I find that crafting is 3 hobbies - shopping for supplies, organizing craft supplies, and actually crafting! I absolutely love your spare drill storage. Thanks for this helpful video for this diamond painting newbie.
I’ve just bought a diamond painting accessory kit for £10.99 on amazon, it comes with the storage box that you have with 28 slots, ten pieces of wax, multiple pens with different ends, 4 pen grips, labels, stickers, tweezers and multiple different size trays. It’s made it so much easier having the storage and labels and the multi drill pens!xx
I have ordered my first one hopefully it’s really good and a new hobby as I have anxiety Edit I have now done one it’s so relaxing I’m have now got my kit it came this morning
Just completed my 2nd painting, I bought a fancier pen in between my 1st and 2nd painting and would say it is a need for me, I didn't like using the pen that came in the kit and found the squishy grip would slide down often, I keep seeing people recommending the light pad and am getting closer and closer to a purchase as I have another 6 paintings waiting in the wings. Nice video, lots of useful info, thanks
Hello Rebecca my name is nelly from Western Australia I have been watching all your videos keep up bringing videos I find then helpful I have been dimond painting over a year now thank you for your help
Thank you so much for the helpful video! Thanks for feeding my new need. I have been a scrapbooker and mini album maker for around eight years now. But, I have found my new obsession! It is extremely addictive! I started my first Diamond Painting on Friday night (like 8 PM) and worked on it into the very wee hours (like 5 AM). Oh my it was so FUN! This is Monday and I can't wait to go work on my painting some more. It is a 30x30 canvas of two white roses. I will finish it today or tomorrow I think. I am so glad I ordered four in my first go round. I'm in the US and everything took about a month to arrive from China. I just ordered a light pad that should arrive this week. Some of those symbols are hard to see with the dark backgrounds. I have been working out of the plastic bags the drills come in and taping them closed so, that small plastic storage case with the removable four cupped storage strips looks like the answer to my organizational problems.
I’m so grateful for this video!! You just answered multiple questions I had, & a few I didn’t even know I had yet!! Haha. So thank you!! Also, that butterfly is beeauutiful!!
It's made me giggle watching this video 2 years after its been made, now knowing how many pens and trays you have now. You said you're quite happy with using just the pink pens that come with the kit lol. 🤣 I can't wait until after new year to grab some of your zesty trays :) love the pale pink too! X
I agree with your equipment purchases. I have a light board, best buy I ever made. I store my crystals in small plastic bottles with screw on caps in 2 plastic tool kit boxes about 2 feet by 4 inches in size. We all make our choices for what works for us. My largest and best piece of equipment I have is the angles board my hubby made for me. It is on an angle, about 4 inches at the back down to table level in front. The work top size is 2 feet wide by 1 and a half feet from front to back. It allows me to keep some tools I am using on top. For example, the little funnel I use to slide the crystals from the tray back into to their bottle when done that colour. Also, tweezers I may need, my tray rests at the bottom edge against me. Just whatever I use. I love this craft and find it restful and relaxing. Do get yourself the light pad. It is really a need. A small magnifying glass comes in handy sometimes. About 3 inches across. It would be needed when some of the squares may be hard to read.
Most of the stuff I already had since I do art. (Light pad, small zip lock bags, an artist's pallet that I can put several colours of drills in [it's really useful I've got like 14 colours in there atm] and also a box to store it in). I just bought a better tool set since the pen it comes with gives my hand cramps. Love your video x
I have just started dimond painting and i have found the light board amazing as i have got bad eyes so i find it very helpful and i wanted to try something new as getting feed up doing card making after a long time and wanted new art to do
So much has changed in the last few years. Can you do an updated version of this video? I just started Diamond painting in the last few months. Love my Xyron sticker maker. Love release papers. Love storage, for current and spares. Please do an updated video ❤
I agree. I just started doing my Diamond painting again after a break of a couple of years. Would love to see new info about current tools as well as companies to buy from.
Wonderful video and so very helpful! Thank you! I tried on a pair of magnifying glasses at one of my friends that also does DP. I found my self ordering a pair! Sometimes my regular glasses and lightpad are just not enough to easily see the drills and the graph. Oh, the joys of getting older!
I ordered these on Aliexpress. www.aliexpress.com/item/32964184153.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4diQAWXM the prize is $1,42 each and I ordered 150,200,250,300 and 400 degrees LOL I expect I will sometimes need stronger magnification than at other times.
Thank you very much for this video, I am beginning to enjoy this activity and it has been very useful for me to have everything I need and enjoy it 100%. Greetings from Spain.
I’m a new sub! I had to sub to you after this vid. I have most of the wants…. Lol. I have been trying to think of how to store my leftover diamonds and I am using baggies. Probably going to do the box idea that you did for your leftovers. I love your vids!!! I am now binging them while working on a diamond painting. 😄
i started my first diamond painting on christmas :D its a picture of a celebrity i really look up too, the colours are a bit funky but it still looks cool
Enjoy your video very much wish I had watched before I started. It would have saved me a lot of work. I'm in the USA and a lot of what you need and want are on Etsy they have the best prices and are in the USA they process and ship in one day with the pandemic slowing everything down its nice to get them fast . The ones I ordered from China took weeks. Keep the videos coming.
Hi, thank you. I'm glad I can help those starting out. I'm sure we all have other tools we like or love but I also want those to know what to spend the precious pennies on first.
I love home bargains too! Have to just say, while I agree with most of your assessments, the pens you can buy (mostly from China) are far superior to the plastic pens you get sent. Trust me and treat yourself, they're around £5 for 2 or 3. Tfs! Be safe.
Thanks for this video. Even though I am far into my diamond painting journey, - I had not heard of "Blue-Tack" so I am eager to try it as I have not liked the regular wax that come with the kits. Happy New Year!!
I agree with all your wants and needs. :) I found a light pad is really a need especially if you get I and J both on the same background colour! The only thing I now need is a diamond grinder to separate those pesky square drills that are stuck together. Good thing is I found some on aliexpress yesterday for a couple of quid.
Very good vid I hate the red wax it doesn't last very long I use blue tack it's fantastic I can go for hours and not have to reload it were the wax I only get 20 or so minutes
Thank you very much! I have not started diamond painting I have been watching the videos. I was getting a bit nervous as some are oh you need this or need that to do this or that. You have calmed me a bit lol.
I'm soo glad I could help. It's nice to spend money on the extra bits but I hope it helps knowing what you are going to get more out of. Having said that - you can just work with the kit that is sent, so take your time. :)
I just finished my first diamond painting. My wax came in a little pot. It didn't come in the squares that you showed at the beginning of your video. For storage I'm thinking of investing into a box similar to the one you showed that had individual drawers. I'd label them with the dmc color codes and throw my diamonds into them. Then as I worked on a project, I pull out the drawers that I needed to use. I would not set up another box with leftover diamonds. That's a waste of time. I would just add diamonds to my coded drawers and paint with them. The only thing to keep in mind. You would want 2 such storage systems color coded: one for round diamonds, the other for the square diamonds.
Hi, I've not had wax arrive in a little pot yet but I have put mine into one and it stops it drying out, so I love it. I understand what you're saying about the drawers; however, for me I don't have the space for that many with DMC having between 400-500 colours and the dye lots can vary so I might need more than one draw for each colour. If you've got the space though it sounds like a great idea.
One item that I’ve found that is great to have on hand when you need it, but it isn’t used all that often - baby wipes. I found a trial size pack of regular baby wipes at my local pharmacy for less the $2 (US dollars). It’s works very well for removing any paper that accidentally gets stuck on exposed adhesive. You gently wipe at the stuck on paper until the stickiness is back. I have actually used it and it works surprisingly well.
Just found this while browsing. Complete novice just beginning and trying to glean as much info as possible so thank you for this. Could you tell me where you buy your ever moment paintings?
Perfect video for us newbies! Thank you so much! Have bought some of the ‘needs’ (and wants 😉) and want to store my finished paintings in the portfolio. How do you get rid of the sticky bit left over around the paintings in order to be able to store them in there without sticking to each other?
I cut the edges of the diamond painting off once finished. I've got a video due on my channel tomorrow where I breakdown my diamonds and put a completed diamond painting onto a sheet of cardstock to go into my display book. (dynamic floral) 💕
What's the need for keeping unused drills? I seal my pictures with pva glue after I've completed it and throw my unused ones away. I keep all completed and non completed ones in a big A3 art folder which keeps them flat and helps straighten them out to. I put all the drills for each picture in small numbered bags for each picture. Simple no need for extras
Sometimes a painting can come without enough, or you can use them on other things. I'm currently doing a cross stitch chart in my spare diamonds on a blank canvas. Also, accidents can happen. Rather than picking loads up out of my rug if dropped, I can grab some spares and the hoover. LOL
Also, I like the plastic bag you use on your future projects, I saw them once but I cannot find them right now. I have seen them when you purchase a kit tool but I do not need all of that.
I love this video's of yours. One thing i also use is a (New😉) toothbrush to remove wax between the Diamonds. It's not a need but it helps. @happydiamondpainting
Just ordered my first kit!! so excited and extremely happy to have found your fantastic Chanel. I think I pretty much have everything I need and want thanks to you. I also have 3 girls & one boy, they all live in Australia 🇦🇺❤️ I live in the US with my American Husband. I travel back twice a year to see my family who I miss like crazy. 🤗
Thank you for this video - I have just started and have become addicted quickly The rhinestone tiger painting you mentioned- do you happen to have a link for where to purchase it please?
Hi there! I just purchased my first kit for Diamond Painting. Thank you so much for this video. I am wondering what you have to store you light board? Please and thanks...have a lovely day
@@addmorezest Hi there! Thank you ... I have a lovely blue purse that is the perfect height. Also, a large see through makeup bag that I will use for my current project. Cheers
Hi, I’m really new to this craft, thank you so much for sharing this information it really was a good insight, as to how to choose sizes!! Sorry if I missed this but it would be really useful to tell us costings and p&p to the UK and where you got these from( again sorry if you said ) I know you usually put a link in the comments x
Hi Julie, I think all the tools I reviewed on here were free P&P. Because I purchased them over the course of a few months it can be hard to remember where I got each from, but if you want to know about any in particular I can do my best to find out. :)
Hi, really love your videos. Ive just finished my first painting with diamonds a cat with a butterfly. Now I'm doing my 2nd painting of a colourful landscape. I am looking at getting storage for my beads. Ordered a light box which should arrive tomz :) I just wanted to ask.. What do you do with the spare beads when you finshed a picture? Do you keep them or throw away? X
I keep the extra diamonds incase I run short for a future project, I have a video on how I store them here: ruclips.net/video/h7F1hJv5fdo/видео.html Also, I am using my spares to complete a cross stitch pattern and I've got a playlist on that too here: ruclips.net/p/PLTGrPEbBc6QIoiOJWI-AVYelpon6bk20r
@@addmorezestAmazing. This diamond painting is really addictive and keeping me busy during the lockdown. Thank you for your quick reply and I really enjoy all your videos as it's so helpful. Best regards x
Thank you for this video, this is very good information to know. When you are done with the painting, do you remove the washi around the edges and then what do you do in regards to the stickiness?
Thank you. I remove the washi tape when I'm done and quite often trim off all the canvas to frame. If the frame is bigger than the canvas then I use a more suitable matching washi to provide a border.
Do u agree that the bigger (canvas) the better? And i hope u will make video in sealing the finish diamond painting,,.. If there is already can i have the link? Thanks 😗😗😗😗
In regards to bigger is better - not always in my opinion. I think you have to go by what the picture is. One big item in the image, you can get away with smaller, cartoon style can be smaller too (provided it's not got too many small details). It can be a find balancing game. 30x40 is a nice size, but some images you need to just go bigger for clarity. I'm hoping to get some canvas' ordered soon that are the same image but different sizes so I can show what I mean. In regards to sealing a painting - sorry I haven't done a video, mainly because I haven't sealed a painting at all. I've found they've all be behind glass, or I've just been too lazy to try it.
Hi Kathleen, I love using the straightening tips that go on the pens and I find they are worth it. If you are talking about the bigger plastic tool, I've not purchased one, but that is because I keep thinking a gift card will do the same thing.
I just started diamond painting last June(?) out of curiosity and know I am almost done with my 4th diamond painting. But I can't really afford the under light since I am still a student, can I ask something like a alternative?
I have a little adjustable lamp I use to aim the light at my paintings that im working on. It casts a shadow at night but its bearable and gives off enough light to work on it at night
On the storage for the diamonds them numbers are just for one painting right? So when you’ve finished that painting do you just take the number sticker off and put new ones on?
Hi I'm so glad you warned me about the light pad I would be heartbroken if mine started to break. You can get magnetic charging cables for mobile phones so I'm going to use that for my light pad so I won't need to keep pulling the USB cable out of it. That way it should be fine. Great video 🙂 x
Awe thank you and I'm gutted to here yours got broken but glad you have a new one in the way with and ordered a magnetic cable. Its so much easier. Glad I could help 😌
I don't clean the wax out once in my pen. I just add more when needed. Every few months I clean the pen out, but for that I use some tweezers to get it out of the tip.
Wilko also do clear A5 zip lock pouches for about 50p. They are gusseted and sturdy and will stand upright in your basket or box. I used them for storing my surplus tools in.
HI Katherine, I don't use an artist board, though I probably should. I have seen that some laptop tray tables help people. They can then use them on a table or on their knee.
You could just use a drop of glue where it's not very sticky to make sure the diamonds stay, or wipe with a damp cloth if you need to remove 'bits of dust/fluff' from the tape.
When using the light pad under the painting do you have it placed where you are placing the diamonds? does the light go right under the symbol. Will it hurt the light? Does the light get hot to affect the glue the diamond is sticking to? Thabks
Hi, the light pad is placed directly under the canvas so the symbol shows clearer as the light shows through. As it's a light plate it doesn't affect the glue and placing diamonds onto the canvas doesn't affect the light pad at all.
I've worked with static drills without doing anything. They've stuck to the painting just fine. It can just take a little bit to get them singly on the pen.
I find that crafting is 3 hobbies - shopping for supplies, organizing craft supplies, and actually crafting! I absolutely love your spare drill storage. Thanks for this helpful video for this diamond painting newbie.
So true! And all of them are so enjoyable. :)
So funny...& SO true!! LOL
Right on, sister. I quilt and paper craft and organizing and shopping are half (or more!) of the fun!
Absolutely correct lol
Such a true statements for Crafters! Thank-You Melissa. Yes, I am aware of long ago your comment was made!

I can't wait until after new year to grab some of your zesty trays :) love the pale pink too!
It would be needed when some of the squares may be hard to read.
Dryer sheets....Awesome idea
That was driving me nuts!
I have just got one and I am already obsessed! I am ordering the storage soon!!
I have just started dimond painting and i have found the light board amazing as i have got bad eyes so i find it very helpful and i wanted to try something new as getting feed up doing card making after a long time and wanted new art to do
im a newbie to diamond painting. still in the middle of my first one. so thankyou, much appreciated this video.
You are so welcome! I hope you're enjoying your painting
Thanks for the amazing video. I'm a newbie but I think I love the idea of having various cover minders. They look so pretty.
Glad it was helpful!

Light pad is a definite need & storage ❤
i started my first diamond painting on christmas :D its a picture of a celebrity i really look up too, the colours are a bit funky but it still looks cool
Great video!! Definitely agree that light pad and storage should be the 1st investment if you will be doing this craft for any length of time! Tfs
I'm glad I'm not the only one, thanks. It did take me a while to get a light pad though - and then I wondered why I waited. LOL
Great video. Love the storage box halfway through the video.
Thank you for this video. It is one of the few honest and helpful tools video I have watched

@@addmorezest thank you so much for getting back to me. Will definitely watch tomorrow’s video!
Thank you
I have just started painting and this is very helpful.
I only started my first partial yesterday.
I'm glad I could help. Enjoy becoming addicted to diamond painting.
My first diamond painting is a full drill and I just gotten to half way done
LOL
I have used the magnifier on my IPhone a lot on last painting I did was so hard to make out a few symbols
Also, I like the plastic bag you use on your future projects, I saw them once but I cannot find them right now. I have seen them when you purchase a kit tool but I do not need all of that.
I need a craft room for all my stuff
TRUTH
i need to brag ..... i GOT one HAHAHA
and i got a lot of crafts going :D
I love this video's of yours. One thing i also use is a (New😉) toothbrush to remove wax between the Diamonds. It's not a need but it helps.
@happydiamondpainting
I'm glad I could help, I've recently ordered a hand made diamond painting pen too - definitely a want.
Thank you for this video - I have just started and have become addicted quickly
The rhinestone tiger painting you mentioned- do you happen to have a link for where to purchase it please?
I’m sorry I got the rhinestone tiger in Australia from a club there so it wasn’t a shop I can link to.
@@addmorezest no problem- thank you for taking the time to let me know 😊
Hi there! I just purchased my first kit for Diamond Painting. Thank you so much for this video. I am wondering what you have to store you light board? Please and thanks...have a lovely day
I don't store it in anything as it stays out on my little table I use, but a laptop neoprene bag would probably be good if you need to store it.
@@addmorezest Hi there! Thank you ... I have a lovely blue purse that is the perfect height. Also, a large see through makeup bag that I will use for my current project. Cheers
rachel gillis awesome! It’s great when you find the perfect thing already to use without waiting for shipping. 😎
Thank you for this!
Glad it was helpful!
i actually made my own port folio using large box from Walmarts and leave it under my mattress just for storing my canvases
I an waiting for my first diamond painting to come
Do you pin or tape your canvas to a board for working? Also is there a risk of diamonds coming off the canvas afterwards?
I sometimes use clips to hold it to my light pad, but I've found as long as you don't throw the canvas around, diamonds don't tend to come off.
I love my light pad. The thing that I just bought, was a table top easel! $30.00 need no it was a big wan
Hi, really love your videos. Ive just finished my first painting with diamonds a cat with a butterfly. Now I'm doing my 2nd painting of a colourful landscape. I am looking at getting storage for my beads. Ordered a light box which should arrive tomz :)
I just wanted to ask.. What do you do with the spare beads when you finshed a picture? Do you keep them or throw away? X
I keep the extra diamonds incase I run short for a future project, I have a video on how I store them here: ruclips.net/video/h7F1hJv5fdo/видео.html
Also, I am using my spares to complete a cross stitch pattern and I've got a playlist on that too here: ruclips.net/p/PLTGrPEbBc6QIoiOJWI-AVYelpon6bk20r
I was a bit hesitant about the light pad, How do you store a canvas you are currently working on?
The one I'm working on tends to just stay sat on the table I use. Others are hung up on trouser hangers.
I just started diamond painting
Ashtrays work for the trash gems or small bits from them being made
thank you so much for the video could I please just ask them plastic thing to straighten the drills are they worth buying x
Hi Kathleen, I love using the straightening tips that go on the pens and I find they are worth it. If you are talking about the bigger plastic tool, I've not purchased one, but that is because I keep thinking a gift card will do the same thing.
@@addmorezestd x thank you so much4kids x
Very helpful. TFTC🌻☕️😀💛👍
I put new ones on for each painting. I love kitting them up. :)
a 6 pack of the 28 storage is 14.99 on amazon
What would you suggest is a good way to store finished paintings that you don't frame right away that is inexpensive? TIA
I use either an Art folio, or for a really cheap solution - a trouser hanger and hang it up in your wardrobe. :)
Your idea is great!!! My daughter recently caught the cable on mine and it pulled it out. I've just ordered a magnetic cable with my new light pad.
Awe thank you and I'm gutted to here yours got broken but glad you have a new one in the way with and ordered a magnetic cable. Its so much easier. Glad I could help 😌
I start diamond painting on dec 8 and its dec 15 and im half way and it keep me using my phone
I've just ordered my first one i was wondering how to clean wax out of pen when done for day and can i put it back in the container for reuse
I don't clean the wax out once in my pen. I just add more when needed. Every few months I clean the pen out, but for that I use some tweezers to get it out of the tip.
I am going to get two diamond art painting for my bday
Love all your video's.

Where can I purchase the plastic pouches that you keep your work in?
The Range have them in different sizes and colours.
As below, the Range sell them, or many stationery shops do too.
I’ve seen tons of these - transparent and not - at Hobby Lobby. They typically come in sets of 2-3. Use a coupon! Cheap and cute and useful.
Wilko also do clear A5 zip lock pouches for about 50p. They are gusseted and sturdy and will stand upright in your basket or box. I used them for storing my surplus tools in.
Thank you for the nice video.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your video, can you advise me re what sort of artist's board I should buy to help with neck pain?
HI Katherine, I don't use an artist board, though I probably should. I have seen that some laptop tray tables help people. They can then use them on a table or on their knee.
Look up “mind reader” lap desk. $15 on Amazon.
And how are you saving the paintings themselves which you still have to do?
@happydiamondpainting
I store them on trouser hangers. 💕
New subscriber. Love your videos. 😍
I have. A problem with adhesive that does not stick. Is there a way to make the adhesive more sticky?
You could just use a drop of glue where it's not very sticky to make sure the diamonds stay, or wipe with a damp cloth if you need to remove 'bits of dust/fluff' from the tape.
Get blue tack, gray tack or paddy wax “ss”. (Etsy-sells out fast but she just makes more).
THANK YOU‼️
Where did you bought the A1 westfolio?
I got mine from Hobbycraft.
Some things have changed. 🌻💛👍☕️😀Tfs
Light pad definitely a need
If you dont do anything with static drills what happens
I've worked with static drills without doing anything. They've stuck to the painting just fine. It can just take a little bit to get them singly on the pen.
