This shop has been extended a few times over the years. First was opening up to access the conservatory which the original small layout that was extended into the conservatory which has since been dismantled to increase more space for stock.
Where the model kits are now once stood a wall, since opened up and extended to display the kits and tools, also the new layout was built, that happened as there was another model shop in Wakefield that closed down that necessary for us to extend the shop to stock the model kits and paints.
I work there 3 days a week, mostly doing repairs/servicing customers locos, and also testing and servicing shop stock locos as u see on the shelves. Also do DCC decoder fitting, and technical help. And also supporting Jon helping out in the shop when he gets ready for exhibitions when he loads the van, or depending on the distance that hes having to go early on the day to get there on the long distance ones which i run the shop. Sometimes i help out on the bigger local exhibitions.

Going Loco is my local shop. I have had some real bargains from them. The staff are always nice to deal with too. As someone has already mentioned its great to be able to get up close and feel the product, unlike the internet. I really enjoy been able to actually get a true grasp of size especially with buildings, I know how they will be on the layout. It is a great shop and business.

I like making the Kitmaster kits. The toolings are well and truly knackered but with patience, Tamiya extra thin cement, Vallejo paints and some good weathering pencils can make a good looking wagon for a tenner.

Rick and Pauline. A marvellous video, mainly because Going Loco is my local model railway shop.
Not many are left now sadly, but always worth a visit to GL and see the latest stock, have a rummage through the second hand and also pick up magazines and catalogs.

great video and this probably is the best way to run a model railway shop today , Familyowned, in a nice suburb, in your own property, (probably and in the old days the shopkeeper used to live upstairs) and they are also doing business online. I wish the shop and its owners all the best ! Thanks !

Another great shop tour. Thanks for doing these and supporting loco or should I say local model shops. I love rummaging around the second hand items and the boxes of odd bits and bobs. I grew up in Yorkshire now I am on the other side of the world. We have very few shop like this down under, nowhere near the amount in the UK. I always like to support our local shop though. There's always a treasure or two when I pop in. Shout out to Mayland Models in WA. Keep supporting your local shops.

Hi Rick & Pauline, next time you go into that shop, ask the owner if he wouldn't adopt me?
Tell him, I'm a good cook & love trains, maybe that helps.😜
Now serious, what a nice shop and an exquisite range for for everyone, new, second hand, scenery and craft materials I really love it.
This is actually not good for my blood pressure, so manny goodies.
That is what I miss here, as a Belgian British collector, not to be able to go on a regular base, into a shop where everything is what's my domain of intrest.
But It's defiantly on my bucket list, to plan a road trip and do some model shop hopping in the UK.
Does the shop do internet trading, and is there a website?
In the meanwhile I go and run my kettles🤣
By the way, the nick name we Belgian train drivers give to diesel loco's are "stove pipes" 😜
    Cheers,
    Danny

At 4:40 , the shop owner is too polite to correct you that there is nothing diesel about the booster locomotives at all. Pure electric but flywheel type arrangement to provide its own electricity for third rail gaps etc.
In shops i often hear staff not wanting to correct some even more far fetched ideas in case that might create friction and lose a sale.
