  • Darius tells his magnificent story that proves that all you need is a spark to reinvent yourself.
    Phil Darius Wallace is a Memphis-based actor and writer who has always loved hearing and telling stories. He is a native of Flint Michigan but has been adopted as one of Memphis' own. At an early age he fell in love with the dramatic arts. His first professional job was with the Michigan Shakespeare festival as Calaban in Tempest. He has acted in theaters around the country including, Memphis’ own Tennessee Shakespeare Company where he is one of the founding members. For twenty years he has been performing one man shows in schools across the country. His most popular show, “Self Made Man: The Frederick Douglass Story,” performed to rave reviews Off Broadway. His film credits include Nothing But The Truth and ABC's Nashville. He wrote and produced his own movie, 100 Lives. He also loves coaching in the corporate world on how to use theatrical techniques to better presentational skills.

      I just heard a wonderful program that you were part of at the national archives outstanding work you have an amazing voice and you've got that speech alive I had tears in my eyes listening to the words of Frederick Douglass

    OMG, I remember Darius. He did a reenactment of Frederick Douglas's 'What the 4th of July Means to the Slave' on the 4th of July in DC at Douglas's historic home. This guy is amazing...phenomenal actor.

      Just listen to that speech had tears in my eyes he honest God brought that to life in a way that I never heard the words of Frederick Douglass brought to life before

    Our schools should invite Darius to be our resident arrest. talk to students, and let them know there is always hope, as long as we keep moving.

    That's a Masonic principal he gave a whole sermon on. All Masons who are initiated in the First Degree of Masonry are taught this principle, but he truly has an Supreme overstanding of it.
