Ah yes, the famous aircraft designers and engineers in comments...
This tupolev was caught in a downward air stream during the snowstorm, as a result - an overload from the impact, far exceeding the aircraft's capabilities. There was nothing pilots could do.

Yeah that’s what I’m arguing against, is the Russian engineers. I’ve seen Concorde land harder than that and it didn’t crumble like it was held together by speed tape. That landing would cause damage to any airplane but they are generally specifically designed to not break in half if you do have a hard landing, because downdrafts right before you enter ground effect are very common. Maybe the Russian engineers still need to figure that out still

Airplanes are made of aluminum alloys. They have s fixed stress life. The airplanes need to be inspected for cracks. What's odd is that Russia rebuilt their remaining Tu-22M a while back. If this is a rebuilt unit it doesn't bode well for the rest of the fleet. If these planes are flying around with nukes Russia is at a very high risk for a "broken arrow" type incident.

    • @gravelking2.071
      @gravelking2.071 4 года назад +6

Military planes have far less takoff-landing cycles than civilian ones. USAF flies ther 60 years old B52s without any issues.
As for the accident - it was the downwards airstream in a snowstorm, and a touchdown with a serious overload. Nothing to do with pilot's skills or aircraft.

WoW Best Landscape art I even seen from Russia! 100 Points!
    Bold approach... 20 points.
Forward nose ditch + loop below aircraft 40 points!
Oppulent light show effect 30 points.
Ellegant slide on surface 10 points
Most creative very artistic and with such ellegance!
    No american can top that!
Needs classic music...to support the ellegance
Very dramaturgisticly! Like a Swan !
Would have been even better if the Pilots walked out safe, saying ..." what's up? Something wrong? Just parked the aircraft
I wonder where they learn such piloting ? At the Pushkin AFB academy?
How is this called ? The Russian transformation agenda processing old stuff for new aircraft
    in artistic ways? Wow!

The plane broke in half before it even landed it seems. That shows poor structural integrity of the TU22.
