*NEW 2022 VOLVOS* & BULLHORN! - Armed Police XC90s & Unmarked cars responding

- 3 of the BRAND NEW Volvo XC90 Armed Response Vehicles recently acquired by South Wales Police are seen responding in East Cardiff to a unknown incident, along with several BMW X5 ARVs and an Unmarked XC90 OFC car. South Wales now have 5 marked Volvo XC90 ARV, and 2 Undercover alongside the many BMW Cars.
Also included in this compilation are other emergency vehicles responding in Cardiff, with vehicles from South Wales Police, Fire Engines & trucks from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, and Ambulances from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

I saw a South Yorkshire Police Volvo XC90 in Sheffield yesterday. Looks like they might be replacing BMW X5s; Derbyshire RPU has a Land Rover Discovery that reminds me of an updated version of the Range Rover that was the classic police 4x4.

I remember the good all days when 90% of the time they would drive around in Astra diesels that could barely keep up with a bicycle in a pursuit and we could all make fun of them from across the pond.

Having used a few different sirens, I can confirm the air horn on our pumper (fire truck) is more effective than any siren.
i like it how they put their phazer sirens on or use the bullhorm as they see you filming
They do that for the roundabout.
As per the other comment, the three different tones are specifically chosen depending on the condition of the road during a dynamic risk assessment such as; pedestrian crossings, roundabouts etc :)
@@kailodj5513 i know they use the phazer siren when at an intercection, but in the video they change to the phazer even though its a straight road with no pedestrians, so i think they do it on purpose. also there is 4 sirens, wail yelp hi--low and phaser (aka priority)

Presumably the Second Volvo may have been closer beforehand, so the First may have switched the rears off?
A lot of forces have policy to turn rear blues off when responding as it stops dazzling other drivers.

@@lzaka5815 They did, may have forgotten or it isn't policy in that force. Just saying that some forces have a policy where if it's appropriate, to turn rear blues off when in convoy.
Rear blues are for when stationary.
It didn't pass barriers, it went between cones to go around traffic on to roundabout.
It seems like some of the newer police vehicles have one centrally mounted, rear-facing steady-burning blue LED in their repertoire. Do you know what the functional purpose of this is as opposed to adding it to the flash pattern?
In the UK, and in my ambulance trust, the solid blue light is there so if the vehicle is caught by a speed camera (or any other traffic enforcement camera), there is clear evidence that the vehicle was driving on blue lights at the time. Flash patterns on practically any vehicle will have a tiny gap where no blues are visible for a split second, which can be a pain as it then has to be proven that the vehicle was driving on blue lights and that speeding was legal. Pause and unpause a video of an emergency vehicle and you can see that every now and again no emergency lights are activated in between flashing.
