You really should find a way to protect the terminals. An easy way is to take a sheet of clear acrylic and heat it up with a heat gun on high for 30-60 seconds. Hold it up against a straight edge like a straight 2x4 and bend a few inches over the side. Do the same thing with the other side so the you can have a "cap" to go over the top of the terminals.

great build! I really enjoy your ideas and layout. I see the two different links for batteries in the description. Did you get the ones for this build from AliExpress or docan? I assume the main difference is ship time. Also, the bms you linked is for a 7s lion but it looks like you have 8s lifepo4. Is that because the 8s lifepo4 cells is close enough to 7s lion voltage?

Thanks, i fixed the BMS link. I linked to the wrong BMS. You need to use a lifePO4 BMS with lifePO4 batteries. I bought my batteries from Aliexpress for $300 but they took 5 months to arrive. Painful!

30 pounds is not heavy. Weight savings is a prime reason people are using LiFEP04 batteries. Comparably speaking, 30-plus pounds for a LiFEP04 battery pack compared to the weight of a lead acid battery pack of the same capacity although not negligible, will be a helluva lot lighter. A lead acid battery pack of similar capacity would weigh well over 100 pounds. With that in mind, 30 pounds is not that much weight.

NMC would be even less weight but people are opting for heavier LiFeP04 mostly based on cycle life. I'm not too concerned about NMC safety, its not 2004. Name brand cells and proper charging make it nearly as safe as LiFeP04....until someone does something stupid.
