- This video is a quick sound demo of the Behringer JT Mini, Polyphonic analogue synthesizer. I have recorded the sounds directly from the JT Mini without any external processing or effects.

A quick sound demo without any outboard processing. This is by no means a comprehensive review, just checking out the sounds. I’m really impressed at the sound for the size and price. And it’s cool the way the knobs light up when you move them 😃
This is really the only way to show its raw voices. Thanks! I’m prob def getting one too. It just sounds too great for its price and size.😅
(Also on a side note: Do you know if it will respond to midi program changes? I know it’s a long shot, but it would def complete the concept/design!😎)
What about if you dont take the price and size into account, would you still be impressed ?
I'm definitely getting some Jupiter 8 vibes from this even with the limited form factor and polyphony. This makes me excited for their full sized JT16 than that comes out.
Yeah definitely. I can’t believe the sound out of something this small!
Even if used monophonically, it's amazing. In fact Roland had a mono version of the Jupiter 4, called the Promars.
love this mini synth🤙😻🥹
It’s a monster 😃
I appreciate these sound only demos. I'd much rather hear the synth than some guy talking about how wonderful it is or how much he doesn't like it. I can read what the controls do. I'd much rather hear the synth than some guy talking about it.
Haha me too! I don’t mind reviews if they’re creative, like they actually make music with the synth. Otherwise we just need to hear it! 👍
Behringer is killing it with these minis and micros
Can hardly keep up with their release schedule! But can’t wait to see what’s coming next 😃
My JT mini arrived two days ago.
Awesome! You’re gonna love it! It’s a keeper 😃
Interesting. Would need a few more features to tempt me, but I like what Behringer are bringing to the table
It definitely has an old Roland sound. The paraphony is a bit of a limitation, but it does sound good.
I have the other synth in this similar form factor, the VS Mini. I really enjoy that little synth and use it often.
Yeah the paraphony is a shame but at this price not a deal breaker. I haven’t tried the VS Mini. I’ll have to give it a go.
@robbiefithon The VS Mini is really nice, it can sound quite analog or digital (the analog filter is sweet). I find it a little difficult to program, but the new factory patches that were released in December are a much better starting point.
I ordered this from Sweetwater (USA) and am looking forward to hearing it in-person. I've only used soft synths on my iPad and I am interested to learn if I hear any significant differences from a "real" analogue synth. I have Tal-U-No LX on my iPad which is considered to be a great Juno 60 soft synth so I will try a direct comparison.
You’ll notice a big difference between real analogue and plugins. And the direct connection with the sound is something you can’t replicate, even with midi controllers. I think you’ll really enjoy it 😃
Do you find in poly that sometimes overlapping notes pop a little? I’ve noticed it on sine wave and poly mode, I think I can hear it in this video too. Hoping it’s a case of ‘they all do that sir’. Great video, I really like the simplicity of a solid demo
Firstly thank you! Yes I have definitely noticed that too. I think it adds to its character 😃
Mine arrived today would love some tutorials the sounds are so good for the price
Yeah the price makes it a no brainer for me. I’ll hopefully get round to doing a full tutorial soon. I just couldn’t wait to mess around with it and see how it sounded 😃
Sounds pretty cool. For $99, I'll get one, though I already own several cheap synths. Sort of reminds me of the Korg Volca Keys from what I can hear from this demo. I have the Behringer VS Mini and this form factor obviously owes a lot to that design. Looks like Behringer is creating a whole line of cheap synths based on that. Good marketing decision. I'm a big fan of Volcas in no small part because it is easy to go from one to another due to similarities in control functionailty.
Yeah, the Volcas are the closest comparison, these seem to have better midi spec though. Yeah Behringer seem to be using the same chassis for this mini range. Definitely makes sense.
The video is so quiet. Also, is it polyphonic or paraphonic?
It’s paraphonic. Not sure why the videos quiet. Maybe it’s a bit shy
Great device 🖤
Totally! Minds kinda blown by the sound coming out of it.
this looks pretty cool, but I wonder how different it is from a Volca Keys.
Similar to Volcas but usb powered rather than batteries. Cheaper too.
is between a juno 106 and jupiter. i own the juno 106 and some sounds can't be reproduced. de tuning and some bell sounds, are more jupiter related. i hope with some effects and effort the behringer can convince me. else i have a 2nd juno in my set for 120euro which is quite nice 😊
Sort of in the same way the Juno was a stripped-down Jupiter but with DCOs instead of VCOS and chorus to fatten the sound to compensate for lack of detune. The JT Mini is a bit closer since it's probably using VCOs, and it can detune the oscillators.
Im gonna get one but I'll definitely hook up my keystep 37 to it. I dont think that tiny touchpad would be all that usable. I like the sounds better than the vs mini for sure
Yeah it’s pure analogue so sounds amazing. Keystep 37 would be a brilliant companion for it 👍
@robbiefithon nice. Its on preorder everywhere I look tho. How'd you get it so fast? I guess they had a small initial production run or something
@ yeah I think I got lucky getting it so early. I think it’ll be worth pre-ordering as I’m sure they’ll get more out quickly.
@Will-xf3qe I ordered one from Gear4Music on Monday and it's arriving tomorrow. They had two in stock (plus a nearly new one). Worth checking.
The VS Mini had crap presets, and is a bit hard to program. I bought some great patches for about $10 for it, have a better starting point for my own patches. Now it sounds amazing.
Can the ARP be latched?
Thanks for making this demo. It motivated me to not buy it. The features for the money do not compare with other Behringer modules like the 4000M (at half the price) and pro vs mini at the same price but way more specialized. In the end it's a great basic synth tho where each preset is just the way you left the synth. Hands on tweaking without menu diving. But yeah, for 50 or 60 dollars it would've made more sense. Im afraid Behringer is now on a roll of making a lot of synths in this exact format but serving a different niche each time. Like wth is that phara-o synth suddenly? I'm just waiting for the minimoog variant of this series of mini desktop synth.
A mini desktop Mini Moog clone would be very interesting 👍
Just want to check - this is paraphonic, not polyphonic right? For $99 it's still an insane bargain of course, but I'm pretty sure the envelope re-triggers for notes being held down when you play a new note.
Yeah it’s 3 note paraphonic 👍
Yeah it’s 3 note paraphonic
They keep calling it a Jupiter clone, but really seems more like a Juno clone. It only has one oscillator and one envelope unlike the Jupiter 8 having two of both.
Having played around with it a bit more I agree. Out of the two synths it definitely reminds me of the Juno more than the Jupiter.
Filter chip characteristics should be identical anyway (IR3109). But the sub-oscillator is missing here. With an octaver pedal (Behringer UO300 etc.) and a TC June-60 V2 chorus pedal the results might be even closer to a Juno.
Sounds more Jupiter than Juno. More like a stripped-down Jupiter anyways. The Juno uses DCOs and this still sounds like VCOs here like the OG Jupiter. You also can't detune oscillators on the Juno but the JT can. Oh and the Juno chorus which this does not have.
thnx bro
👍
3:43 nice👌
Thanks! Still can’t believe the sounds in this thing 😃
Is that a Midi in!? Thx Behringer.
👍
It sound like a tiny casio😂
Body of a tiny Casio with the heart of a mighty Jupiter (or slightly less mighty Juno)
Filter is nice. Other than that, not sure. If you can play it in mono with three slightly detuned oscillators, though…
Yeah the filter is very nice, and the sound with that detune is massive 😃
How can you tune the unit?
Pitch Mod right there
Is it possible to take prefaced midi and push it into the device for sounds & performance?
Yes, it can be controlled by Midi in or the USB C. I'm guessing they'll just do note on and off and minimal CC's. The controls would be NRPN's by an external sequencer or Daw. If the manual is online it should give a list of CC's.
Yep there’s midi in and midi via USB C
@@paimon4615 Behringer's CC implementation is usually the following: NOTHING 😆(my only complaint with their synths really)
En donde podría adquirir este producto y que lo envíen a México???
esta a la venta el behringer pro vs mini en 3300 pesos en amazon me imagino que después también estará disponible en amazon este JT mini
@@DiegoIsaac-hj3fy gracias lo checare
why no patch memory 😭
…because it’s a $99 mini synth. I assume a full size Jupiter clone is in the works (eventually).
@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 The JT-4000 micro has presets and the PRO VS MINI has presets. They have presets in a synth that has an even smaller form factor! Your reason of it being mini and not having presets does not make sense when they put presets on a micro thats smaller than a mini and costs $50
Apparently there is a full size Jupiter clone in the works. As for patch memory/presets, I imagine it’s much easier to install presets on a digital device than an analogue one (knob and slider positions would be all out)
@@robbiefithon- most analog synths have digitally controlled knobs and sliders. That provides a way to save patches and receive midi CC etc.
@@leftmono1016 that will be one of the ways they keep costs down on these little units
Where's Gary Newman synth sounds late 70s sounds
Around 3:45 mark gets pretty close
why don't you use a midi keyboard to play😂
I usually do but wanted to show the keyboard in this video. That’s why I left the mistakes in too 😉
