I’m really glad to see Sebastian doing so well with no delays. As much as it’s hard to say life is so much easier with a neurotypical kid, my daughter (only child) has severe autism and I wish she could do the things that Sebastian is doing but I’m working on accepting that she might never be functional for the rest of her life 😢

I understand this very much. I still get pangs of sadness mixed with the joy of seeing Sebastian speaking and doing so many new things💙

Sebastian is so adorable!! He is progressing so well. I can see you all are enjoying him and he's an delight. There's nothing wrong with him wanting/needing mom more. They grow up so fast and move on.

Aww Sébastien is doing so well! I love Christian's smirk when he put his feet in the water! I definitely was keeping tabs on Alice after having Zac. Hope you're having a good summer! ❤

So my children are 15 1/2 months apart and it was very hard with the questions. Some can make you instantly tear up because they catch you off guard. Like my daughter would ask me tough questions while she sat in the shopping cart. Lol it was like her time to just think about stuff. How I broke up autism to her was that I would point to different parts of her brain. I would say “ this part helps you talk, this one tells you stop, not safe, this one tells you to ect ect. Then I would do the same to my son but word it differently to his needs or struggles. She was like 3 during the hard hitting questions but after this I really think she understood that her brothers brain was just different than hers but the same in other areas.

Thank you for this! I think this is a great way to explain differences they may be seeing and questioning 💙

Hi def not alone have a 15 year old high functioning, 7 year old severe/nonverbal and 5 year old who's talking but likely on the spectrum. Personally I think siblings very likely to be on the spectrum even if very mild.

I understand completely and even though it’s hard the best thing we can do for our kiddos is get them the support they may need early on. Sometimes it can just be a delay but even If it is autism, early support is so beneficial. Sending love and positive energy! 💙

If only we knew. For girls it’s hard to get a diagnosis and for higher functioning kiddos as well at times. I sometimes randomly wonder about the what if’s. what I’m not seeing as my son older son has high needs. I never got to see signs of autism that were not very in your face and typical like hand flapping and not speaking. Either way for sebs I am always aware and if need be I would get him any additional support he may need, same goes for my 12 year old 💙

According to stats there is a 50% chance of our autism siblings having some developmental issues, my 1st born is neurotypical and was fully verbal prior to the 2, my 2nd has severe autism but developed basic speech due to early intervention aba and speech therapy since he was 2, and 3rd very similar to your boy except mine is a girl, she is not like my 1st nor like my second, just praying everything comes together now between 2 to 3. Good luck to you guys and I think our 3rd kiddos will make it fine especially with the extra attention we re giving them due to all the lessons we learned with our 2 nd borns.

The biggest help is our life knowledge that we have now. 💙 no matter what I feel more capable and I understand so much more to better help my kiddos

Is he flapping? Running into circles, toe walking??? Youngest just started doing those as she turned 2 and is very worrysome, not at the intensity as the brother, but still….

I haven’t seen him flapping or doing any repetitive behaviors. I have seen him copy his brothers sounds and stims a couple times. I know he’s copying him because it’s right after seeing/hearing his brother and he turns to look at me all proud 😆. I know how easy it is to worry I would definitely take note of it and if there is other things like developmental delays happening definitely touch base with Primary care Dr. Sebs is 2 months away from two years old, haven’t seen any signs of autism but I still keep a close eye 💙
