Excellent video. I might add that the object used to pry open the laptop is just a guitar pick. I purchased an 8GB Patriot Viper DDR4 PC4-21300 2666MHz memory card and had it installed as fast as the video - thanks to the perfection of the video.
The hardest part was unscrewing some of the screws. This is not rocket science for anyone. I'm a 61 year old gal and did it without problems. My Lenovo Ideapad 330 works a lot better with the additional memory!

Here I'm gonna answer all users' most common questions related to this Laptop so I hope that helps you guys.
*Does this Laptop support adding extra RAM?*
Yes, It does but it's either gonna be 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB.
*What is the most recommended extra RAM size for this Laptop?*
It's either a 4GB RAM with a pass of 2133GHz to activate Dual Channel mode for an extra 30% in performance or 8GB RAM with a pass of 2133/2400GHz but this time, you won't have Dual Channel since it requires the RAM to be of the same size and the same pass.
*Will adding another RAM into the laptop improve the overall performance?*
Yes, it does. Internal GPU of the Laptop does consume at least 2GB of your total RAM size and after adding another RAM, it might consume till around 3.5GB and leave you with a free 5GB in average which is a major upgrade than the previous free 2GB. Still, playig a game as an example doesn't let the internal GPU consume RAM which means that you can use almost all your RAM size when playing a game or something.
*Can I add an SSD into this Laptop?*
Yes, you can and it's preferable to be a hybrid mode by removing your DVD ROM and buying a Caddy where you put your old 1TB HDD and insert the new SSD into the old HDD spot and as for why It's because your main HDD slot supports 6GB/s which boosts and improve the capabilities of your SSD while your DVD slot supports 3GB/s which limit the performance of SSD but doesn't affect the performance of HDD at all.
*What is the recommended size and brand of the SSD?*
It's preferable to be a normal (not M2) Samsung 860EVO with a size of 240GB to be used as a boot partition and use your old 1TB HDD as the normal partition for Games, Movies, Work, and stuff.
*Will adding SSD boost the overall performance?*
INSANELY!!! You'll no longer meet lags or slowdowns on the system and everything will take seconds to start instead of long times of waiting, windows take around 10:15 seconds to boot up and be ready to open everything, huge performance and fast loading times for games, programs such as MS Office, Photoshop, and more, open in seconds rather than a whole minute, so it's completely worth it.
*What about Drivers and their updates?*

Just enter the link above and allow the site to update your system automatically so that you don't suffer any problems with any apps later, it's easy as that.
*Any other things you recommend us to get?*
I'd say you could buy a Cooling Pad (a fan) for your laptop to reduce it's heat when it's using the external GPU when running intensive apps such as AAA games and stuff, and I also recommend buying a "Type-C Male to USB 3.0 Female" to your Laptop to be able to use that Type-C slot that you won't use most of the time, an extra USB is a QoL upgrade.
@Mark J A caddy is a replacement to the DVD bay that you just removed from the laptop, it's usually made from metal but some do sell a cheaper types in plastic but I went with the metal one to be safer since who knows if that plastic was cheap enough that it would melt if the laptop overheat causing the HDD to explode or something, it's not safe.
If you meant the original place where your HDD was in before installing anything or the DVD bay itself, both are made with metal, the laptop ain't that cheap.
@Mark J It doesn't have 2 batteries and the current battery which is in the laptop isn't removable but that isn't a problem because once the laptop is fully charged in, it has some system inside which prevent it from charging till it reach 90% or something so don't worry.
@Mark J Multiple models are the same device but the changes are little such as in a version, there is no Keypad but in the other it does, and these two versions physically divide into the rest and those differences are in the system mostly.
But a DVD bay is a DVD bay regardless of the system of the laptop you're inserting this thing in, right?

Yes, most lenovo notebook have build in RAM chips that you cannot remove which in your case have 4GB and they have a spare slot to allow you to upgrade

@@RUclipsGoogle1 I bought a 4GB RAM with a pass of 2133 (same as the RAM inside) and connected it into the laptop and was able to activate Dual Channel which boosts RAM performance by 30% than a regular RAM of the same size.
Also, I connected Samsung 860 EVO with the size of 240GB in it as well which boosted the Laptop performance insanely and I no longer have freezes or lags with the system whenever I open any program and system boot time is 10 seconds if that satisfies you as well and I'm still keeping my 1TB HDD since I'm having both hard drives in the same time (Hybrid).

@@IbnBattutaEG That is great news. I have never been so disappointed with a computer as I am with this Ideapad 330-15IKB. From the moment I boot it up, it freezes and crashes 99% of the time. I cannot even run Internet Explorer with one tab open and File Explorer with one window open. This PC was 100,000 Yen (one thousand US dollars) and it's like something from the 1980s.

if your laptop does not have dvd you cannot use a caddy because your port might not be working

Lenovo usually have soldered RAM chips as the default 4GB and only one empty RAM slot for your expansion

sadly even though I have just put in another 8 gig or RAM so it now has 12 gig, it is still a very, very, very slow computer to boot up.
once booted though it runs about 10 programs without too much trouble, but launching each one takes a very, very long time.
now have a boot time of... about 4 minutes.
4 minutes to boot a pc with 12 gig of RAM.

If you are familiar with the PC in question, you will know that it draws a lot of system memory for shared graphics memory, leaving Windows too little to run even two simple programs smoothly.
Yes this is shitty laptop bought 1.5 year back, did not use it , using my old laptop. Mouse response slow, boot time slow,hang ,taskbar search slow .touchpad is slippery, waste of money.
Is it true that installing a Kingston RAM would result to blue screen? I am planning to add another 16gb RAM to my Lenovo 330 15ARR which I bought in 2019. The technician said I should get a different RAM brand because Kingston acts up unless the one we are installing is also 2400mhz.

Hello, I have a problem I put more ram in my laptop as in the video but when I turn on the pc everything is fine but once I am on the desktop and the ram that I put on it recognizes me, it throws me at a blue screen. Does anyone know what can I do:(

I have the same lenovo ideapad 330-15IKB Laptop Model 81DE. I am glad to know I can upgrade the ram as I tend to multitask and have more open then what the 4gb can sometimes handle. I have also seen in your comments about a hard drive caddy to put a SDD in it. I have no dvd drive in mine just the cover so no loss on that part. What i am wanting to know is that the link you shared to a caddy in a comment as i looked it up. Says thinkpad not ideapad does that matter? If not and that is the one i need to get any suggestions on the SDD should i just get a 500gb and use it for windows and start up stuff and some of the more used programs and use the stock HDD as storage also any brands you recommend? As i'm on a tight budget but you probably knew that if i have the same laptop. Also after i clone the HDD to SDD which i wont ask you how to do i know there are other video's out there. Sorry for all the question's I enjoyed the video very helpful.
yes the caddy will support as long as 9.5mm thinkpad/ideapad does not matter, ya SSD is cheap now can consider 500gb. if save some then 240gb

I have the same laptop and my caps lock button is always stuck on. The light indication on the keyboard for the caps lock will always stay on even if you click off caps lock using on screen keyboard. i have tried to uninstall the keyboard driver but no luck. Anyone know a possible solution by any chance?

Yes usually ideapad 330 have only 1 empty RAM slot. the default RAM is RAM chip solder on to the motherboard so cannot take out.

usually for lenovo laptop usually is single RAM slot so means either you can add 1 RAM into it or you have to take out the original RAM to upgrade another RAM

Cannot remove the original memory as it is soldered / build into the motherboard itself. So only have 1 empty RAM slot to add the RAM which the link is in the description

@@KLGamers this guy here doesn't do his research. There is a soldered ram module on the back side of the motherboard. The ram slot you see here is the extra one on the top side of the motherboard. So you really have two slots, but can only upgrade one of them.

in terms of performance if you want speed you simply just need to change to SSD. Dual channel lost to me is not a big deal but ya another 4GB and a SSD would make the laptop in good speed.
