Canon VIXIA HV40 - Random Test Footage

- Testing my old Canon VIXIA HV40 (MiniDV/HDV) camcorder in various conditions. I think it still have good enough Picture Quality to this day. And also i've added some real film grain and colorgrading to achieve film look. The only problem is that MiniDV cassette is almost hard to find now. LOL.
All footage recorded at 24F (23,976 fps), 1/48 Shutter Speed and with Cine Mode. Transfered via Firewire 1394 straight from camcorder. Captured and Edited with Adobe Premiere Pro 2019.
Thanks for watching!
Oh and please watch in 1440p to see the Highest Quality and Resolution. Because of RUclips's horrible compression with grainy videos, so i upscaled the video to 1440p in order to maintain the Picture Quality and the film grain. So it forces RUclips to allocate much more Bitrate at 1440p.

Hi everyone. I just want to continue to use this camera again to post another test footage. But, sadly, in this November 2023, my Canon Vixia HV40 LCD Screen viewfinder has a problem and won't turn on again. But, the camera is still operates normally. I already checked camera services around my city. But none of them have the LCD Screen spare part for this old Canon camera. And also all the batteries are nearly died (i only have 3 batteries but only can last +/- 5 minutes each) and no local camera service in my city have this battery. So, the alternative way is by buying it Online from eBay or AliExpress. And unfortunately, i don't have much money and i'm poor right now. But i still want to post another test footage from this old camera. Please kindly if you can send me and donate me some money to fix the dead LCD Screen and purchase new batteries to my PayPal link below:

I will remove this post if the donation/money reaching $200.
Thank you all very much. And have a nice day.
Hey, what other videos have you created with the canon Vixia Hv. 40
this is more cinematic than most modern cameras lol
He added film grain and colorgrading though.
@@mikehunt4986 yes, but it is done very well, unlike most youtube "cinematic" videos where they slap shitty lut on top and call it a day
@@apmanti12 I totally agree! I wish I was as talented as he or she is!
@@mikehunt4986 there's a lot of davinci tutorials out there to get you started, just get some free stock footage and start practicing or film something yourself, even filming your cat will be fine to start
This camera at 24p setting was and is amazing, and the camera has features that went away on other later cameras. This still has a place in the tool box provided a low light is not what you need to deal with. A warm film look.
Could you make a tutorial of the effects and colorgrading you added ? This looks fantastic !
this is unreal. the best film simulation i've seen. that's HDV for you!
This looks like videos from 70s really cool!
We need more videos recorded with this camera!
This is beautiful footage. I got a Sony TRV17 MiniDV camcorder in late 2001 and was happy with it. Now I am retroactively jealous that it wasn't HD and didn't produce video like this.
Looks great. I’ve had this camera stowed away for years. Need to bring it back out and shoot!
I have this camera tucked away - I was actually thinking about taking it for a test spin again and this got me excited to do it again. Footage looks pretty darn good for a prosumer minidv camcorder
I just grabbed one today and I’m so excited this video completely inspired me and made me realize this is why I bought the camera
It's beautiful
I used to have an HV40. I miss it, but I watch this and could totally see some creative applications for it today.
Love the music!
Do you have a link to download the raw file? Marvelous footage!!
really beautiful footage !
fantastic
Very nice footage.
fucking insane how good this looks
This is really nice did u record on mini dv? I wanted to try to record on sd but it wouldnt work
hello, I have legria hv 40, maybe the technology is old, but the video effect is great, the memory card is not the same as the old hdv tape
Cool video.
and worst is that it's imposible to export footage to new computers
What kind of grain and color correction (workflow) do u used on this video?
Hv 40 cinematic cam.
