is, that can make a big difference in how the sound comes out.
Glad you like your tracker! Not for me though 😐 I really need to play live my patterns in order to find the workflow exciting, this looks more like programming to me than making music 😅 Respect to those who had to use trackers, back in the day, to make the music for our fave video games!
There’s a lot of reasons for wanting this . but if you have to ask I am almost certain this is not the device for you. Reason number one is it is just fun to make music on this. If your not having fun you probably are not gonna want to make music. Being better the a computer is just subjective.

@@kh485 I don't come from traditional trackers, so I can't compare the Polyend version to them (apparently they have more tracks, which would be fun). I find the workflow uses a lot of the FL Studio skills I already have and makes it tactile in a way that feels smoother and simpler than a computer/midi controller combination. I haven't had it very long and I already do more complex stuff than I ever felt compelled to do on FL Studio, which is theoretically much more powerful (and faster, too). Faders or knobs would be cool, but even without that, the layout and button setup makes it really easy to move around and change stuff. When you combine the various ins and outs it has, the fact you can basically power it with a cheap USB battery pack, and the small size, it's a really attractive compact package - especially if you find one for a bargain. It's just a great mix of DAW capabilities and DAWless vibe. It's simultaneously streamlined and flexible.

Computer will be more powerful but also more boring and tedious
