thanks for this tutorial. Would you know how to export an object that has blendshapes, rivet constrains properly from maya to alembic? Often these extra geo mods can cause errors and discrepancies in the animation in unity or marmoset toolbag from the orginal maya version
Maya has alembic exporter plugin enabled as default. You can find it either under Cache menu or Pipeline Cache menu. If you cannot find such options, check your plugin manager and see if the abc exporter is enabled.
My problem is not in accessing the export options, as I can successfully export my alembic mesh. My problem is that it doesn't export blendshapes and constraints properly.
Perhaps you should cache the mesh first in Maya before you export to alembic, baking your blendshape morph or constraint morph into points animation instead of trusting that exporter.
yeah I tried that as well. Somehow the problem is still the same when I imported it into toolbag. I believe this is more of a bug in toolbag then it is in maya alembic export. Since when I re import it into maya in a new scene, everything works fine.
if the link dosn't work try
github.com/unity3d-jp/USDForUnity
and download "USDForUnity.unitypackage" under Usage

try "Geometry caches“
