    Thank you so much for not talking -
    I can read facial expressions and body language. Your reactions were very clear to me.
    Too many reactors chatter away non-stop - they talk over important script which tells us what we need to know in the story. So we can't follow the story, and they are clueless. Why would we care about their reaction - they're lost.
    So thanks for not trampling all over the film. I enjoyed your reaction.
    Peace -

    24 minutes. That's Anthony Hopkins' screen time in this movie, so powerful a performance you'd think it was longer.

  • @lethaldose2000
    @lethaldose2000 2 года назад +10

    Anthony Hopkins was asked by the director why he chose to be standing in the center of his cell. For the scene of him meeting Clarice. When the director asked him why he was doing that, Hopkins said “I’m waiting to greet her.” How do you know she’s coming, Hopkins said “I can smell her.” Now that is next level messing with your mind. DAmn. What a master in studying personalities. EVen corrupted on a pysiological level.

    Hannibal is a genius-level, highly calculated psychopath that will slice your throat if you get in his way. Slasher villains are easily predictable.
    Which is what makes Hannibal all the more terrifying. And we love him for it.

  • @dmwalker24

    If he were real, Lecter would be about the most dangerous person on the planet. Towering intellect, a psychiatrist, trained as a medical doctor, and with a predator's absolute disregard for its prey. Additionally, having such high-level control over his own choices and actions makes him even more terrifying. Hopkins performance is one of the all-time greats, and Foster is one of a very short list of actors who could have balanced their scenes together as brilliantly as she did.

    Fun Fact: This is one of three movies to win the top five Oscars: Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay. The others are It Happened One Night (1934) and One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975).
    Law Enforcement Cooperation Fact: The real-life FBI's Behavioral Science Unit assisted in the making of this movie.
    Acting Is Reacting Fact: Jodie Foster claims that during the first meeting between Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling, Sir Anthony Hopkins's mocking of her southern accent was improvised on the spot. Foster's horrified reaction was genuine since she felt personally attacked. She later thanked Hopkins for generating such an honest reaction.

    I remember going to see this in the movie theater in New Orleans with friends. We were all in college at the time and we had walked from the French Quarter to Canal Place to see the last showing for the night, around 1030pm. Needless to say the walk home from the theater was pure terror. We walked like we were in a huddle, jumping at every single noise. This movie scared us for many year after. Truly one of the most well made works of art still in 2022!
    I remember reading that Jodie Foster turned down the role in Hannibal because she didn't agree with what her character became. Guess you'll have to watch it and see if you agreed with her decision?

    There are parallels with Hannibal and Clarice in their lives. There are 3 other Hannibal movies. All based on the Thomas Harris books. Hannibal Rising. The origin story of Hannibal. Red Dragon is the prequel to Silence of the Lambs. And then Hannibal takes place some time after SotL. The ending deviates from the book but it's still a good watch. And plenty more of the psychological thriller along with some gore.

    The story was inspired by the time the FBI asked serial killer Ted Bundy to create a profile for the green river killer, when they finally caught him they realized that Bundys profiles was pretty accurate. The scene where Buffalo bill fakes having a broken arm to kidnap Catherine was also inspired by Bundy who would fake having a broken arm to trick women into helping him get something in his car and then he would hit them over the head.
    I found out recently that the actors who played Buffalo bill and Catherine actually dated during the making of the movie.
    Buffalo bills was inspired by several real like serial killers including Ed Gein who used to dig up recently buried bodies and use their skin to make things like lamp shades or gloves.

    There was a movie called Magic (1978) which is a wonderful tour de force performance by Anthony Hopkins. A psychological thriller and it wouldn't surprise me if Hopkins was cast for Silence based on that film. It was written by William Goldman who's best known these days for The Princess Bride. His scarier works, like Magic and The Ghost and the Darkness (1987, starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer) are largely ignored by modern movie reactors and shouldn't be. They were hits in their times for a reason.

    According to one of germany´s leading forensic pathologist, Prof. Michael Tsokos, they do not use some creme or ointment to cover a corpse´s smell. First it would irritate the skin of the upper lip when applied on regular base, but more important an experienced pathologist can gather information from it (f.e. alcohol which is very obvious). A corpse´s odor is described as unpleasant, but tolerable.

    Wonderful reaction, wonderful using the full-screen to show the movie (we can really enjoy the movie that way). You commented when you had something to say, but you didn't comment to excess like so many other 'reactors'. Right-on!
    Jodie Foster - so beautiful when she was young. Diane Baker also a very beautiful woman in her (younger) day.
    A suberb acting performance by Jodie Foster, winning her a very well deserved (Academy Award) Oscar for Best Actress in a leading role, as well as the Golden Globe Award (in the same catagory).
    A suberb movie (five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Screenplay). Wow!
    Closeup: I bet two movies you would really, really like (if you can down-load/up-load?) them are: "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and "Patton". "Patton", winner of eight Academy Awards, plus six other major industry awards, is definitely worth the effort to view and react to, as is also "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."

    First, don't ever apologize for not talking a lot. If a scene is intense and grabs you, the only thing to do is give it 100% of your attention. It makes it some much better for your viewers as well, I promise you that. It is a very good thing, nothing negative at all.
    Second, this movie is definitely one you should watch several times at least!
    Lastly, this is 1 of 3 movies in the history of film, to win all 5 major academy awards!!! What makes it even more amazing is that it is a horror/thriller, which rarely win any academy awards. In fact Silence of the Lambs is the ONLY horror movie to EVER win Best Picture! Only 6 have been nominated, and I honestly believe only 4 deserved nominations. The Exorcist, Jaws, The Sixth Sense, and this movie are the ones who deserved it. Black Swan & Get Out both were nominated, but are a little overrated IMHO. I can even understand Get Out (a really good movie), but Black Swan was more about Natalie Portman's Oscar Winning performance than the movie being Best Picture worthy.

    I would like to say a few words about your reactions. I really do enjoy watching reaction video's and yours are the best I've seen. The reasons are: First, your face is not 95% of the screen and the movie is not 5% in the corner with the sound down and your voice all the way up like practically every other reaction on here. then on the introduction, your not trying to get a tv or movie deal with your explaining and over explaining of what your reacting to. No big music overlay, etc. You just announce and the movie starts and you describe what's going on and how it's effecting you, you don't go off on a side subject, relating to your youth, someone you know, another movie, trying to remember other movies the actors have been in., the morality of what their doing is so wrong and telling us why it's wrong, when we know it's a movie, but they want to impress the viewer, you don't do that. You don't stop the movie and go into an kind of tirade about facts and figures , statistics, etc. You let the movie speak for itself. You let us the viewer, feel like we have the intelligence to know what's going on and you don't have to break down every scene so that we idiots will know what's going on. I just described practically every reactor on here, but I'm so tired of watching people overreacting to these movies. You can almost see the sign on their chest that says, " All I need is a Agent". Please keep up the good work and I'll keep enjoying your reactions.

    Here we go again? Time to enter the horrific mind of Hannibal Lechter and the chase for "Buffalo Bill." Anthony Hopkins' version of Hannibal Lechter is/was an epic display of acting. A predator on the hunt, cold/dead Shark eyes, slipping into Clarice Starling's mind toot suite.

    I wanted to share with you my favorite classic movie EVER!! You are going to LOVE it. It's called "SOMEWHERE IN TIME" starring Christopher Reeves. Oh man, it doesn't get better than this. Trust me. The greatest movie of all time. I will be so excited when you react to it. ❤️🙏. I wish I could pay you to react to it. But my funds are so tight right now. So I'll just beg. 🙏🙏😂

    Hi guys, I recommend you to react to the song “Tank park salut” by Billy Bragg. It’s so deep and so beautiful, a real gemstone. Even it’s about a father I’m dedicating it to my mother who passed away July the 06th, 2022. This pain is killing me. Sleep well mom. 💔🌹🥺😭

    Why was the original video taken down?

    • @annemaclean6634
      @annemaclean6634 2 года назад +3

      I'm assuming that there must have been something that RUclips didn't like so it was blocked. I think, although I don't know, that George would have had to re-edit the video which must have been a bit of a pain. Never mind, it's back now!

    Hi, George and fans... Can you all do me a favor and nominate BE KIND REWIND (2007) for a reaction? I can't contribute these days, but it would greatly cheer me up to watch you react to this AMAZING film. It is one of the best, off-the-radar movies i've seen in ages, and I know you and your fans will be crazy about it. I sure do love this channel... You could introduce it to many new fans and reactors ...! Thank you very much!

      @annemaclean6634 2 года назад +1

      Hi there, I do hope the film is posted to Patreon for you but when, who knows? Another week and it will be August, so far this month just one reaction. The last full film reaction on Patreon was in May - I don't know what's going on. Hope you're doing okay. All the best.

      @@annemaclean6634 Hi, yes I'm wondering the same. I was also expecting a new poll as well. I dont watch TV much at all these days so my entertainment I pay for are these reaction channels. So waiting on Vanilla Sky has been a bit frustrating lol. But only bc his reactions are great and I've been so eager to see the full reaction. Last full was in May. Wow. Hope to see a turnaround soon.

      @@PrimitiveFilmGroup Yes, it's very frustrating, I've actually cancelled Patreon now and it was a difficult decision to make. There is so much inactivity on this channel now, especially with regard to Patreon, George hasn't replied to any of my messages since the middle of June and of course no full film reactions since May. Anyway, the best of luck and I do hope you get your full film reaction. Take care.

      @@annemaclean6634 Hi, hope all is well, have you heard any update on the channel? I'm still subscribed here and just recently subscribed to the music Patreon channel as well. Are they away for a while?

      @@PrimitiveFilmGroup Hi there, I'm fine, but it's a bit of a roller coaster of emotions in the UK at the moment as you probably know! George and Patrick were away on holiday, I think, for most of August and first week in September but I'm not sure of the exact length of time. They are back now and doing reactions on BroAction, both on Patreon and RUclips, they started again on 10th September. As for this channel, I've no idea, I haven't heard from George, gosh, since June, and of course his last reaction was in July. I've written him loads of messages but he's never replied, must admit I get a bit carried away with writing messages sometimes, especially when I don't get a reply! I just don't know what's going on, I really do hope that George will start reacting on here again, it was a year this September when he started the channel and it would be an awful shame to let it lapse. I'm still subscribed on both channels and on Patreon, I did cancel this one, but I rejoined as I do want to support George, so I'm still here for the moment! It's difficult to know what to do, isn't it? Do we just hope that things are going to change and keep supporting George, or do we cancel? I'll let it go for the moment and see what happens. I hope you're doing well too, all the best. 😊😊

      Psycho is a superb black and white film by Alfred Hitchcock, from 1960. The tension and suspense in this film is incredible and of course the music is amazing!
