In today's video I show you 5 east close control exercises to improv your control and close control dribbling in tight spaces. being bale to control the ball in tight spaces will help you dribble in situations where you have 2-3 defenders around you and allow you to keep possession of the ball. 1: “Can you perform the exercises WITHOUT looking down at the ball?”
2: “Can you perform the exercises AS FAST as possible?”
3: “Can you clap hands at the SAME time as you touch the ball?”

No, thank you Michael. You have reignited my coaching after some hard years. Had Colon Cancer 3 years ago and had emergency operation and touch wood, I’m back to my best. Great stuff as always! I coach a U16F team that is playing up from U14F. Majority of my girls are 12 years old and are competing against 15 year olds. A lot of their success has to do with us implementing your training videos into our daily training sessions. Our team is always in better form than the competition because of this, and for that, we thank you!
Our biggest challenge is playing against bigger, stronger and faster players which is understandable as it's essentially 7th/8th graders playing against Sophomores. We rely on our technique and team play to compete against them. One area we can use improvement in is at the start of the game. Since we are playing older players who are faster and stronger, we come out the gate slow as the other teams try to run over them. The girls get better as the match moves on and we've only lost 1 game but these slow starts find us playing from behind almost every match. My question to you is, are there any prematch warmups you recommend to get them more prepared for these fast starts?

PS:- I've mastered my ball control, but I'm not good at placing the ball and long shoots as well. I really wanna improve my game days in, days out and seasons in and season out. I hate to seat on bench. I want to be regular starter and my coach always complains about me, not giving the final pass at the appropriate time.

Couple of quick questions that I haven't seen answered, if you don't mind.
When you're doing these or other tight space dribbling drills where's your focus - on the ball, on the cones, the space between the cones, somewhere else?
What about when 1v1 or even 1v2 - do you look past the defender to open space, at his feet, or somewhere else?
Also, when 1v1, are you thinking of the move prior to executing it or just on autopilot bc you've trained enough that the move comes naturally?

Also unrelated, but I wanted to ask, as a beginner, should I mix technical/physical training together? For example, Monday is Physical, Tuesday Technical, Wednesday Physical etc
Or should I focus on one?
I’m not a professional but I’d say balanced is all around better. Improve all areas and doing every other day is enough to develop the skills easily!

The ball. If you’re focused on the player you will be more easily deceived by their feints/movements. The ball doesn’t deceive though 👍

It isn't good when your eyes are all the time looking on the ball. In the match you will don't see what is in front of you, where are your teammates and your ,,enemies". If someone wants to do ballmasters, he should look up, no always eyes looking at the ball
You’re getting confused with dribbling and ball mastery, when travelling with the ball (where you take a touch of the ball followed by a few strides) to travel up the pitch, you keep your head up to assess passing options and opponents. In tight spaces, you look between the ball and your opponent so that both are in your peripheral.
It’s good to understand the difference 👍
