I went on a severe mock fasting diet for two reasons: to reduce the sugar in my system aiding the killing of cancer cells and reducing the material going through my system making bowel movements less painful. Fortunately I had some weight to lose and did so at a rate of 1/2 pound per day for several weeks. My clothes were falling off me but it was worth the effort.

WOW! Thank you for this. I had early stage anal cancer which was removed with surgery. No chemo was necessary. I've gone for 3 yearly follow up pap smear tests and have gotten very lax. I haven't had a pap in over 5 years. This has made me realize I need to go back and start getting regular Pap smears once more. Xander, Sorry for the delay...not on here much. The most important thing to do is see your Dr. You need a good colorectal surgeon. Do not wait. The sooner you catch anything the better. I waited a few years too long and it was a close call. There was a reaccurance. I now get checked every 3 months visually and once a year under general anesthesia. If you are hiv poz it's VERY important you get a handle on this. Good luck.

What a great man! I totally relate to your pain. I had prostate cancer and the radiation completely cooked and destroyed my bladder, prostate and part of my large intestines. Although I am a woman, almost 60 yrs old, I did feel very much for your male suffering from all the treatment (especially the radiation). At this point, I am waiting to hear the news. My general practitioner has braced me. I've had cancer before (colon). I was "gifted" with an STD 4 years ago, HSV-2 (even tho he and I had the "safe sex/health talk." ) And later told, he had had over 100 partners..... I have HPV. So, with those markers, I await the news. Thank you for your realistic and brave narrative. Bless you, sweetie (I can say that bc I'm old enough to be your mom). Glad things are back to normal. Hope you continue to be healthy and enjoy life. Also - to add to what mom said, people will not only be silent when hearing your news, they will often say idiot things. Do not be offended. They are afraid and embarrassed. It is more of a reflection on them than it is you (the anal cancer patient). I'll try to remember all these good things in future. Again, thanks.
David, thank you for sharing your personal story. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2000. As men, it is very difficult to approach doctors with embarrassing symptoms, but I realized with this experience is that one must be in tuned with their bodies and not be ashamed with any symptoms. (I had rectal bleeding). Fortunately, the cancer was caught early (stage 1) and the only thing needed was surgery, no other treatment. Other than a large scar on my abdomen, I have nothing else to complain about. I have married the man of my dreams in April (after being with him for 12 years) and my life is now better than I could ever imagine!!! I went through anal cancer seven years ago - all clear now but still suffering repercussions. I was blessed with wonderful doctors, nurses and techs. The blistering from radiation far outweighed the effects of chemo. I remember being in my bathroom on a Friday night after a week of in-hospital chemo and daily radiation, applying pain-dulling gel to my groin and gently padding it with gauze wadding and thinking, "This is NOT what I should be doing on a Friday night!!"... Hideous disease.

Thank you David for sharing your story. I too at 67 yo was diagnosed with anal cancer and went through treatments similar to yours. The suffering you detailed I recognize. Big difference now in 2022-23 the treatments are a little different and fortunately the team of doctors I had in Southern California warned me about everything and have been through while being super supportive. I write this for anyone else who may have or be diagnosed with this type of cancer. One thing you expressed is so essential and that is to resolve yourself to the treatment and put 100% of ones energy into the cure. Anything less is self torture beyond the pain and recovery of this very difficult affected area of the body.
@@evefairy7740 I was not and had no symptoms. It was found at stage 1. But since and I do feel much better, thank you, I was just given a cortisone cream as my stools are getting closer to normal there is some abrasion at times. So it helps but I added a few prunes at night after dinner to soften my stool and all is running smoothly again. On a slightly different note is my changed energy level. I will never be the same but I'm grateful for the outlook and to date check ups all being positive. My best to you and whatever you're going through.

I want to say thank you because you tell it like it is, but honestly, I am now depressed. My husband just got diagnosed with anal cancer and would give up after round one, from what I am hearing you say. Glad your will to live is stronger than cancer. Thank you David. You nailed it. I don’t do research before heading into anything medical from picking up a new prescription to finding out I had anal cancer. I didn’t even know about anal cancer. I only knew about colon cancer. I have a few medical people around me to help me if I need info. I don’t do the research because I’d get the possible side effects a new script put on the information page or in the instance of anal cancer I got enough info from the drs, my sister (a nurse ) and a friend whose boyfriend just got this to help me on what to buy, etc. Your video is helping me to understand my lack of energy still. I think I should be fully operational and I can barely walk my dogs an hour in the morning and do 1 hr of work around the house. I finished the treatment plan 3 weeks ago which was the radiation/chemo combination similar to yours. So thank you for doing this video and hope you’re feeling fabulous.
Hi David. Your sad story looks a lot like mine. I was operated and had treatments of chimio and radio for few weeks in 2016 in Canada. Unfortunately, the saddest thing about it, I cannot travel anymore because I need to go the bathroom urgently and many times a day. Anyway, I still feel alive and enjoy life more and more every day! Thanks for sharing. My anarectal cancer should have been diagnosed earlier, but I was ignored made to wait, made to think it was hemeroids. RAD & Chemo was extreme. As you experienced nothing, nothing, at all wss told to me including the actual diagnosis. Was told I had a rare cancer. I thought I had bowel cancer. Wasnt told for 2 months it was anarectal cancer. Bowel movements were like passing broken glass whilst screaming, for months. As soon as RAD Chemo was finished was ignored in the public system. Unlike you I thank Google Y T, but time taken in research takes up a lot. Sick of people telling me I look well & expecting me to be totally ok as soon as 30 sessions of RAD over. Ligaments in my legs have been affected, likely fibrisitis, as was genital re fibrosis. Had to find a lot of variety of short exercises I can do. Exhaustion is problematic when you live alone & family are at a distance. Lucky I have an ability to stay (relatively) calm. The RAD did not reduce as much as expected. So now I am left out on my own to try figure diet, vitamins excercise out. I had a new GP but he keeps refering me back to the cancer clinic, who within 8+months of diagnosis give me appointments 6 months apart. Was told Surgery is only after RAD Chemo if didnt work. is drastic & v v v risky removing rectum & anus & leaving bag. Thankfully no surgery. Am ok at the moment. Booked a private specialist at start but was told I didnt need to as a team was behind me. The team was uninformative, uninterested, & into business success, except luckily for a couple of doctors. Was hospitalized with blood transfusions. Advise people take witnesses, & quietly get a second opinion. Would have bern more prepared if was given correct diagnosis during the two months, so I could get shopping, food prep, properly organised. Realms of loo paper, boxes of wet wipes, & tissues, ice water by the bedside for boiling hot genitals, witch hazel, paw paw ointment, packets of stand by soup. Anyway as I am older age 74 at diagnosis I felt strong enough to deal with it well, even alone, as I am level headed. Im glad you had all the right support, & here you are years later. Hope life is good to you.
What a brave and frank video. Thank you for sharing. I went through treatment for anal cancer in 2013. My experience was more positive than yours. Most of the tumour was surgically removed and then I had radiotherapy to zap the remainder. This avoided the sphincter being cut and the resulting colostomy bag. It has taken 18 months to get over the treatment - though there are still some minor issues going on and yes like you I have erectile dysfunction. That said, so far there is every indication that the treatment has been a success. Anal cancer is the last big taboo cancer. So little is known and as you say it could so easily be avoided with a simple vaccination. Thank you again for doing your bit to educate people. I wish you the very best.

I had heard about the burning it causes and when the going gets tough I tend to ignore everything and stay reclusive . Thank you for your honesty, and humor. In 2007 I had stage 1 non HPV related anal/rectal cancer. I'm considered cancer free now, seven years on, but there isn't one day that I don't think about cancer, mainly because of my fear of coming down with cancer again. Which is a legit fear. But even more upsetting, are the side effects of treatment. I developed Erectile Dysfunction about 6 mos after treatment. Like you, treatment consisted of surgery, then 30 days co-combative treatment of radiation, and chemo. My father had died of a gastrointestinal cancer several years before, so the threat of death was too close for comfort to me, I saw no other recourse but to get rid of it all as quickly as I could, and fought the fight for my life. I started treatment the week of 50th birthday. Happy Birthday!!! Shortly after treatment I lost my job, a week before I was to return to work. Needless to say, I became profoundly depressed, or at least my regular depression, became major, and had a 5 year struggle out of it. Just as I was coming out of my depression, my partner of 8 years decided to leave the relationship. I plummeted back into a depression, with which I'm now dealing. I too was left thinking that my sex life, and indeed my life, had come to an end. I just accepted I was never to have sex again; further who would want damaged goods? I shut down. I searched for help, advice, comradery, anything that would make me feel as if I'm not alone, the only person, besides, as you mentioned, Farah Fawcett, other than she with whom I can share in this experience. There's virtually nothing out there about anal/rectal cancers. So thank you again for your video...you've given me hope. I recently decided to go under treatment for my ED, as that has been the lingering factor in my feelings of being "damaged goods". I am going for a consult for a penile implant. I've tried the pills, pump, all sorts of cock rings, watermelon, which along with other types of foods, supposedly have qualities that can cure ED, I've tried them all...and got a whole lot of NADA! Penile implants have a permanent, and highly successful solution to ED. So I'm done with the watermelons, and am going for the fix! PI's may not be for everyone, but I'm convinced it's the way for me. For those men who are experiencing ED, and have not had success with any other treatment, you should look into implants. Most insurances pay for the treatment..so why not? Forgive my rant, but I think finding your video has been a God send to me. Thx for your story, can't thank you enough. Keep up your health.

I to am burnt blistered swollen sore cannot get comfortable on morphine for pain. But it is good to know that the side effects do not last long. I feel like i am on the scrapheap. I too did not tell my partner for 10 months as I thought it was plies and did what anything to interfere with our life but it has and big time. Now I feel like his sister. He is a wonderful man who has looked after me wonderfully and been there for me every step of the way. But like you i am angry and depressed. Having had anal cancer, myself, I wish David well. I can only but empathise about the side effects though I feel in the UK I was much better informed, knowing that sexual function was potentially a casualty. My impotency seems to be permanent because having a large tumour I had radical radiotherapy to avoid a stoma. The pain from radiotherapy burns was the most awful thing I have ever experienced. My female oncologist laughed and said she would dine out on my comment about impotency that I was freed from "the tyranny of the penis". I was offered referral to an erectile dysfunction clinic but declined. David's final comment that a simple vaccine was apposite - anal cancer is caused by HPV the same virus that causes cervical cancer. I watched this again after 2 years - the memory of the pain still makes me weep. I still laugh though too when I recall the day of my diagnostic colonoscopy when I and several others had that procedure - nurses would come in and chat results through with patients, sending them on their way. When it came to my turn, doctor and nurse came in and asked to have a word with me - on everyone else's face it was written -he's getting the bad news, thank goodness not me. It just made me laugh. Finally I ended up hospitalised with neutropenic sepsis - again I smiled to myself when I saw other regular radiotherapy patients whilst I was being wheeled in (which I had never seen before) with the look on their faces - he ain't going to make it. The staff were so kind and caring at Colchester Hospital's radiotherapy unit.

Thank you for sharing your difficult story. I am so thankful we have the HPV vaccine nowadays even with its higher than normal risk of side effects. Although it only protects against 70-80% of anal cancers, and I think it might make us more susceptible to the other oncogenic HPV types, I am so glad I got it as at least it will cut my risk in some sort of way. I might decide to get anal paps as I age, but the consensus amongst medical professionals is not clear, and some worry it could lead to the unnecessary picking up of lesions which would never have developed into cancer. HPV is just such a difficult issue to navigate.

David, I use Balneol lotion for peri-anal cleansing, after every bowel movement. It is expensive at the drug store, no prescription needed---but it is well worth it. SOOO soothing, used on a bit of toilet paper. While I have not had cancer, I am a 66 year old female, and I have suffered with Ulcerative Colitis, an auto-immune disease, since I was thirty. UC and Crohn's Colitis can also cause a sore and inflamed anal area. My doctor told me about Balneol lotion many years ago, and I'm so thankful that he did. (Some stores now carry a generic for Balneol, which can save you some money). Your salt-water cleansing suggestion also sounds effective, but you may find the cleansing with a little lotion to be simpler. It comes in a small bottle, so you can take it with you, in case you need to have a bowel movement away from home.
I also greatly recommand to get a small bidet to fix to your toilet. It was a life saver for me. Less toilet paper, no more irritation, no more pain! Way to go!

I have just finished treatment for rectal cancer. Wet toilet paper was my solution, too! No one told me, but God it made a difference. Also, in addition to other pain meds, Valium or something like it made a huge difference for me. Not a big dose, just enough to take the bite off the vaginal and rectal pain.

My party pants closed dang it. I was diagnosed 2017. The only pain relief was living in the bathtub for 10 hours or more. Long term …..rash up very easy so my best friend Triple Paste diaper rash cream. Keep Imodium handy and I take Metamucil 5 caps daily to bulk. Long road trips, airport I diaper up. I went on a severe mock fasting diet for two reasons: to reduce the sugar in my system aiding the killing of cancer cells and reducing the material going through my system making bowel movements less painful. Fortunately I had some weight to lose and did so at a rate of 1/2 pound per day for several weeks. My clothes were falling off me but it was worth the effort.

WOW! Thank you for this. I had early stage anal cancer which was removed with surgery. No chemo was necessary. I've gone for 3 yearly follow up pap smear tests and have gotten very lax. I haven't had a pap in over 5 years. This has made me realize I need to go back and start getting regular Pap smears once more. God bless you and thank you for the help and advice and for sharing your journey. Anyone who watches this will be helped immensely .
Xander, Sorry for the delay...not on here much. The most important thing to do is see your Dr. You need a good colorectal surgeon. Do not wait. The sooner you catch anything the better. I waited a few years too long and it was a close call. There was a reaccurance. I now get checked every 3 months visually and once a year under general anesthesia. If you are hiv poz it's VERY important you get a handle on this. Good luck.

Although I am a woman, almost 60 yrs old, I did feel very much for your male suffering from all the treatment (especially the radiation). At this point, I am waiting to hear the news. My general practitioner has braced me. I've had cancer before (colon). I was "gifted" with an STD 4 years ago, HSV-2 (even tho he and I had the "safe sex/health talk." ) And later told, he had had over 100 partners..... I have HPV. So, with those markers, I await the news. Thank you for your realistic and brave narrative. Bless you, sweetie (I can say that bc I'm old enough to be your mom). Glad things are back to normal. Hope you continue to be healthy and enjoy life. Also - to add to what mom said, people will not only be silent when hearing your news, they will often say idiot things. Do not be offended. David, thank you for sharing your personal story. I was diagnosed with rectal cancer in 2000. As men, it is very difficult to approach doctors with embarrassing symptoms, but I realized with this experience is that one must be in tuned with their bodies and not be ashamed with any symptoms. (I had rectal bleeding). Fortunately, the cancer was caught early (stage 1) and the only thing needed was surgery, no other treatment. Other than a large scar on my abdomen, I have nothing else to complain about. I have married the man of my dreams in April (after being with him for 12 years) and my life is now better than I could ever imagine!!! I went through anal cancer seven years ago - all clear now but still suffering repercussions. I was blessed with wonderful doctors, nurses and techs. The blistering from radiation far outweighed the effects of chemo. I remember being in my bathroom on a Friday night after a week of in-hospital chemo and daily radiation, applying pain-dulling gel to my groin and gently padding it with gauze wadding and thinking, "This is NOT what I should be doing on a Friday night!!"... Hideous disease.

Thank you David for sharing your story. I too at 67 yo was diagnosed with anal cancer and went through treatments similar to yours. The suffering you detailed I recognize. Big difference now in 2022-23 the treatments are a little different and fortunately the team of doctors I had in Southern California warned me about everything and have been through while being super supportive.
I write this for anyone else who may have or be diagnosed with this type of cancer. One thing you expressed is so essential and that is to resolve yourself to the treatment and put 100% of ones energy into the cure. Anything less is self torture beyond the pain and recovery of this very difficult affected area of the body.

@@evefairy7740 I was not and had no symptoms. It was found at stage 1. But since and I do feel much better, thank you, I was just given a cortisone cream as my stools are getting closer to normal there is some abrasion at times. So it helps but I added a few prunes at night after dinner to soften my stool and all is running smoothly again. On a slightly different note is my changed energy level. I will never be the same but I'm grateful for the outlook and to date check ups all being positive. My best to you and whatever you're going through.

Thank you David. You nailed it. I don’t do research before heading into anything medical from picking up a new prescription to finding out I had anal cancer. I didn’t even know about anal cancer. I only knew about colon cancer. I have a few medical people around me to help me if I need info. I don’t do the research because I’d get the possible side effects a new script put on the information page or in the instance of anal cancer I got enough info from the drs, my sister (a nurse ) and a friend whose boyfriend just got this to help me on what to buy, etc. Your video is helping me to understand my lack of energy still. I think I should be fully operational and I can barely walk my dogs an hour in the morning and do 1 hr of work around the house. I finished the treatment plan 3 weeks ago which was the radiation/chemo combination similar to yours. So thank you for doing this video and hope you’re feeling fabulous.

Unfortunately, the saddest thing about it, I cannot travel anymore because I need to go the bathroom urgently and many times a day. Anyway, I still feel alive and enjoy life more and more every day! Thanks for sharing. My anarectal cancer should have been diagnosed earlier, but I was ignored made to wait, made to think it was hemeroids. RAD & Chemo was extreme. As you experienced nothing, nothing, at all wss told to me including the actual diagnosis. Was told I had a rare cancer. I thought I had bowel cancer. Wasnt told for 2 months it was anarectal cancer. Bowel movements were like passing broken glass whilst screaming, for months. As soon as RAD Chemo was finished was ignored in the public system. Unlike you I thank Google Y T, but time taken in research takes up a lot. Sick of people telling me I look well & expecting me to be totally ok as soon as 30 sessions of RAD over. Ligaments in my legs have been affected, likely fibrisitis, as was genital re fibrosis. Had to find a lot of variety of short exercises I can do. Exhaustion is problematic when you live alone & family are at a distance. Lucky I have an ability to stay (relatively) calm. The RAD did not reduce as much as expected. So now I am left out on my own to try figure diet, vitamins excercise out. I had a new GP but he keeps refering me back to the cancer clinic, who within 8+months of diagnosis give me appointments 6 months apart. Was told Surgery is only after RAD Chemo if didnt work. is drastic & v v v risky removing rectum & anus & leaving bag. Thankfully no surgery. Am ok at the moment. Booked a private specialist at start but was told I didnt need to as a team was behind me. The team was uninformative, uninterested, & into business success, except luckily for a couple of doctors. Was hospitalized with blood transfusions. Advise people take witnesses, & quietly get a second opinion. Would have bern more prepared if was given correct diagnosis during the two months, so I could get shopping, food prep, properly organised. Realms of loo paper, boxes of wet wipes, & tissues, ice water by the bedside for boiling hot genitals, witch hazel, paw paw ointment, packets of stand by soup. Anyway as I am older age 74 at diagnosis I felt strong enough to deal with it well, even alone, as I am level headed. Im glad you had all the right support, & here you are years later. Hope life is good to you.

What a brave and frank video. Thank you for sharing. I went through treatment for anal cancer in 2013. My experience was more positive than yours. Most of the tumour was surgically removed and then I had radiotherapy to zap the remainder. This avoided the sphincter being cut and the resulting colostomy bag. It has taken 18 months to get over the treatment - though there are still some minor issues going on and yes like you I have erectile dysfunction. That said, so far there is every indication that the treatment has been a success. Anal cancer is the last big taboo cancer. So little is known and as you say it could so easily be avoided with a simple vaccination. Thank you again for doing your bit to educate people. I wish you the very best.

I was under two hospitals - one near where I live called Homerton General Hospital (London) where my oncologist Mr Wijeyekoon was based but I had to go to Barts Hopsital in central London for my radiotherapy.

I was recently diagnosed with anal cancer and will be seeing a oncologist next week , I am terrified about the radiation treatment . I had heard about the burning it causes and when the going gets tough I tend to ignore everything and stay reclusive . Thank you for your honesty, and humor. In 2007 I had stage 1 non HPV related anal/rectal cancer. I'm considered cancer free now, seven years on, but there isn't one day that I don't think about cancer, mainly because of my fear of coming down with cancer again. Which is a legit fear.
But even more upsetting, are the side effects of treatment. I developed Erectile Dysfunction about 6 mos after treatment. Like you, treatment consisted of surgery, then 30 days co-combative treatment of radiation, and chemo. My father had died of a gastrointestinal cancer several years before, so the threat of death was too close for comfort to me, I saw no other recourse but to get rid of it all as quickly as I could, and fought the fight for my life. I started treatment the week of 50th birthday. Happy Birthday!!!
Shortly after treatment I lost my job, a week before I was to return to work. Needless to say, I became profoundly depressed, or at least my regular depression, became major, and had a 5 year struggle out of it. Just as I was coming out of my depression, my partner of 8 years decided to leave the relationship. I plummeted back into a depression, with which I'm now dealing. I too was left thinking that my sex life, and indeed my life, had come to an end. I just accepted I was never to have sex again; further who would want damaged goods? I shut down.
I searched for help, advice, comradery, anything that would make me feel as if I'm not alone, the only person, besides, as you mentioned, Farah Fawcett, other than she with whom I can share in this experience. There's virtually nothing out there about anal/rectal cancers. So thank you again for your video...you've given me hope. I recently decided to go under treatment for my ED, as that has been the lingering factor in my feelings of being "damaged goods".
I am going for a consult for a penile implant. I've tried the pills, pump, all sorts of cock rings, watermelon, which along with other types of foods, supposedly have qualities that can cure ED, I've tried them all...and got a whole lot of NADA! Penile implants have a permanent, and highly successful solution to ED. So I'm done with the watermelons, and am going for the fix! PI's may not be for everyone, but I'm convinced it's the way for me. For those men who are experiencing ED, and have not had success with any other treatment, you should look into implants. Most insurances pay for the treatment..so why not?

I to am burnt blistered swollen sore cannot get comfortable on morphine for pain. But it is good to know that the side effects do not last long. I feel like i am on the scrapheap. I too did not tell my partner for 10 months as I thought it was plies and did what anything to interfere with our life but it has and big time. Now I feel like his sister. He is a wonderful man who has looked after me wonderfully and been there for me every step of the way. But like you i am angry and depressed. Having had anal cancer, myself, I wish David well. I can only but empathise about the side effects though I feel in the UK I was much better informed, knowing that sexual function was potentially a casualty. My impotency seems to be permanent because having a large tumour I had radical radiotherapy to avoid a stoma. The pain from radiotherapy burns was the most awful thing I have ever experienced. My female oncologist laughed and said she would dine out on my comment about impotency that I was freed from "the tyranny of the penis". I was offered referral to an erectile dysfunction clinic but declined. David's final comment that a simple vaccine was apposite - anal cancer is caused by HPV the same virus that causes cervical cancer.
I watched this again after 2 years - the memory of the pain still makes me weep. I still laugh though too when I recall the day of my diagnostic colonoscopy when I and several others had that procedure - nurses would come in and chat results through with patients, sending them on their way. When it came to my turn, doctor and nurse came in and asked to have a word with me - on everyone else's face it was written -he's getting the bad news, thank goodness not me. It just made me laugh. Finally I ended up hospitalised with neutropenic sepsis - again I smiled to myself when I saw other regular radiotherapy patients whilst I was being wheeled in (which I had never seen before) with the look on their faces - he ain't going to make it. The staff were so kind and caring at Colchester Hospital's radiotherapy unit.

I haven’t engaged in anal sex in nine years and now diagnosed with this. Sex has been a disgusting concept for almost seven years. There’s a reason why traditional values hold monogamy in such high esteem. Being active isn’t worth it. None of those moments are memorable today and I’d give anything to have my body back to myself.

Thank you for sharing your difficult story. I am so thankful we have the HPV vaccine nowadays even with its higher than normal risk of side effects. Although it only protects against 70-80% of anal cancers, and I think it might make us more susceptible to the other oncogenic HPV types, I am so glad I got it as at least it will cut my risk in some sort of way. I might decide to get anal paps as I age, but the consensus amongst medical professionals is not clear, and some worry it could lead to the unnecessary picking up of lesions which would never have developed into cancer. HPV is just such a difficult issue to navigate.

David, I use Balneol lotion for peri-anal cleansing, after every bowel movement. It is expensive at the drug store, no prescription needed---but it is well worth it. SOOO soothing, used on a bit of toilet paper. While I have not had cancer, I am a 66 year old female, and I have suffered with Ulcerative Colitis, an auto-immune disease, since I was thirty. UC and Crohn's Colitis can also cause a sore and inflamed anal area. My doctor told me about Balneol lotion many years ago, and I'm so thankful that he did. (Some stores now carry a generic for Balneol, which can save you some money). Your salt-water cleansing suggestion also sounds effective, but you may find the cleansing with a little lotion to be simpler. It comes in a small bottle, so you can take it with you, in case you need to have a bowel movement away from home.
I also greatly recommand to get a small bidet to fix to your toilet. It was a life saver for me. Less toilet paper, no more irritation, no more pain! Way to go!

I have just finished treatment for rectal cancer. Wet toilet paper was my solution, too! No one told me, but God it made a difference. Also, in addition to other pain meds, Valium or something like it made a huge difference for me. Not a big dose, just enough to take the bite off the vaginal and rectal pain.
