I really like the new Seiko models the green dial Sarx071 or white dial Sarx069. They look very versatile. Good candidate for the one watch collection.
I had a Baltic Aquascaphe as well. Very solid and great quality. The finishing is easily better than some of the luxury brands. Not to mention great service as well. I am waiting for their Salmon dials!
The Baltic and the Hamilton are beautiful! From what I’ve read, the Chinese didn’t replicate the movement, but acquired the manufacturer Venus (or bought the design) back in the 60’s.
Solid list! Baltic deserves the number one spot. I have the Aquascaphe and it has the feel and quality of a watch 5x the cost. Seiko and Hamilton is a must for all collectors, as not only will you have a great watch, but a piece of horology history
I really like that Magrette; I know I’m being unrealistic but I wish I could find a “true” GMT in this price range. Really bothers me that GMTs in this price range have the jumping GMT hand as opposed to the hour hand.
What would be your choice under $1,000? Let me know! Also, check out my under $500 list. Link is in description.
Good pics.

I absolutely love Baltic, missed out on the worn and wound collaboration.
Out of curiosity, what was your first +$500 watch?
I think I bought a watch off ShopNBC and it was a company that is no longer in business, Renato. Lol
