RabidHobo idk, mine might, got plenty of power for the size, mines an 02 edge with power everything, extended cab with the back doors, and a step side, I love it, good little truck, it’s also got the 3.0l Vulcan v6
Yeah my grandpa still has it he doesn't really go anywhere with it has not been into a shop in years just for oil changes and maybe tires that's it nothing mechanical transmission wise it's a good truck I want it
You'll find one someday it may not be a 2001 but it might be newer or a might be in 99 but in really good shape the truck I believe it has closer to a hundred and forty thousand miles as of the video. I'm trying to convince my grandfather to let me have it but as of no luck.
OK so after it rains or something like that when you first started does start squeaking but then it will stop? I have the same thing happen to my me with my Ford ranger 99 xlt
Even to this day after posting that video many years ago the belt still squeaks even if it rains or it's sunny out we replace the belt and the pulley and it still squeaks.
@@lukeg4017 the making of this video it only had 131,xxxx Miles today it has about 140,xxxx Miles my grandfather doesn't go anywhere with it. It mostly sits it's your typical going to town rig. I've asked him if I could buy it from him and he currently as of last month said no but I know someday I will own that truck. You keep up the maintenance that truck should last you for years.
But in my experience, these things last so long. Mine got to 264,000 miles. But when it went down, it went down hard. Everything broke at once. But i absolutely loved this truck
Yes that's my grandpa's truck 1999 Ford Ranger XLT it's kind of about 144000 miles so not too much more than what is in this video right now he cannot find the key if you would ever sell it I would buy it from him cuz I like that little truck
NO RUST.... NICE. it does sound like it needs a new pully, but no big deal. u can fix that, u got 2 learn some how & some way.... lol :) thanks 4 uploading the vid. :)
ur welcome bud the truck is mostlyin storage for the winter maybe 1 moth in the snow then they head 4 texas..also they use it in town mostly that's why the miles..also he just put 4 NEW tires on as u can see the pics.glad u liked it
vampluv120 they offered multiple types of the XLT. They had step-side beds and regular as well as an automatic and a manual transmission not to mention the fact they had rwd and 4wd.
I don't have much comparison to other 4x4 vehicles. My first vehicle was a 2000 Dodge Avenger and going from that to this while in 4x4 with a bit of weight in the back drives like a dream. Ice is always there and dangerous, but it tackles snow like it is nothing. I love driving my 99 ranger after a heavy snow when nobody else is willing to go out in it. So far it has been fairly reliable. It needs a decent repair once a year or so, but that never comes close to even 2 months of car payments on a new vehicle. Hence why I am still driving mine. As long as my mechanic seems optimistic about how much life is in mine I intend to keep it as a back up vehicle alongside a newer car. For a truck it is decent on gas, always starts, and from older ones I see on the road seem to be able to take a beating so they would make a competent work truck.
If you get a 2wd Ranger with limited it will not be very good. I totaled my 2000 only going 40mph because the rear end went out from under it and i slid into a guard rail. It’s a common misconception that limited slips are better in snow when it’s quite the opposite. Limited slip will get you going quicker but will slide out from under it easier because when one wheel loses traction and starts to spin the other will react the same and I’m sure you can imagine how that goes. I have since gotten a Ford ranger extended cab 4x4 with a open diff and it does much better. Than is a noticeable diff even in just 2wd. It’s much for stable
thats passenger air bag turn on and off and the oil gauge is high and low pressure and just because the gauge goes to 120 doesnt mean it goes 120 hahaha
Been looking around for a ford ranger. Found a couple and finally found an xlt that I like! Gonna be a great first car (truck)
I bought one yesterday for a first truck and it is a great vehicle
nice bro I was just passing by I liked the music so I decided to subscribe and like!!
Thank you
Good video great truck! Hope you know that just because the speedometer says 120 doesn't mean it goes 120 lol
RabidHobo yup never went that high and never will not my truck... wish it was tho :(
You mean the “speed limit” says 120
Your absolutely right lol. Mines goes 90 and that's it. Still a lovely little truck.
Jaime Pedraza yea mine does 90 also they have a speed limiter on the rangers

Looking into getting low budget truck for the winter. Are these trucks reliable and how well do they drive in the snow?

Yes the fog lights in bumper I am pretty sure were stock on the xlt model.
only xlt single cab dont have fog light
