Dude district 9 is such an underappreciated movie
An good analogy for Apharteid where the prowl in the movie, aliens who were probably civilians and got stuck on Earth due to malfunction in their ship, were heavely discriminated by humans and treated as evil monsters due to their insect like appareance and super human strength
That's to say the least. The way it shows the protagonist's accelerating spiral into desperation, self-destruction in a mad nothing-to-lose-situation beyond any point of no return - is just breathtakingly nerve-wracking. And then seeing him giving it all in that desperately spectacular battle in the end. This scene should be number 1.
For a indie movie, It's a blockbuster...
D9 is one of the best movie ever created, and the exoskeleton scene is the best of everything
American Ben, how could you neglect Pacific Rim?? Nothing says "Humanity first!" like a physics breaking, alien apocalypse cancelling giant robot driven by B-movie actor angst and strict adherence to the rule of cool.
I purposely didn't include Jaegars because they're just too massive to really be categorized with what are mostly form-fitting powered armor and smaller-sized mech suits in this video. We love Pacific Rim, just feel that it's in a different class.

I would suggest doing suits vs alien. but you cant use the film uprising bc that's straight trash. the first movie is the only credible one.

Actually most of the "mechs" you put up are classified as Powered armor or power suits not mechs. To know my reasoning look to Battletechs weapons platforms list and mech classifications.

@@brotheralaric7177 but first rule of humanoid weapon making don't classify exoskeletons as mech suits. They are either power suits( halo and space marines) or Powered armor( Mechassault Hercules class and Tau battlesuits).
@@brotheralaric7177 I feel a different term is necessary since the structure of the machine is also affixed to his skeleton making it partially an Endo-skeleton. Though the one the bad guy wears seems to only interface with his spinal cord and is otherwise worn not implanted.

You forgot the guyver. Granted it's a living organism but it's also a sout of power armor with some pretty impressive weapons. It also gives the human it's bonded to immortality which is always a bonus in a fight.
Yeah, but if anything - then it would be the 2nd part (Dark Hero). And the saving grace of the fight in the end is a rather well-scripted choreography. Otherwise it comes out way too much like a run-of-the-mill Rita Repulsa 90's TV toy shelf.
But, like i said, karate and taekwondo save the day on this one... :-)

FYI - Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) is the younger sister to the Olsen Twins...
If you can build a great mech suit you could probably build a remote controlled robot instead.

Your looking to deep into it by the time any future shit comes there will be robots it just so the viewers can identity with it like in halo Star Wars avatar Starcraft mass effect and just about 99.99% of all sci fi if it was real there would be a ai god orbiting the sun or the galaxy to power it’s self human would be in a vr worlds different for each human all of them would be genetic modification with cybernetic and nano bots and robots would be making and fixing every thing so don’t think to much about sci fi

A AI could shoot you in the left eye socket or you brain stem at a kilometre before the nerve signals from your eyes to your brain had realised it was there. And it would have already targeted the guy next to you before the bullet hit (assuming it's not using a pulse laser).

Hm the Elysium and Aliens flights were “real”, while these CGI feats really never succeed into delivering the feeling of “force”.

In my opinion with the unit from Avatar and District 9 I would say they are closer to a Mech rather than a exosuit/powered armor
They seem like mechs, but I guess they could be technically exo-skeletons due to being operated by your body rather than traditional controls
You forgot to include the fight between the heroic Sergeant Draper and his suit Goliath mk III against the despicable hybrid abomination of protomolecule, it happens in the third season of "The Expanse" and it is absolutely incredible
Also best mech centric ( mechs at least have to be 10m tall and have to be backbone forces of most fronts so no imperium Titans). My nomination is the Earth Sphere Federation from Gundam 00.

@@monarch9522 titans are to mechs what Astartes are to regular soldiers.
@@barrybend7189 Titans are a bit on the excessive side compared to most Mechs from other fiction. 40K being 40K, they go a bit far with the armour, shielding, firepower and ridiculously huge melee weapons. Plus Titans have multiple crew - a Princeps and a couple of Moderati at least, before you count Techpriests and crew servitors - and the classic Mech normally has just the single pilot so far as I understand the definition. Titans are not so much Mech suits a giant, walking sci fi battleships/mobile heavy artillery armed fortresses, with all the resilience and firepower such a description implies.
As you say, it just wouldn't be a fair comparison if you include 40K Battle Titans. Dreadnoughts or Imperial Knights seems like a more reasonable point of comparison - single pilots, fully enclosing armour that augments the ability of the wearer without being a conventional powered suit, integrated weapons systems, and generally a scale more comparable, to Mech suits from other franchises.

@@barrybend7189 No, I mean the Veritech Cyclones and Super Cyclones. They might look similar but the lore for the Robotech ones make them superior especially since a bunch of them are exclusive to Robotech, like the Super variant.

I realize its not a movie, but check out Exosquad... 90s cartoon and still my favorite sci-fi cartoon of all time. The exosuits in the show are fun to watch in battle and the action in the show, plus the story are just epic.
The suit Idris Elba sported in Hobbs and shaw was wicked!

Remember, the "Hulk-Buster" armor, and anything else for that matter, is not "Hulk-Proof", only "Hulk-Resistant".
Mech warrior suits shouldn't count because they are more like vehicles rather than evo suits. The aliens 2 one looks like a futuristic forklift built for a quadriplegic's. Plus the Elysium suits were by far the best. Best ever being the atlas suits in advanced warfare.

Films do contain more than aliens with acid for blood, time-travel and dimension hopping spsce-ships. 😉
I hear you. You're a long time fan and don't think you're not appreciated. The channel is growing quickly and so we really have to obey the masses right now. But we will try to do more one off videos on general movie stuff for our core as well.

@@spaceman6463 well power armors are in, but personally when I think "mechs" I mean something more along the line of gundams/jaegers and that is by no way an "exosuit"
(tbh I'd say there are two fights in there that goes dangerously close to mechs for an "exosuit" for me...)

Power armor is like armor but makes you stronger and fast and ads armor
Exosuit makes you stronger and faster but doesn’t give you armor
Power suit is like power armor but flexible
Nano suit is like power armor but uses nano tech
You get the point there all different and it’s important to say there different and not say there all the same thing
It’s like saying nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are the same they have differences and you shouldn’t say there the same

For me exosuit means exo-skeleton suit, which is most cases is exoskeleton armored suit (in some cases isn't but these are more rare) and most instances of "power armor" would fall into that cathegory. And I do not run separate definition for "power suit" over "power armor", as for nano suits, the main difference is that it's based on nano-tech - but for example nanosuits from crysis would still fall into cathegory of exo-skeleton suits for me.
the avatar mech-thing and the weird thing from matrix movie are very stretching it for me, I'd rather call them very small mechs than very large exosuits, but it's so borderline case that anything can technically go there.
At this point I am unsure what was your original complaint to which I responded in the first place.

Well a mobile suit isn’t an exosuit, more of a mech. General rule of thumb is if you wear it, it’s an exosuit, if you pilot it, it’s a mech.
