    Thanks for the very complete review. It’s a shame the camera’s MagSafe can’t be used for the SSD drive.

    Why don't you get high quality short cable for the ssd instead of using those adapter that might you never know if they cause any problems with connection to the usb c?

    Does the cage wont block for USB-C? Like putting the receiver of the DJI mic? ( Phone Adapter)

    Thanks for this video! Does the magsafe battery pack fit if you remove the filter holder? And what is the distance between those two little lip protrusions in the middle of the rear side of the case? Do they protrude too far for a magsafe battery to attach even if you remove the filter holder?
    My magsafe batteries are 69mm wide, so I'm trying to find a Cage that will allow the batteries to still squeeze on to the back of the camera.

      The magsafe battery pack fits if it's a Pro max. A Pro doesn't fit with that cage.

    Can you add third party 37 mm lenses and want scratch your lenses accidentally when putting your phone in the cage I assume much similar to small rig

    You can use M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD Enclosure from JEYI. This reader has 1/4 mount specially for this case and can max to 8TB. Also another reader from JEYI (M.2 NVMe 2230 SSD Enclosure) has size 40mm X 20mm X 8mm, and can max to 2TB with to direct TypeC connector. Both have speeds up to 10Gbps.

    What about the 67mm adapter - Is it very does hold securely? Over time, the fastening will not loosen?

      so far so good ... filter ring is fine ... the filter adapter on the cage could get knocked off a lil bit easy tho' ... having said that it did not happen to me yet

    Looks sweet. What’s the 1/4 20’ thread depth compared to the small rig one? Thanks

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl

      not sure how to measure that exactly ... they seem normal?

    • @ShortStoryInspiration
      @ShortStoryInspiration 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl haha “normal” 😂 all good I figured it out. The standard for camera cages is 8mm, both small rig and this are 6.5mm.
      It’s good to know so people avoid screwing into the iPhone frame with longer screws

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl
      @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl  8 месяцев назад

      @@ShortStoryInspiration well you have a silicone gasket around the frame inside the cage so that should protect the phone anyways

    I have a question, can I used that case with my iPhone 14 Pro Max? Because I can find another case like this.

    • @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl
      @MichaelSchmidt_UrbnPxl  6 месяцев назад

      Well only real issue might be the “do not disturb” switch on the left side since that is now a button and I’m not sure of the size of the camera assembly did change … so I guess it might not be the best option 😅

    Looks a really nice cage and compared to many other solutions I really do like the way to mount filters. It is the best I have seen so far.
    With regards to SSD mounting I am always a little confused why so many people are trying to find a solution to mounting a SSD as by the time you have messed around and spent out all the extra things including an SSD you might as well have the spent the extra for 1 TB version of the iPhone and not worry about all the SSD's hanging off the back.
    My calculations say 256GB of 4K ProRes HQ at 24fps will fill in just under 1 hour. so even with a phone that size you can then just download it onto a drive during a break.
    When filming documentary footage on my Canon R7 I use 128gb cards and never get through even one in a day let alone two.

      There's a few benefits of working directly on an external drive. For one, it keeps your personal files separate from your work. I can capture footage, and easily share the drive with others. The other benefit is being able to edit directly off the drive from my Mac for easier workflow without transferring.

    • @WargodFilms
      @WargodFilms 8 месяцев назад

      To add to that you can’t record ProRes without the ssd you can with bmp camera app lets you record straight to the device. Why all these other companies can forgot apples products better then them. Straight to ssd is convenient but it should be an option to record internally

    • @DaveKnowlesFilmmaker
      @DaveKnowlesFilmmaker 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@WargodFilms I think that in fact Apple are being very clever. They have teamed up with BlackMagic to have a fully professional app made and therefore there is little point in them producing an app that would probably be nowhere as good. Also I am sure that Apple realise that the number of people that will use ProRes especially as the other codecs are very good is very limited.
      As for using the internal drive I feel it is so much safer than using a SSD hanging off the back with the problems of a USB adapter in the way at the side and with regards to the argument that it makes life simpler just not having to transfer off the files which are in a separate folder and not mixed up with personal files I think is just so many on RUclips have sold as the way to go without considering the down sides of it. If my Canon camera had a 1TB internal drive I certainly would not go buying expensive SD cards.
