I love retailers that are honest with their manufacturers and offer valuable feedback to them. Optical/CD? Dr10L, yes! Dedicated recorders are awesome, hardware is not quite dead. Many podcasters abhor software and these tools (rackmount) are still valuable.
I've just bought a SS-R250N to augment a DR-100MKII. Though the firmware can be a bit clunky and the display is very low quality, it does get the job done. Request for firmware update: When a digital input changes to a different sample rate than the recording setting, instead of displaying "Illegal FS", why not have the option for a new recording to start automatically with the correct sample rate? That would be a huge improvement. I'm planning on doing a video unbox and review of the SS-R250N shortly. I bet you also don't morn the death of Records, But then again you probably don't own a recording studio, so I understand the remark. You know what's funny? People miss Records, Tape, and CD now because there are songs "Great Songs" that never made it to the main steam, go figure. Just ranting...
