Shared Accommodation is not right for many people, I’ve been physically assaulted by a private landlord & threatened by other tenants in the house in these kind of places. They should make half of all new builds council properties till they have replaced what was sold off too many landlords cashing in with high rents because of demand for housing.
Lived in Donny all my life. Worked in town pubs, it used to be a great night out with coaches coming from all over full of people looking for a good night out. It's a rough shit hole now, gone right down the pan in the last 20 years. Shootings and stabbings every other day, fighting all the time, immigrants have taken over, smack rats robbing and begging everywhere you go. I'm married to a Romanian woman, and I *love* visiting Romania. It's safe as houses, people are friendly, family oriented, attend church, and there's some beautiful parts to the country that I'd love to live in, for example Cluj. Strongly recommend you take a trip there Billy, instead of Turkey. Go explore there and show your followers what you find.

One guy had lost his ciggies and asked if he could by one off me, I said no have it for free, the next day he went out of his way to find me in the factory and gave me a full pack of ciggies to say thank you.
There was a cafe that used to serve full-cooked English breakfasts ect. Rhythem Nation records. Donny shooters. Rothwells chippy etc. All these shops seem to have closed down as soon as the immigrants arrived and started buying up all the shops. i remember speaking to one of the shop owners and he was complaining about all the immigrants moving in, said it was a nightmare, a few months later he decided to move.

Many eastern european roma people from Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary live in Ireland and before/after Brexit have moved here, too. Now it is one big sh*thole, I never go down town since my father passed away in 2020….the degradation of the shopping experience coupled with the growing demographic makes me feel sick. I bumped into an old man in Sainsbury’s who told me of how he lived in Hexthorpe and was scared to go out because of the crime and violence…..he started to cry recalling that he couldn’t escape…. If I’d a lottery fortune I would have rescued him, just breaks my heart to see everything good replaced with barber shops, vape shops, bookmakers, dubious foreign supermarkets, slot arcades, or being boarded up…. Doncaster is now a total embarrassment, I’m glad my father can no longer see these changes….💔

You can try to get there for a weekend. You will be amazed if you go to Bucharest or anywhere in the country. You don't have to spend more than £2-300, but it will be worth any penny!
I’ve lived in Doncaster all my life and the difference between now and twenty years ago is massive it’s got that bad I don’t even go into the town centre anymore, the market place was always busy on Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays and was a great place to get some bargains but them days are long gone. The last time I was in town I felt like I was in a foreign country and most of the stores i once new are all closed so no point in going into town anymore, the government and councils have a lot to answer for for turning my once beautiful town into a shit whole and for allowing this foreign invasion. Doncaster has always been a good place to let your hair down with great nightlife but it’s not safe anymore, I remember the days when you could walk around all by yourself grab something to eat and have a steady walk home but it’s just not safe to do that these days. That building you showed with the graffiti on it I’m sure that used to be the transport and general workers union building, don’t even get me started on Copley road it’s become a no go zone the same goes for netherhall road and Hexthorpe it’s just full of undesirables. The Labour Council have destroyed this once great town and I for one will never bring myself to ever voting for them again, so much money has been wasted on stupid projects instead of looking after the people and businesses it’s really sad.
@ none of them are perfect and you forgot Rossington and Armthorpe if you want to name a few more, my point is that the places I mentioned from what I’ve seen and heard are now no go areas. Hexthorpe used to be a lovely area I spent many years going to the park and I had relatives living in the area, I wouldn’t walk through that park now unless I had a bullet proof vest on and a shot gun. The way the laws have changed over the years haven’t helped, you see kids riding stolen motorcycles and the police won’t do a dam thing and these kids know it that’s why they don’t wear helmets because the police are under orders not to chase after them. The seventies,eighties and even the nineties were great times in Doncaster but sadly those days have gone and I can’t see it getting any better.

If you’d have gone straight over when you said nether hall road you would’ve had a short walk to the top of the street and that’s where they operate on the corners. Also when you come back to Doncaster go to hexthorpe .! Many years ago they moved hundreds of Romanians into houses there. Feel sorry for the homeowners who now can’t sell their house .

Doncaster was surprisingly clean and bustling and looks prosperous compared to some of these other small towns and cities. It's bound to be quiet just after Xmas but I was impressed at the number of occupied shops. The homeless man who said he couldn't get help maybe doesn't realise that if he has a mental health condition that makes it difficult for him to live amongst other people then he can get an exemption and be housed on his own. Although of course there are limited social housing stocks as Thatcher sold them all off and didn't replace them, hence the mess we are currently in. Build more social housing and rents in the private sector will go down as well.
Re the rents will never go down because a good number of years ago, new build and conversion (like offices) social housing is allowed to be charged at about 90% of average market rent for the area so most people can't afford that if they qualify for social housing waiting list. The only actual affordable housing is the older social housing. Though Housing Associations are allowed to up the service charge so much it's questionable if some of them are affordable any more. This creates ghettos in places where the average rents are expensive, where the only people who can afford to live in the new build social housing are on full benefits.
@@thathurt Even those on full benefits often can't afford to live there either if they're liable for the bedroom tax, the most ridiculous 'housing' policy ever devised. Pensioners were exempt and could carry on living in 3 and 4 bedroom homes (I don't have an issue with that, for many it was their 'home for life') and there was very little one bedroom housing available for people to downsize into so the policy was exposed for what it actually was, a tax on people's benefits, like shooting fish in a barrel as they had nowhere to move to so just had to pay the shortfall, often from disability benefits that weren't calculated to include rent costs. These homeless single people would previously have been housed in the 'hard to let' high rises etc but now they aren't if there's more than one bedroom as they don't qualify due to the bedroom tax. Plus they put a stop to automatic entitlement to a single tenancy in the private sector under LHA, now people are expected to share. Ultimately though we have to see the housing market as one interconnected thing, pressure in one area creates demand in another which in turn creates a shortage and unaffordable rents/mortgages etc. Anyone who bought into the whole 'housing boom' and became a private buy to let landlord, creaming off millions in housing benefit from the taxpayer is scum in my opinion.
There's surprisingly allot of footfall in doncaster but we struggle to get investment from big shops etc. Around the council building is a nice developed area. A nice cinema and units are slowly filling up.

I’m from Barnsley the town all South Yorkshire is raving about since it’s been ‘done up’. I frequently travel to Donny to visit HMV with me being a music and film fan and from what I’ve seen it seems very clean and the hmv is better than the one at Meadowhall. Barnsley on the other hand is just a drinking town. And the glassworks is deserted.

@@yorkshirepud01 I caught the train over to Doncaster in May 2023. I hadn't been over there in years. I was shocked at how deprived the place looked. It's not just Doncaster that looks deprived though. It seems to be the same in other towns, cities and seaside resorts. The UK is dire.

Many eastern european roma people from Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary live in Ireland and before/after Brexit have moved here, too. Unfortunately, there is a higher crime and unemployment rate statistics amongst roma people. I don't think it is right that Ireland is welcoming high numbers of males from middle east/africa (many undocumented) on top of serious housing crisis. In last 5 years there has been increase in serious crimes comitted by immigrants here in Ireland. And yes, Slovakia, Czechia, Rimania, Poland...we have our own minorities (roma is the highest, then other nationalities - rusins, hungarians in south Slovakia, etc). Born and bred here….. I’m not saying Donny was ever a shining light, but it used to be filled with joy and families, it buzzed, and everywhere seemed safe……. Now it is one big sh*thole, I never go down town since my father passed away in 2020….the degradation of the shopping experience coupled with the growing demographic makes me feel sick. I bumped into an old man in Sainsbury’s who told me of how he lived in Hexthorpe and was scared to go out because of the crime and violence…..he started to cry recalling that he couldn’t escape…. If I’d a lottery fortune I would have rescued him, just breaks my heart to see everything good replaced with barber shops, vape shops, bookmakers, dubious foreign supermarkets, slot arcades, or being boarded up…. Doncaster is now a total embarrassment, I’m glad my father can no longer see these changes….💔

You can try to get there for a weekend. You will be amazed if you go to Bucharest or anywhere in the country. You don't have to spend more than £2-300, but it will be worth any penny!
I’ve lived in Doncaster all my life and the difference between now and twenty years ago is massive it’s got that bad I don’t even go into the town centre anymore, the market place was always busy on Tuesday, Friday and Saturdays and was a great place to get some bargains but them days are long gone. The last time I was in town I felt like I was in a foreign country and most of the stores i once new are all closed so no point in going into town anymore, the government and councils have a lot to answer for for turning my once beautiful town into a shit whole and for allowing this foreign invasion. Doncaster has always been a good place to let your hair down with great nightlife but it’s not safe anymore, I remember the days when you could walk around all by yourself grab something to eat and have a steady walk home but it’s just not safe to do that these days. That building you showed with the graffiti on it I’m sure that used to be the transport and general workers union building, don’t even get me started on Copley road it’s become a no go zone the same goes for netherhall road and Hexthorpe it’s just full of undesirables. The Labour Council have destroyed this once great town and I for one will never bring myself to ever voting for them again, so much money has been wasted on stupid projects instead of looking after the people and businesses it’s really sad.

@ none of them are perfect and you forgot Rossington and Armthorpe if you want to name a few more, my point is that the places I mentioned from what I’ve seen and heard are now no go areas. Hexthorpe used to be a lovely area I spent many years going to the park and I had relatives living in the area, I wouldn’t walk through that park now unless I had a bullet proof vest on and a shot gun. The way the laws have changed over the years haven’t helped, you see kids riding stolen motorcycles and the police won’t do a dam thing and these kids know it that’s why they don’t wear helmets because the police are under orders not to chase after them. The seventies,eighties and even the nineties were great times in Doncaster but sadly those days have gone and I can’t see it getting any better.

Doncaster was surprisingly clean and bustling and looks prosperous compared to some of these other small towns and cities. It's bound to be quiet just after Xmas but I was impressed at the number of occupied shops. The homeless man who said he couldn't get help maybe doesn't realise that if he has a mental health condition that makes it difficult for him to live amongst other people then he can get an exemption and be housed on his own. Although of course there are limited social housing stocks as Thatcher sold them all off and didn't replace them, hence the mess we are currently in. Build more social housing and rents in the private sector will go down as well.
Re the rents will never go down because a good number of years ago, new build and conversion (like offices) social housing is allowed to be charged at about 90% of average market rent for the area so most people can't afford that if they qualify for social housing waiting list. The only actual affordable housing is the older social housing. Though Housing Associations are allowed to up the service charge so much it's questionable if some of them are affordable any more. This creates ghettos in places where the average rents are expensive, where the only people who can afford to live in the new build social housing are on full benefits.
@@thathurt Even those on full benefits often can't afford to live there either if they're liable for the bedroom tax, the most ridiculous 'housing' policy ever devised. Pensioners were exempt and could carry on living in 3 and 4 bedroom homes (I don't have an issue with that, for many it was their 'home for life') and there was very little one bedroom housing available for people to downsize into so the policy was exposed for what it actually was, a tax on people's benefits, like shooting fish in a barrel as they had nowhere to move to so just had to pay the shortfall, often from disability benefits that weren't calculated to include rent costs. These homeless single people would previously have been housed in the 'hard to let' high rises etc but now they aren't if there's more than one bedroom as they don't qualify due to the bedroom tax. Plus they put a stop to automatic entitlement to a single tenancy in the private sector under LHA, now people are expected to share. Ultimately though we have to see the housing market as one interconnected thing, pressure in one area creates demand in another which in turn creates a shortage and unaffordable rents/mortgages etc. Anyone who bought into the whole 'housing boom' and became a private buy to let landlord, creaming off millions in housing benefit from the taxpayer is scum in my opinion.
There's surprisingly allot of footfall in doncaster but we struggle to get investment from big shops etc. Around the council building is a nice developed area. A nice cinema and units are slowly filling up.

I frequently travel to Donny to visit HMV with me being a music and film fan and from what I’ve seen it seems very clean and the hmv is better than the one at Meadowhall. Barnsley on the other hand is just a drinking town. And the glassworks is deserted.
People who rave about barnsley go to that 100 metre square done up area. Heard they bribed companies to come to that and now allot of them aren't renewing lease
@ that’s true. The council persuaded businesses to set up shop with 2 year rent free. TGI Fridays has gone now. Most of the glass works shopping area is just empty lots that have never had a business there. The bars are thriving though apparently
@@triggercky9928 also the two biggest shops in the glass works tk maxx and next have just moved over from the old Alhambra shopping centre which is now next door to being derelict with the lack of shops
PAUL 🇬🇧 From Blair there as been a deliberate plan to import 10 million + foreign born peoples into the UK. Eastern Europe ( except Ukraine ) is not poor. Look at Poland, the Baltic nations, Hungary. I'm from Merseyside and it's like being in an Eastern European or Islamic caliphate Country. People should watch ( Joe Owens ) podcast ( Talking Sense ).
