Evidence are showing, overuse of antibiotics, specifically sulfonamides/trimethoprim are contributing to the increasing rate of colon cancer in young people. I sometimes wonder if it is the cause in many of these diagnoses.

Yes: antibiotics ,alcohol, red meat are very bad for colon, it's pretty well documented. These are so widespread in the western world that it is no surprise colon cancer is increasing.

I'll be praying for you. I'm a stage 4 colon cancer patient as well. In August 2021 I was rushed to the hospital because I hadn't been feeling well, lost over 40lbs in less than a month, stomach cramps and blood in my stool. I didn't get checked out because a few years earlier I had been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome and just thought that's what it was. They ran tests and found out that I have stage 4 colon cancer and did surgery to relocate my colon. The doctors told me the next morning that they didn't expect me to live 2 years but I told them that I was going to prove them wrong. I'm on my second round of chemo treatments because I did radiation treatments which caused the cancer to grow and spread. I'm not giving up and I'm going to beat this cancer and so will you!!

I'm 68 and have had Crohn's Disease since 1976 when it was an almost unknown disease. I believe one in two or three million had it back than. Now all you see are medications for Crohn's. I've had absolutely no medical problems for the past 38 years, until about July/August 2023, when I began to have mucus discharge. I had a colonoscopy in November and was diagnosed with stage 3 rectum cancer. I'll be starting chemotherapy and radiation treatments within the next week or so. Please pray and wish me well.

Mine turned up a cancerous tumor, which was removed. I never had chemo, or any other treatment. I was lucky to have had no further problems, at 13 years now. Thank God!

My mom passed in 13 at 62 from colon cancer. She found out at 59 and was stage 4. I get my colonoscopy regularly since it's in my family. My mom's grandmother's sister had it and survived. I'm glad people are talking about it.

I'm just like Diana, I've had sudden stomach since I turned 18, now I'm 30. When I asked my physician for a colonoscopy or a specialist I would be turned down. I finally got tested for celiac, which turned out to be negative. It's very frustrating and painful living like this.

Get a capsule endoscopy-colonoscopy instead. It goes through the small intestine too, and anesthesia is not needed. It takes 2 pictures every second. The regular one, doesn't go through the small intestine.

Do it! Do not wait. I waited for almost 2 years to get my colonoscopy when I first saw blood on my stool for first and last time but it was bright red- attributed to hemorrhoid.. then had leakage forca week. Attributed to it being summertime and possibly sweat. I am stage 1 thankfully but I still am waiting for a CT Scan to see the rest of my abdomen and chest to make sure nothing else is lurking.

Lost my dad in law to colon cancer. He too always had digestive issues and a history of piles. It seems many miss the symptoms because they have a history of stomach problems. Too bad he lost a lot of time, even with doctors not suspecting cancer.

God bless you. Praying for your continued recovery.
    Sharing my story:
From having bouts of acid reflux to the point of not being able to swallow my food or drink with in a matter of weeks. Having bouts of throwing up. Going to my gastro he kept insisting that there was nothing wrong even after repeated endoscopy and colonoscopy tests. My primary doctor, god bless him, would contact him insisting to do additional testing. My gastroenterologist actually got angry and recommended a psychiatrist as it was in my head. My primary sent me to the Mayo clinic in phoenix, the couldn’t find anything wrong. By now I’m in and out hospital, loosing weight, dehydrated and in so much pain in my gut and chest. My primary doctor then referred me to UCLA for a special endoscopy test. They found so many tumors up and down my esophagus, one so large that it was compressing my esophagus and cutting off my ability to eat or drink. I was sent to UC Irvine to confirm the findings. Thank god it was not cancerous however they had to remove my esophagus. The doctors said it was danger of possibly erupting and I could’ve bled out.
They created a new esophagus for me out of my stomach.
I still struggle 20 years later with eating drinking and pain. I barely hit 95 pounds. But I’m alive and I thank god for my primary doctor who would not give up on trying to find an answer and knew I wasn’t crazy!!
That gastroenterologist? The following year he was arrested for some unrelated issue in his business to do with money and unsanitary practices with medications. Yeah karma.
I live on pain management-special diet and can’t do anywhere near what I used to but I’m alive. I was only 45 when this happened. A single working mom. My employer? Kept me on for a year then eliminated my high ranking position. After 10 years with them.

Thank you for sharing your journey with colon cancer. #1 be proactive is what I get from this. Get second opinions, educate yourself, and trust in God that He will guide you.
May 2020 yes the bloating and feeling pregnant my gastroenterologist ordered CT scan and they found 6cm tumor. June 2020:surgeon removed all the cancer and did a resection. Now stage 2b no cancer in lymph nodes.
Thankfully God was with me and guided me. My 2nd opinion Oncologist wasn’t the right choice. Just had PET in September and still NED.
Yes being PROACTIVE is what saved your life. What amazing results you are having and pray God continues to heal you 💖

It’s crazy how most of the people in these stories are being diagnosed with cancer before the biopsy.
I went through so much before being diagnosed, they didn’t even confirm it was cancer until after removing part of my kidney & at first they were going the remove the entire kidney until I went for another opinion.
