I, too, have been going through an anal cancer scare. Just had a colonoscopy with the findings of an anal polyp, which was excised. Pathology determined it was benign, but I am wondering about how anal cancer, being so rare, might be overlooked, especially if one has had HPV 16 and 18 for years. Got a total hysterectomy almost 6 years ago and am afraid the virus has spread to the anus? Should I go for a 2nd opinion? If it's benign for cancer, does that mean it's benign for HPV?
Oh my !! I feel like I'm talking to myself! I am having a scare as well. I had microinvasive cervical cancer in September 2023. They cut it out with leep and suggested a total hysterectomy but I want one more baby so they are doing monitoring on me . I have hpv 16. I now feel SO afraid I might have anal cancer as well ??? How do I know this hpv 16 didn't travel to my anal area as well and caused cell displasia /cancer just like it did in cervix
I'm going through a anal cancer scare. There is very little information about it because of the stereotypes. This has been very helpful.
