I know what you mean... but only from the perspective of status quo pressure of having to express yourself like everyone else. Farrah was an iconic beautiful creature, original and unique and that difference should not have expectations to respond in a calculated way.

I was 10 in '76, and I adored her too. It had nothing to do with her body. It was who she was before she got involved with Ryan. She had a magical charisma. Unfortunately, it doesn't really translate here. She does seem very scattered, and David's making the most of it.

So sad she died so horrifically. Cancer doesn't discriminate. You can be the homely soap opera watching welfare mama or a beautiful Hollywood star. Makes no difference to cancer. And it's become an epidemic. The way to deak with cancer is to prevent it to begin with.

@@wandasewell4501 - Considering the overall body language, hands movement, tone of the voice, eyes movement, and multiple other things that are visible...?
Definitely a mess. Just trying to keep it together, partly her being a pro, and being aware of the issue. But a mess underneath.
As for having fun? Part of her maybe, but she knew that this is not normal. Hence trying to keep everything together. Quite visible behavior to any investigator, familiar with a body language, or a pro psychologist/psychiatrist. The signs are there, and you cannot make them more obvious (not during TV interviews, unless you go for somebody like Chris Farley - when it was obvious, even for blind people, that he was high during some of his interviews).

David Letterman is always funny but I tell you this one was Farrah fawcett was the funniest I could not stop laughing. Farrah fawcett's more dingy then I thought she was I can imagine she was very nervous very relaxing to have David Letterman he's so he kept the humor going.

She looks thin and seems to be on medication for something. Dave is making the best of it and he's doing it well. Sad she went through cancer and lost. She was a pretty lady.

Agree 💯%.. and very rude, mentioning the 12-step program.
Sad, that her management let her go on the show in that state - and very bad behaviour by Letterman, imo

I love Farrah show. I show I invented. With card board and pictures glued on she was my all. When Michael Jackson passed away they say it overshadowed Farrah but I'm sorry. To me it was Al about Farrah. Rip both

She was high. Her second appearance she mentioned it. Context - Farrah never was on Letterman before this appearance. Had been a sex symbol her whole adult life and here she is, at 50 years old promoting a Playboy magazine where she has a nude pictorial. Obviously she needed something to get her through the segment. She isn’t the only celebrity to get high before a talk show appearance. Happened on Carson, Leno and O’Brien multiple times with various guests from what I remember. Letterman also had his share of “high” on life celebrity guests. Look up Harmony Korine who got banned after several strange appearances.

I heard from an interview with her college sweetheart, who remained in contact with her through the years and reconnected with each other in 1998. He said that with this interview, she was going through a great deal of stress with her son and some other projects. Thus, trying to be ditzy, which she really isn't. A defense mechanism

    • @briancooney7183

Classic defense mechanism. Exaggerated ditzy bit to cover the sadness that was enveloping her for the last several years. She looked truly gorgeous here but it's sad to know she was hurting so deeply and that things only got worse for her. Dave knew what he was doing - ratings at his guest's expense. He'd happily hand you extra rope to hang yourself. So different from Johnny Carson, not a gentleman...Cher was right about his character. But his ratings went off the chart when "What's wrong with Farrah?" made headlines the next day. She'd had a Xanax and some tequila, no food. I can't really blame her. So glad we have these interviews to remember Farrah. Check out the Barbara Walters interview in her home that was later destroyed in the 1994 quake.
