    This video almost killed my 2013 MacBook, haha! I hope that it will be helpful to some, if anything seems confusing or if you have questions, let me know. Perhaps I can do another like this in the future just concentrating on taking one photo and a proper step-by-step tutorial mentioning exact tools used etc. I know some of this was sped up and I don't mention what commands I used sometimes, I had to cut a lot of this video out including many other photos taken in this garden, so I hope what is left makes sense :) Have a great day!

    Hi Liesl - Thank you for your video. I am trying to take my flower photos to the next level, and I think your tutorial will be helpful. In particular, the pace of the video (not too fast!) made the steps relatively easy for me to follow. I also appreciated that in addition to explaining the steps you were taking, you also discuss the look you are trying to achieve. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

    Really enjoyable video Liesl, your presentation on how you process your images are first class. I’m sure this video will help a lot of photographers. I always find it very interesting how other photographers process their images. Your right about getting your settings right in camera first, that is so important. Lovely images as always 👌 I hope your McBook is ok. 🤞 Thanks for sharing it with us 👍. Cliff

      Thanks Cliff! I had fun making this video but I know this old MacBook will not let me do that again. It is ok now, but it just can't handle those large files, I have deleted them. I've had it for 7 years so I guess sometime soon I'll need to upgrade, it's just been a faithful tool for me every day since I got it and I don't like buying something that expensive if I can help it at all LOL
      I'm going to send you a message sometime on IG to send you a link to my oldest son's Capstone project, remember we talked about it on the "Winter Solstice" video from Robber's Cave. :)

    Hi Liesl, fascinating to see how you edit your flower shots. It's always such an eye-opener to see someone else in action. Thanks, I learned a lot! I always photograph flowers on my travels (I'm secretly hoping I'll find some obscure new species!) but rarely capture any shots I feel comfortable sharing. I'll have to try some of these techniques. I was interested to see how you use the Multiply blend mode. Have you ever had a go doing the same kind of thing with 'Hard Mix' with flow set to between 1% to 4%? I use it for wildlife - it's quite an interesting blend mode to play with.

    • @LieslHuddleston
      @LieslHuddleston  4 года назад +1

      I have not tried Hard Mix, but I will play with that next time, thanks! This summer has been brutal and I haven't been outside for photography at all, looking forward to some cooler temperatures. I hope you get to find some interesting flowers when things get better there too!

    In love with your videos! I am planning to buy a macro lens for my iPhone 11 pro.. Which brand would you recommend? Olloclip or Moment? ❤️ from Bangladesh 🇧🇩😊

    • @LieslHuddleston
      @LieslHuddleston  4 года назад

      Thank you, I'm glad you are enjoying the videos :)
      You are in luck! It looks like Olloclip has greatly improved their clip for the iPhone 11's both pro and pro max. In that case my personal choice/recommendation would be Olloclip over Moment, because Olloclip has a variety of macro lenses, 7x, 10x, 14x, 15x, 21x. And their lenses are very good. I bought a set that has 7x, 14x & 21x. I use them all but I use 14x the most (not too close, but close enough to make a pleasing image.)
      Moment is very good as well and I use the Moment macro lens a lot, the main reason why I use it the most is because it has a case that stays on my phone the whole time and all I need to do is put the lens on, the glass is very good - just like Olloclip but it has a much wider angle or field of view which produces a slightly different look (you see more of the background) and so if I have a lot of time and have time to take the case off, I will change to Olloclip.
      I don't recommend Olloclip as much for Xs Max like my phone or others that have the clunky style clip as mine does, I keep knocking it off my phone, dropped it hard on concrete the other day.
      But, since you have the newer iPhone you should not have this problem, I must say though, I have not heard anything good or bad about the new clip, I'm just basing my opinion on what it looks like on their website, and it looks a lot like the clip I had way back when I had an iPhone 4s and I loved that clip.
      So overall, you can't go wrong with either Olloclip or Moment, but at this point, for your particular phone, I would give the edge and higher rating to Olloclip! I hope this was helpful, let me know if you want to know anything else or if what I said didn't make sense haha!

    • @Rishat23
      @Rishat23 4 года назад

      @Liesl Huddleston Thanks so so much for your detailed explanation! I really appreciate it!! I will go with the Olloclip as it fits my budget perfectly. I am just getting into macro photography and ordered my first macro lens (Laowa 60mm 2.8 2:1 from venus optics) which I will use with my Sony A73. Your channel will be very helpful for me and I am sure I will learn a lot from you! Keep spreading the talent you have.. Stay blessed and stay safe! ❤️😊

      @@Rishat23 Ooo, I have my eye on that Laowa lens, it looks amazing! I hope you will enjoy the Olloclip lenses, I've had many hours of fun over the years with the little macro lenses, takes a little bit of practice to get used to, but it's a lot of fun discovering new subjects to see up close :) Let me know how things go. 👋

    • @Rishat23
      @Rishat23 4 года назад

      Liesl Huddleston everything about the Laowa is positivie other than the fact that its a manual lens so I have to work hard in this case but the good news is Laowa has an automatic version only for Canon cameras 😊 Sure I let you know how thing goes both for Olloclip and Laowa.. and mark my word.. You channel is going to be really popular in no time! Keep up the good work.. Good luck 😊👍

    How you are making money flower photography?

    • @LieslHuddleston
      @LieslHuddleston  4 года назад +1

      I don't make any money from flower or nature photography. This YT channel was recently monetized, but it probably won't even cover the costs of making the videos and paying for the music licenses. The only way I think you can make a meaningful amount is to conduct workshops where you teach others how to take photos and they pay you for that knowledge. It should be very well organized and beneficial to those paying. It is getting harder and harder for anyone to sell photography though because it's so easily available for free on the internet. I have however made money doing portrait and wedding photography, but I don't enjoy it as much as nature photography I hope this answers your question. :)
